While a few people warned me that GB was a "chain," I also saw good reviews on Yelp. Showed up late on a Friday. GB was hopping! They have great choices of fish and drinks and pasties. Got the basic Cod with curry sauce on the side. OMG... flaky fish and crunchy fries with a zinger of curry sauce and malt vinegar. This is no LONG JOHNS! Well done and great vibe in the entire restaurant. Prices very reasonable to boot. Recommend!

Atmosphere, service, & food(which was different than this Broadway location), was superior to other locations. So not only did they change the menu - even at the Broadway location, they got rid of the tilapia, and also changed their cod, selection... - And! totally tripled their prices!!!... So incredibly disappointed! The food was expensive! The portions were cheap! And even the fries were a smaller portion than usual... Wake up guys! You had a fantastic product and you messed with it! Then you more than tripled your prices!! Used to be a great value - now a total rip off!! And! You want tips?... Especially when people either take it out, or bus their own tables... That's ridiculous. Sick of people always trying to take advantage of hard-working folk. You used to be a place - "totally of the people"... Now you feel like commercial opportunists. Won't be back. Tears. Oh yeah - and I also had about 200 points earned at the Colfax location... And for the same company - they didn't even bother to keep my history on file!!!-, but rather, wiped out everything at the Colfax location - including all of their accounts. Great business, Guys....! (NOT) -(people would often walk in off the street... And ask for food - I would use those points to buy them a meal... ) - No comment. :(((

I ordered a cup of clam chowder to start. On the first taste, it was slightly on the salty side,…read morebut overall I enjoyed it. The flavor of the clams and potatoes came through nicely, and the soup was satisfying. I only wish there had been pepper available on the table to enhance it further. I also sampled a piece of the chicken. It arrived extremely hot, impressively flaky, and generously portioned. It was well-prepared and enjoyable. The fish itself was good, though slightly fishy, with an underlying flavor I couldn't quite identify. It wasn't unpleasant, just noticeable. The accompanying sauce tasted like mayonnaise with a hint of dill but lacked depth and overall flavor. A lemon wedge would have helped brighten the dish. The meal, however, left me feeling quite heavy from the amount of oil. While I appreciated the quality and preparation, it is not something I see myself returning for due to how rich it felt afterward. As for the restaurant itself, the building looks worn, like it has been here a long time. The doors appear in need of a fresh coat of paint--gray and visibly dirty--and the floor felt oily underfoot. While I was there, the tables were being cleaned and sports were playing on the TV overhead, giving the space a casual, local feel. That said, the service was good--friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I did get the impression they could use more business, which is unfortunate because the staff clearly cares about the experience. Overall, a decent meal with strong service, but the heaviness of the food and the condition of the space make it unlikely I would return

My go to is still either the fish and chips or the combo w fish, shrimp and scallops. The oysters are great, the clams are great, the clam chowder is small but packs a lot of ingredients. There was plenty of parking and the place was empty so we had a ton of time to contemplate at the front counter. The outdoor patio quickly filled up over time. Customer service is fantastic. We ended up ordering Haddock, Cod, and Pollock because we couldn't decide which one or two to get. We liked the fishes in that order! The fries weren't great, don't get those. Loved the clam chowder. The excess consumption of oil from the fish made me a little sick the next day, so beware if you have a sensitive stomach.

Once we were seated our waitress Cleo was fantastic and friendly. She got our drinks order down and few minutes later our food orders. She was very attentive. As for food we ordered the following: 6 House Oysters- 3 Raw and 3 Garlic Wood Grilled- Absolutely fresh and delicious. The raw oysters tasted clean and briny. The grilled was done perfectly tender and not chewy at all. Smelt Fries- The smelt was also fresh and fried to perfection. Great size portion as well. PEI Mussels- Delicious and fresh. The mussels were plump and tender. The garlic butter sauce with calabrian chili's was delicious. Make you dip your grill bread into the sauce Wood Grilled Spanish Octopus- Outstanding, Octopus was cooked perfectly and grilled. It tender, moist and the taste from the wood grill was perfect. Overall very tasty dish. Overall, Fish N Beer delivered what was i craving for and more. If you're looking for some fresh seafood spot I highly recommend stopping by Fish N Beer. In fact, we didn't eat anything that wasn't well seasoned, cooked to order and authentically British. Not an easy find, if you ask me. Their cocktails were amazing and after some chit chat about what I liked and didn't, the suggestions were fabulous. Loved the British decor as well. Such a fun place. The service is a little stiff and slow but what can you expect from a pub style restaurant. It can get pretty busy inside especially around holidays so definitely make a reservation if you plan on having a big party or don't want to sit at the bar. Any time I go to Denver for a conference, I try to make it out here. I went in the middle of the day for lunch and there were a couple tables and people at the bar, but not crazy busy. Staff is informative and friendly. We got the: 1) Chips and Curry: -It's house made fries and curry sauce. -I'm used to Japanese curry, so I'm always a little bit taken aback when the curry has a bit of sweetness to it, but delicious either way. Slightly sweet and savory curry with lots of layered spices to it. Went deliciously with the chips. 2) English Breakfast: -Comes with 2 eggs (your choice for the style), rashers (thick cured pork), bangers (sausage), baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, and we added some black pudding for $2. -Always get English breakfast when you get a chance to. Filling and comforting. Great diversity of textures and savory, salty, and umami flavors. Gotta get the black pudding too. 3) Scotch Egg: -Comes with spicy mustard. -I LOVE scotch eggs. I'm a low key hardboiled egg enjoyer, so the addition of the sausage layer around with the deep fried breadcrumbs and dipped in mustard? Divine. I will always order this when I see it and this was good! 4) Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich: -You get a choice of fries or tots. We got the tots. -It's made with bacon, Swiss cheese, tomato, and onion. -It's alike a nice twist and upgrade to a grilled cheese sandwich. Sweetness from honey mustard, saltiness and crispiness from the bacon, juicy tomatoes. Good stuff. Make sure to use the mustard and HP sauce. Good stuff!

It has that perfect "rustic-chic" Colorado vibe--warm, wood-accented, and welcoming--making it just as good for a casual lunch as it is for a weekend dinner. The Burger Battle * Bison Burger: This was the star of the show. It's lean but incredibly juicy, with a deep, rich flavor that puts standard beef to shame. * Pro Tip: Pairing it with the tomato bisque instead of fries was a game-changer. The soup was creamy, vibrant, and had a slight sweetness that cut through the richness of the bison perfectly. * Pub Burger: A classic done right. Two patties, perfectly seared, with a side dijonnaise that adds just the right amount of kick. It's everything a pub burger should be--messy in the best way possible. The side garden salad was surprisingly fresh and crisp, providing a nice light balance to the heavy-hitter burger. The Atmosphere & Service The space is beautiful--modern design meets local charm. We were particularly impressed by the service; the staff was attentive without being overbearing, and you can tell they take pride in the locally sourced ingredients they're serving. The Verdict Whether you're a fan of wild game like the bison or you just want a solid, high-quality cheeseburger, State House hits the mark. It's rare to find a place where the "side" soup is just as memorable as the main course, but that tomato bisque is worth the trip alone. I'll definitely be back for another round of that bison burger!
