You bring your own food and beverages (wine) and they supply the paints, pottery, and glazing/firing. You start by picking from a wide variety of pottery fron their shelves (bowls, trinkets, mugs, small statues, etcl). The price is labelled on each item and you add an amount for the glazing/firing to that. Then you pick from a pleothera of paints and get to painting! It was a nice social activity that also allowed moments of quiet to focus on your piece. I find this dynamic kind of nice because I'm not one to talk endlessly even when I'm with my friends. They have tons of pieces to choose from, ranging in price and size, so you can make this activity as much as you want to get out of it. There's no studio fee, so glazes and kiln services are included with your price. They have just about all the colors of glaze, which have a display on the wall by the glaze bottles. The staff are all very friendly, Brooke and Fernando were especially attentive to us throughout the evening. They made sure to help keep our workspace tidy and helped with some glazing and artistic touches. Importantly, we never felt rushed with the process, which helped us feel like we could make something we're proud of. They also have some glass fusing stuff as well, so you can make some kinds of mosaic glass lamp shades (or at least that's what was shown throughout the space). I'm curious how that's priced, because that would be another cool outing! Pottery pieces take about a week to be fired in the kiln, so I don't have my masterpiece back yet. I'm very excited to receive it! They also provide shipping, so if you're a little further away, you can still get your piece. I'm sure I'll be back again before too long!

I will say that since it's best to paint 3 hours it takes a lot longer than you would think. So come with the mindset of getting lost in the therapeutic process of painting. They mentioned several times that you need to paint everything three coats in order to have a vibrant color. I will say that takes much more time than one would think so definitely give yourself time to paint several layers without rushing. My only other thought was next time I would pick a bigger object for our small ones to do as opposed to the tiny hand. Painting was very frustrating for them. We were able to help, but next time e Id pick only big easily painted objects. It was a fun airy spot with lots of tables and creativity abounded! How exciting to find this SUPER cute, out of the way shop that is a little off the beaten path in Nashville, IN. I had the hubs drop me off and I went in not knowing what to expect. All I can say is that anyone who knits or crochets HAS to visit this place. They have THE MOST amazing hand spun yarns and materials I have ever seen. This is no Red Heart - Super Saver kinda place. The Clay Purl is the real deal! Being one of a handful of folks in town allowed us some one-on-one time with the really nice lady working at The Clay Purl. She was so sweet to listen to anecdotes about inheriting all kinds of old skool acrylic materials from my crafty grandmother and had some really good ideas of where to donate materials that I would not personally use. Admittedly, it had been too long since I had picked up my own hooks and needles, and she sweetly encouraged me to do so. I plan to return once I have dusted off my hook and picked a project. These yarns are delicious.
