We have been using Brookwood for many years now. The new owner has really improved what was already a great experience. The staff are truly happy with taking care of my dogs, you can see it. My doggies get super exited in the mornings when they realize where I'll be bringing them! Even though I work from home, the stays give my doggies the exercise and socialization that I just can't do by myself. Then, at the end of the day, I can check on FB or Instagram to see if my doggies are the lucky ones to have their photos taken that day! read more

We have been bringing our Charlie to Brookwood for over a year, usually 2 times a week for daycare and have boarded him a few times as well. I love Brookwood Pet resort. The staff are so helpful and caring. They really set my mind at ease.

I boarded my dog here for two nights. During that time my dog ate a large portion of his Serresto collar. He had been wearing the collar for four months with no issues prior to this. A properly fitted Serresto collar cannot be removed by a dog. He has never removed it on his own or even tried to prior to this. It would require a third party to adjust it whether than be a person or olay with another dog (i ask that he not be with other dogs). After he ingested part of this collar I was not informed until pick up time. A dog ingesting a large, foreign object should be treated as an emergency. I will not be boarding here again as I do not feel my dog would be safe. read more

An update from me , after spending $629.00 at the vet, since picking my dog up on Tuesday from Brookwood Pet Resort. My dog has done nothing but vomit and poop diarrhea since her four day stay at Brookwood Pet Resort. Today, Thursday, I took her to the vet, as she is frail, gaunt and just plain sick from eating something ? that she got while at Brookwood Pet Resort. She is supervised by me, at home, so I know she did not pick anything up here, as she has only been one place , other than home, Brookwood Pet Resort. We packaged up her food and explained to the intake person that day that we dropped our dog off, that our dog likes to graze her food, and to leave it down for her to eat as she wanted. We were told that was what they would do. Obviously, that did not happen, we think that they fed her their food, and skipped feeding her pre-packaged food from home, or she was allowed to eat some other dogs food ? We have been told three or more different stories, so, I would not expect to get the true story as to why my dog is so sick from being at Brookwood Pet Resort. They claim she was eating all her food, which I find hard to believe, so don't make the mistake I made by paying Brookwood Pet Resort $ 250.00 for her stay, and then come home from the vet, today, with four medications and a bill for $ 629.00.. You do the math, it was a very costly stay, and my dog is on meds for at least five more days. This is not what we wanted our dog to go through, she is so sick still...Don't make the mistake I made by boarding with these people who don't tell the truth. I have been bringing my dog(s) here for several years now. We previously had two dogs we brought several times a week and for boarding , an Australian Cattle Dog and a Pit Bull mix. Our rescue pit mix had epilepsy and was on many, many, meds and a special diet. They LOVED him and made sure he got his meds and extra love. He absolutely loved going there. His epilepsy got too bad tho and he passed. The daycare sent letters of love home with us expressing how much they missed him and how much he had been loved. The girls working there are so wonderful and really love the dogs. Now, we just have our super high energy and crazy cattle dog and he is also much loved. The dogs get let out MANY times per day so I'm not sure where the guy above gets his info from about only being let out twice per day. My dog needs a lot of play time to be tired and is like the energizer bunny. He always comes home super tired and sleeps the rest of the evening. He is also only let out alone because he doesn't care for most other dogs and they make allowances for him because they understand the herding breeds as they also compete and train them. Do accidents happen and dogs get into scuffles? Yes, they're dogs and that happens occasionally, but it's always handled right away and professionally. One time, our pit bull got sick while boarding from the stress of being away from home, and they took him and stayed with him at the vet. We had daily updates from them and the vet and he was better within days due to their prompt care and love. We feel their rates are spot on and fair. I've always gotten the VIP Deluxe for my boy(s) and they love the extra love and care they get. read more

I use Brookwood 3-4 times a week for day camp. I've found the staff to be very accommodating; feeding my dog lunch, giving him a bigger pod and keeping him together with my parent's dog when they send him. I was hesitant at first about the amount of time my dog would spend in the crate but after talking with my vet she said it tends to be better for the dogs because it's gives them a break and helps them from getting stressed or anxious. I find that when I pick them up they are happy and usually pretty tired at the end of the evening. It's also very convenient that there is a groomer on site so that I don't have to make extra trips to get my dog groomed. The reason for the 4 stars is because the pick up and drop off times are limited and you are not allowed to pick up your dog if the lobby is closed. read more

