I am now at the three month mark for waiting for my mouthguard, and was told today after sitting in a chair for two hours, that I may have to come back for another fitting potentially in august. That's a six month wait for a mouth guard, meanwhile my tmj is killing me. They've also given me like two different reasons why august, one is that they are remodeling, so the offices are closed, the other is that the lady who does them is having hand surgery in a month, so they are training someone else to be able to take her place when she is out for another month or so, both conveniently coming out to august. But if you are training someone to take her place when she is gone, then you are open no?

In the next breath, the office then says they don't have a similar time slot until September, (it is April) and then says there is nothing the office can do. Nothing? Have a back up hygienist service. Keep a few slots open for this type of situation. If this happened to my family once, I wouldn't complain, but its been several times.

From the super sweet girl at the front desk to the woman who cleaned my teeth and let me just say she was super gentle and did a THOROUGH job, I couldn't tell you the last time someone spent that much time cleaning my teeth. Then there was Dr. Preston, he is super awesome and has a great sense of humor.. I unfortunately had multiple cavities so I needed to go back. I went back today and of course my visit went well! Well, I've started treatment with the specialist and it turns out that their readings, while not good, were not nearly as bad as what this hygienist indicated. And yeah, my mouth hurt after her "examination" for maybe 3-4 days. After a deep cleaning at the specialist office, I was sore for maybe 2 days maximum. Dr. Voss did not charge me for the visit, only the xrays she (finally) got with some panoramic type imaging system.

First of all, I asked if my insurance would cover my regular dental checkup and was told it would. I in fact discovered after the fact that this office was out of network, which led me to incur personal expenses out of pocket. As these are almost always avoidable, I found this very disappointing. Second, I was given an XRay without being warned of the possibility that I would have to pay out of pocket for it. Apparently the XRay that was provided was a special type of XRay that is only covered for me once every few years, while a normal XRay would have been covered. I'm disappointed that I was not informed about this, as it would have saved me literally hundreds of dollars. Third, I discovered that the office never filed a claim with my insurance provider, meaning I wasn't going to receive even a partial reimbursement from my insurance. It wasn't until 7 weeks later when I inquired about the status of my case that the admins at Omene filed this claim. The dental practice itself seems to be high quality but given that I've never had so many problems on the administrative side before, I felt that this was a fair score.

I'm not crazy about going to the dentist so I need someone that understands that... the X-rays were digital and the review process of the film was thorough. The actual procedure was overall - pleasant. It was a same day appt because I had pain and swelling. I've been needing a local dentist since moving to KOP and I was very satisfied with the care and service I received. If you have a sense of humor and want a dentist that makes you feel comfortable and at ease- they do that here!
