For two months I have had this review waiting, incomplete on my Yelp "desktop" containing only three little words "Fuck this place" This has been my opinion of It's Brothers Bar & Grill for quite some time. I've given this place a couple of shots -- I've visited with close friends, I've visited with schoolmates, and I've hated it each time. There's something about the whole vibe of this place that rubs me wrong. Many people in a college town will complain about a place being full of "Frat Guys" I take umbrage at that as I was in a fraternity in my undergraduate years at a mid-sized midwestern land grant university, so I've actually met a lot of fraternity men. I like to believe that what most people mean by "Frat Guys" is entitled self-important assholes -- if that's what "Frat Guys" means, then It's Brothers has them in spades. I'm not averse to crowds, but somehow this hole has drawn enough of a crowd every time I have visited that it is difficult to move from seat or a standing space by the bar to the restrooms. And maybe it's because I'm not a pretty person, or maybe it's because I was 27 instead of the mean crowd age of 21.025, but I have literally stood stood at the bar attempting to flag down a bartender for twenty minutes to try to get a beer while people to the left and right of me got service. I'm an easygoing person, and I've lived in Lawrence for over ten years, and I will visit nearly any bar in this town to have a drink, but It's Brothers is off my list. read more

On Friday, me, my brother, and his friend stopped by. It struck as a cook place, at least on that night. Previously, I walked by and saw huge crowds inside and waiting outside, but that night, it wasn't busy. We had Vegas Bombs and played a round of pool, which was nice. The next day, I saw the bar again and tried going. However, they wanted me to pay five dollars to enter. WTH? I didn't pay anything to get in the previous night. It didn't look like anything special was going on. I could spend just my money to get a drink at another place that I could get in for free. Doubt I will go back. read more

Bare bones college bar chain with cheap drinks and a lot of noise. I went to watch the last few innings of Game 7 of the 2016 World Series after Fuzzy's, just a few doors down, closed at 10pm. A decent selection of drafts in 12-14 ounce glasses for $4 ain't a bad deal and they had a Captain and Coke special for just $3, so I was quite happy for just $10 plus tip. This bar rejected me and my friends REAL ID's. The lady who was working as the "manager" in the bar that night was extremely disrespectful and rude to me and my friends. One of the bouncers even put his hands on an innocent woman who was just asking to use their ATM. Terrible and unfriendly service. I highly do not recommend going to this bar unless you want to see a bouncer shove a woman and deny your real ID. read more

Brothers is a pretty good place to go for your classic: drink and be merry type. Relatively good atmosphere, music is extremely loud, small dance floor; Redeeming qualities is the cheap price of the drinks and lots of space. They have games and a decent amount of seating. Overall, not a bad place for your typical bar. read more

If someone doesn't like brother's they're a hater. I have gone in there and ordered 90 jagerbombs and they have complied willingly. This isn't the type of place to take seriously nor expect to meet nobel laureates but to drink excessively and grind/make out with a stranger. This place is great for pregaming and promptly saying gtfo... the place gets packed! Start out here and make somewhere more accommodating. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with It's Brothers and if I wrote a review probably ten months ago, I would of sold this place down the river. But times have changed, and this place has grown on me. Yes, most of the people that go to this bar suck, The place is filled with Ed Hardy/Affliction wearing Olathe Trash (If you went to KU you know what i'm talking about), sketchy dudes from all races and creeds that usually start the brawl that happens every weekend outside at closing time. Yes, it gets over packed during the school year and the floors haven't been cleaned since Clinton was in office. And to top it off, your most likely going to have to pay a five dollar cover unless you went to high school with one of the door guys. Why this place perseveres all of the above: Beer here is usually a dollar sometimes two dollars max. I have never paid more than four dollars for a double well and I think its usually two dollars on most nights. It's a good sign I cannot remember the prices after going there at least once a week for four years because I get shit housed for under twenty dollars every time. You know what is also awesome? Tuesday night at brothers. On Tuesday night, you pay a three dollar cover, unlimited free tacos (3 at a time, 4 if you tip) and 32 oz make your own drink for 3 dollars (equivalent to two double wells). The bartenders here are awesome, some of the quickest and most laid back in Lawrence. You can easily get a table here and you will forget your surrounded by a bunch of fly-over state suburbanite castoffs. And since the opening of the Cave, Brothers has gotten way less trashier. So come to Brothers and watch the Morris twins put no work into getting laid while having a dollar beer. read more

OK so on any normal night I would definitely give this bar 0 stars ( if possible), but there is a little known fact that on Wednesday nights brothers serves 10 cent wings and $3 pitchers (it may be watered down, but hey $3 dollars is a 12 oz anywhere else). I come here every single Wednesday with my friends and love it. Sometimes the crowd can get a little rough by the end of the night, but considering by the time I get my wings I am already completely full on alcohol it normally turns into an early night. Definitely the BEST bar in Lawrence on a Wednesday, but any other night of the week you are definitely taking a risk. read more

Extremely rude staff. Ordered a 3 dollar drink and paid with a 10 dollar bill. I stood at the bar for a minute waiting for my change and when I finally got the bartenders attention (some VERY rude woman dressed as a butterfly) she said she gave my change to my "friends" ? What? The people I was standing by were not with me but even if they were, don't give my change to someone else! When I said they weren't with me she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. I get it, you're busy. That's not an excuse for bad service and to NOT give change back. read more

I used to loooove Brothers! BUT the manager is the rudest man I think I have ever encountered. Everything that comes out of his mouth is nasty. Things that could be said nicely and calmly are instead threatening and power hungry. I have had multiple bad experiences with him so the "maybe he is just having a rough day" is far gone. I don't know why Brothers would make a very non people person their manager but oh well. read more

Have only been here on Friday and Saturday nights, drink specials are good. A more "diverse" crowd then what you might typically see around Lawrence. Attractiveness is hit and miss, sometimes there can be some winners but sometimes a lot of trashy folks. Worth checking out though. read more

Typical college bar in Anytown, USA, fully equipped with Jayhawks banners, etc. Bartenders were cool and plenty of bar games (darts, etc.). Cheap drinks. Did not have food but looked like people were enjoying the wings. read more

I recently got married and coordinated with Jay and James, GM and Asst manager, to have our post-reception party at Brothers since it holds such great memories of my KU days. Same goes for my wife. They agreed and definitely delivered! They assigned a bartender or two to our party of 40 people during a packed Saturday night and took care of everybody from about 10pm-close! Our friends from out of town, CA, OKC, FL, MN, D.C. all raved about how much of an awesome time they had. It's not an easy task to accommodate a diverse group folks that we had at our wedding, but the knowledge of bartenders, like Nick, ensured that everyone was pleased. I've been a Brothers fan since 2005 but have not lived in Lawrence since 2007. I have had some of the best nights of my life there with great friends and have never had a poor experience with their staff, which being a college town changes often. It's a testament to their managers to be able to employ quality personnel with natural high rates of turn-around. Another spot-on Brothers night! read more

Such an awesome atmosphere to go out and have fun with friends. They have really cheap drink specials for both beer and liquor, and I like that there is plenty of space. Some bars in Lawrence make me feel like I'm hugging the stranger next to me. Guys do have to pay $5 cover which sucks but you'd probably spend that much with difference in drink prices any place else. read more

This is by far the most arbitrary bar on Mass st. If you are not one of the bouncers friends or if you are not white you wait at least an hour because all the people who are friends and people that are white get to go in in front of you. Give your money to a different business seriously. read more