We boarded our family dog (Bear) from 12/16-12/22. He's a pit bull with high energy. But the sweetest dog ever! We were extremely nervous as we boarded our other dog at D LA POOCH last year and he passed from something he caught there. Anyway, a friend referred us to Brookwood Pet Resort. After walking through what felt like a million boarding facilities over the last five months. We settled on Brookwood Pet Resort at the last minute. They were able to take him for the week. We're happy to report they treated our Bear very well. We called mid week and they told us he wasn't doing well in the regular kennel. So they put him in the larger pod because they were concerned about him hurting himself. (No extra charges to us.) He came home pretty tired like he had been exercised. He smelled wonderful, we're pretty sure he was given a bath. (No additional charge to us.) They cut his nails perfectly per our request. Overall he seems very content. He returned with all his toys we sent with him and whatever was left of his treats. He seems to be in good health and definitely had exercise. The price was very fair. I believe it came to around $275 for six days. He got two or three turn outs a day as well as doggie play time with the group. We're very pleased with how Bear was treated and will only use Brookwood pet resort in the future. They are an excellent boarding facility and took very good care of our fur baby. FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY! We wish there was a ten star option! read more

After much investigation and thought, we decided that our dog (an English Bulldog) would have his first boarding experience at Brookwood. We made an unscheduled visit to the facility where we were met by one of the owners, Art. He was very lovely and showed us around the facility. It looked amazing, very clean and well kept. We had no hesitation leaving our little guy there. Brookwood cost twice as much as any of the other kennels we looked at ($300 for the week including VIP package and bath), but we were ok spending it because we felt we were leaving him in good hands. We dropped him off on Saturday. On Tuesday we called to check in. Art said he was doing great and we had nothing to worry about. And then we picked him up on Saturday... We were informed by the 3 teenagers working the desk that he had an injury to his neck. They thought that his collar had started to grow in. (Now this is pretty gross, but anyone who knows anything about this knows it takes a bit of time... we had taken him to the vet just previous to his "trip" as well as taken off his collar the day before we dropped him off to put on his brand new, shiny dog license.) I told them that that really wasn't possible. They said that the groomer found the injury when she was washing him and that it had been "really gross." She had to shave his neck and remove the collar due to excess puss build up. (The collar stunk so bad I had to throw it out. And this was a standard collar that was encased in a safety plastic!) When I asked what had caused this they said, "I don't know. The weather, maybe." It had rained 4 of the days we were gone, but 1. this was the same collar he has had for 6 years and 2. he was to be (according to the package we paid for) kept in a "climate controlled" room of individual dog pods. I called back the next morning (Sunday) hoping to talk to someone who knew more. One of the girls from the day prior answered and said there was no one else for me to talk with and that I would have to call back the next day. I did. I spoke with Carol (the other owner). She said she didn't really know what to tell me. Either he slept on it funny, had an allergic reaction to the collar or it was the weather. She put me on the phone with the groomer. The groomer told me that either it was an allergic reaction, the weather or he was just too overweight for the collar (because of his breed the collar is really just for show and to hold his license. We intentionally keep it very loose so as to not restrict his airway.) The groomer then said, "there is no need to over react." So this is a lot of words, but in summary: 1. I paid them $300 to give my dog the VIP treatment and he was hurt on their watch 2. No one who works at the facility was paying close enough attention to tell me what happened 3. They had HORRIBLE customer service and were totally dismissive of my questions and concerns. I will NEVER use this facility again. read more

I dropped my adorable dog here for a trip to Vermont. First of all, it couldn't be better located. 5 minutes off of I-93. For $25 a day, your lil sweetheart gets 3 play sessions, 3 restroom trips and a free nail clipping. They gave my dog a little bandana and a treat for the road. So cute. I walked around the facility and it seemed really great. Lots of training rooms, supervision and happy dogs. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. The only downsides are that they aren't closer, I think the kennels could be a smidge bigger and the hours for pick up are pretty limited- several in the morning and two in the evening. read more

I have brought my dogs here, six of them, for over four years. Over the fours years it seems the service and the way the dogs come home has deteriorated. In February 2018, I brought in my six dogs to be boarded. Upon picking them up, four of them had diarrhea and one had to be hospitalized at it was so severe, he was bleeding out his rear end. The Vet said he caught some type of bacteria infection, this cost us over $1900.00 to make sure he was ok. I didn't think at the time to call Brookwood and see what was going on as I thought it was just caught between all the other dogs I have. Maybe something he ate, I thought to myself. I let it go. In August 2018, I again boarded my six dogs. All six now have Kennel Cough! I understand that its like catching the flu at school or by walking from someone at Wal-mart, but I think what got me the most upset when I called this time, was the person who answered the phone on 9/1/18 at around 10 am, told me to find another kennel! You bet I'm finding another kennel. She told me they had 80-90 dogs that were there on that particular weekend and only a small amount are sick. Well, its not a small amount to me as it 100% for me. And one of my dogs came home with shit on its tail and rear fur. They didn't even clean him up! Don't being your pets here as their lack of caring has cost them business. And I spend over $5000.00 a year for boarding my dogs! read more

