Wife and I are there yesterday. Picked after seeing reviews. They were spot on. Nice friendly pub with beer, wine and cocktails. Staff was very attentive. Food was great I had a Zermatt Berger and fries. Very good. Wife had a chicken burger and salad. She said the chicken was not a full breast but sliced and had a great sauce. Great pub to stop into during your stay in Zermatt. Crowd is mostly visitors, skiers & snowboarders etc but don't let that discourage you. Staff is friendly and prompt. Menu is mainly American with a Swiss/German twist. The atmosphere was lively, no complaints. Overall a great spot to grab something to eat with a cold pint. Great food and affordable prices! My boyfriend and I have eaten here 3 days in a row on our trip here in Zermatt. It has a nice relaxing Pub vibe but can also get lively. My only complaint would be not enough staff when a rush comes through but it's not a huge problem. I would recommend it to any couple or small group! read more

We actually wound up eating here twice during our stay in Zermatt and enjoyed it both times. We didn't stray too far from the basics trying several items including their soups (tomato as well as the vegetable) as well as their burgers and fries. We both enjoyed what we ordered and would definitely suggest as a spot for a good burger and a beer. read more

Really delicious! I had the Swiss burger and a blonde beer (forgot the name) and it came out to about $25 which is a very good price for the area. As others have mentioned the fries were also great! In addition to great food, our server spoke perfect English. read more

I walked here in the rain from my hotel, in the mood for a nice juicy burger. After getting settled in at a bar table, I checked out the menu on the table and found just what I wanted. Unfortunately, what I needed was someone willing to serve me. Though there were three people behind the bar and no one else waiting, I was ignored. Had the matterburger ( I think that's what is was called), it was honestly better than any burger I have had in the states!!! The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because people were smoking as we were eating. I guess I'm just spoiled. But everything else was great. Really good place for when you want something other than the typical Swiss or Italian fare for lunch. Also have veg options such as salad and soups and veggie burger. Everything about the Brown Cow is fabulous!! The atmosphere, the food, the staff, etc.! The Brown Cow is located in a hotel, which has so much to offer. I recommend getting some nachos and a stinky burger here and then heading upstairs to the cocktail bar for a drink. The nachos are a must if you're trying to get a little taste of Mexican food and the stinky burger is amazing if you like blue cheese!! Everything on the menu looks good though so I don't think you can go wrong! If I ever make it back to Zermatt I will definitely return to the Brown Cow! I stumbled unwashed and unshaven into the Brown Cow after 7 days walking from Chamonix to Zermatt across the mountains. Recommended to me by two climbers we met at the Schonbielhutte the night before, we discovered the Brown Cow to be an institution within our little community of climbers. The Zermatter Burger and several large beers were the perfect end to the trip and what the Brown Cow lacks in fine dining, is more than compensated for by large portions, great service and an understanding of the unwashed and their large packs. read more

Was crowded the first time we tried going (a party of 3) and ended up waiting till the next day to go, so might want to check about reserving a table if able - especially if you have more than two people.