We leave our Jack Russell Terrier Naomi, who is is five here two or three times a year. She seems to really enjoy herself her. The staff knows her and she is excited when we pull in to drop her off. She is a very smart girl and I believe that if she wasn't well cared for or happy during her stay we would be able to tell in her attitude. We have been using Brookwood for about for four, four and half years. The drop off/pick up hours are limited, but I understand that the staff is caring for the pets. If they had longer drop off/pick up times, the prices would have to be higher due to increased staffing. I think the price is fair. It's like childcare - why would you want the absolute cheapest care for your child or pet? The facility is clean, well-maintained and the staff remember my pet and there is low turn-over. It is a bit out of the way but my pet's safety is my #1 concern. For a Jack Rusell, Naomi is a real lapdog. I want to be sure she gets lots of love and attention while we are away and she seems to here. read more

My dog was seriously injured twice at this facility, including a dog bite requiring antibiotics. Brookwood does not check to make sure dogs vaccines are up-to-date, so I had to tell my vet I did not know if the dog who had bitten her had had a rabies shot. The animals are not well supervised. read more

DO NOT GO to Brookwood Pet Resort of Boscawen. We just picked up the dogs and they came home stinky and both were covered in dried shit, one of the dog beds was covered in dried mud, none of the instructions we left were followed and we're not entirely sure they gave one of the dogs the eye drops he needs to prevent further vision loss. To say that after paying almost $500 for the week, we are totally unsatisfied with the service of this place would be an understatement!!! We will never go back there again. They should be investigated for sanitation and safety. read more

Brookwood is one of our favorite places for lodging our high energy dog! Art and Carol, the owners, are some of the most caring people I've ever met. They exude such wonderful energy that you trust them with your pets. The staff is also fantastic and I like that I see the same people every time I visit (vs. having high turnover). We've been using Brookwood since our dog was just a puppy and he's almost 7 yrs now! Our experience has always been overwhelmingly positive. The facility is clean and large. They offer daycare, lodging, training classes, supplies, doggie play time. If your dog stays here he/she plays with other dogs- unlike at other facilities in the area. This is very important to us because our dog is not only active but really enjoys the company of other canines. There is also a beautiful indoor training room ( I wish we lived close enough to take classes here) along with at least two large play yards. There are multiple levels of lodging but these only vary by amount of exercise activity. Our dog will take as much exercise as he can get so we've recently started using the VIP Deluxe service that offers our dog exercise time with personal attention from a human- meaning he could do agility or fetching- on top of doggie playtime! Thumbs us for our dog! We have so many wonderful things to say about Brookwood, Art and Carol. We consider our lodging options carefully because we have an unaltered male dog but Art and Carol have such an amazing history of training and raising dogs that we trust their judgement immensely. We do not live locally but use Brookwood when we snowboard or travel so we've used the service both short and long term. If you need lodging for your active, dog-friendly canine- bring your dog here! read more

I can't say enough about this place. We tried all sort of other places before we found these guys. Our dogs always came home sick. Not anymore. We have never had an issue and the staff is always friendly. One of our dogs had diabetes and that was no issue for Brookwood. I have mixed feelings. We have boarded our dog here a number of times and haven't had any issues. However, when we got him home last time, we notice blood on the carpet. After checking him out, we found that he had broken a toenail clean off at its base. No one at Brookwood ever mentioned an injury. There is no way that it could have gone unnoticed. When it happened, this would have gotten blood everywhere. I'm not upset that it occured. My dog is big and energetic and he's broken toenails before. I've lost trust in them because they never said anything and acted like everything was perfect when I picked him up. read more

What a beautiful facility. Looks like you are entering a driveway to a hotel. It really is clean and a state of art facility. The staff are friendly and caring. I kenneled my 2 year old rescue, that is often anxious in new situations. She did very well. The staff was attentive to her needs and she came home a happy dog! Wish I lived closer to have her go to the day care camp program, I know she would benefit from it. The indoor training rooms are spacious. my rescue malamute goes to brookwood for doggy daycare once a week just to work on her socializing and getting some exercise. Brookwood is her first doggydaycare facility since none others in the area would even consider her due to her rescue status, age and size. The owner of brookwood had no concerns and so was so accommodating, I really can't put it all into words. He made sure to meet my mal and let all the staff play with her one on one so she got used to everyone and the surroundings, then slowly integrated her into the normally doggy daycare routine and normal doggy daycare area. I can't say enough how grateful I am they were willing to work with my very pig headed mal and welcome her with open arms as they have. Highly recommended. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. This place is absolutely horrible. The staff is unqualified to take care of animals and the owners are no better. All these people care about is money. They will pack dogs into their facility knowing they don't have the resources to give them all acceptable care if it means they take home more money. Dogs who are put in daycare don't have suitable access to water all day long. The cages are small with rust on the outside and mold on the inside. I brought my dog here because my friend worked here not too long ago but after hearing all the horrific things she told me I was mortified. The staff isn't trained properly in order to take care of all kinds of dogs and give them all that they need. My friend told me the owners will keep on animal abusive staff members and overlook the dogs needs and care because it's easier for them. They will cut crucial corners in order to save money and therefore the dogs there suffer. The owners are also apparently "dog selective". My friend said they are only really fond of pure bred dogs mainly Australian Shepards or Australian Cattle dogs I cant recall which ones. Either way this place is horrible and I'm sad I ever brought my dog here. I don't think my dog received the care he deserved and I don't think any dogs ever do. The groomer is also unqualified. My dog got his nails clipped during his stay and the groomer cut a few of them way too short and I could tell they had been bleeding. If my friend had never told me all this or left in the first place I would have had no idea and I'm not only writing this review because she didn't want to but because I can't believe I ever trusted these people with my dog. read more

We bring our dog Rue here for Day Camp at least twice a week and have been since we got him (he was 4 months). It is the best thing for him. He is extremely high energy and playful and always comes home exhausted and happy. Brookwood is a great fit for him because he will make friends in any situation and we've had nothing but a wonderful experience overall. The staff and owners are great and always have a smile and a funny story about our crazy little guy. It was a great opportunity when we first got Rue to have him socialize and burn some energy and now it has become such a regular part of his life that he will wake up in the morning and we can tell that today is a day that he needs Camp. read more

Awful place! If I could give it no stars I would. I apologize in advance for such a long review, but I feel very strongly about how bad this place is and would please ask future customers to reconsider bringing their pets there. Brought our 5 month old GSD puppy for day camp at this time last year. The reason for such a late review, is that I was and still am so upset, and did not know how to go about this issue. Definitely should have sued or reported them to the American Association of Veterinary State Boards, for multiple dog bites that my puppy endured while going here only 9 times. I understand the possibility of conflicts between dogs at a place like this, sure, they play, sometimes rough and that is fine. First time we had an issue was when my husband picked the puppy up whose ear was all bloody and scratched up. The worker didn't even bother telling him what happened, I needed to call to find out. And the story is always the same ( i overheard them telling this same exact story to another client there when picking ours up) "It wasn't a dog fight, it was around 3pm, the last time we let them out, one dog bumped into another and someone got scratched/snipped at..." I was upset, but eventually his ear healed, even though now there is some cartilage damage to it, luckily for them, it still came up, which is very important for GSD. This should have been my clue to never bring my dog there again, but I have prepaid for 10 days and figured I will use those up. Next injury was much more severe and permanent. When I came to get my dog one day around 6, the front desk guy told me that there was an accident, 3pm, NOT a dog fight.....same story, and my dog bit himself........:/ when they brought him out, he tried to pry his mouth open to show me that he bit his tongue. The dog was visibly in pain and did not want to be touched so I put an end to that and said I will take a look at it at home. When we got home, and he was drinking water right away, I saw almost 1 inch split in his tongue.... not a bite, a full on split, like a snake tongue. 1 inch people.... I can imagine how much that bled AND the worst thing is that they DID NOT NOTIFY me when this happened. by the time we got to the vet, they said in order to sew it up again, they would have to try to re-cut it and even then the result was not guaranteed. Their side of the story was that he was playing chase with another 6 year old dog ( i don't understand why they would put those two, 6 months and 6 years together) and my dog looked back while running, tripped and bit his tongue. That may be believable, UNTIL the vet also noted and charted PUNCTURE wounds on his face..... He definitely would not have done that on his own. Like I said before, I understand that things happen when dogs play, BUT they lied about what had happened, or simply didn't see themselves because they were not doing their job of watching the dogs when they are out. They did not get the medical help for my dog when he needed it. It is unacceptable for them to get away with this. I truly hope that this review saves someones beloved pet the pain and suffering. I know it is convenient that they open 30 mins earlier than other places, but please please reconsider........it is not worth the trouble you may have to go through. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I have boarded my dogs here twice and both times I have had issues. The first time, one of my dogs came home with a very large scrape on his nose. I made the attendants look at it before I left and they said they never saw anything wrong, he must have spilled his food and scraped it on the kennel. Entirely possible but how could they not say something?! The second time my dogs were boarded, I was told that they would indeed be open for pickup on a day when they were in fact, not. I spent 10 minutes arguing with the owner where she told me I must have misunderstood and it wasn't her fault I didn't listen. This is NOT how you treat paying customers. During the same stay, my female went into heat after we dropped her off and NO ONE CALLED ME. I picked the dogs up and noticed that she was in heat when I got home. Not one of the 3 girls at the front desk said anything about her being in a separate area because of this. I'll never board my dogs here again due to the lack of communication and attention my dogs got. read more
