I bought a Groupon for the 2 bedroom cabin and we chose the Firefly with the hot tub. The cabin was really pretty, right on the river, and the hot tub was a lot of fun! We used their gas grill to make way too many burgers and hot dogs. The cabin had a full kitchen with seating at a giant booth. The living room area had a fireplace that they turned on before we got there so the cabin would be nice and toasty. The bathroom was stocked with towels, but not really any shampoo or soap. The two bedrooms had a king bed, but only one had its own heating/cooling unit. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was pretty good. One of the best things about this place was the staff. They are so nice! Younger and willing to give advice on the best hiking trails or bring firewood. We were late arriving that Friday and I think the front desk person stayed just for us, which is great. Just keep in mind before you make a trip to print directions. There is NO cellphone signal on the mountain. The GPS made us go past the road too, and there wasn't a signal to call the front desk, but thankfully we didn't have to search for long. They have a weak wireless signal in the cabin that could only be picked up by my laptop, not by my Ipad or cell phone. So also be aware of that if you plan on watching movies in bed (because they do not have a TV) or surfing the web. read more

Stayed in the rocky comfort cabin for my sisters wedding weekend. It was a quaint and comfy cabin and was perfect for our needs. Property is gated which made us feel safe and secure in the woods. Great view of the water with fun water activities. Staff was very accommodating and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable! read more

The setting of Brown Mountain Beach Resort is a serene and scenic old campground, retrofitted with yurts and refurbished original site cabins. Nestled against the backdrop of the Pisgah National Forest, BMBR lay along the winding creek bed of Wilson Creek Gorge (although it resembles more of a river than a creek) endowing those lucky enough to witness the creek and Pisgah timberline with pure serenity. Brown Mountain Beach Resort's main attraction is centered around its coveted Rock Pavilion and the pavilion's speakeasy bar below. From the surrounding gardens and sprawling deck, guests have a view and access of the Resort's well-kept sand beach, providing onlookers a spectacular view upstream as couples exchange their vows against the rambling vista of the creek, old wood forest, and hazy mountains. The staff of Brown Mountain Beach Resort is reminiscent of your favorite relatives you don't often get to visit. The proprietor of the resort, Ron, is a genuine soul who wants nothing more than to share the majesty, that is his little slice of heaven, with those who find it. Ron's daughter, Kelsey, who has begun to take the operational reigns of the resort, mirrors her father's confidence, work ethic, and honest personality. Her and Ron's shared vision being evident in the continuing improvements to the resort, which were made in the year between our reservation being set and the wedding weekend itself. Friday, our guests began to arrive, as my wife and I decorated for the coming celebration. The check-in process was relatively laissez-faire and to each their own, as our guests trickled in throughout the day. That evening, BMBR prepared a delightful supper of wood-fired pizza, as our guests and ourselves all enjoyed one another's company. We were served beer and wine by the A+ staff of ____, hired out by BMBR. The revelry continued well into the evening as guests were able to come and go at their leisure. Saturday was filled with food and fun in the sun (and some nursing of hangovers) as our guests were left to their own devices. Some fished and kayaked while others went on hikes, some helped my wife and I tie together some final decorating details, while others enjoyed being outside, away from cell phone service with an endless supply of spirits. Our ceremony was everything we could have dreamt of and more, the weather cooperated for our outdoor ceremony on the beach, in the mountains (how spectacular is that?). Our vendors, who were primarily recommended by BMBR, all worked in perfect harmony, and the evening's festivities went off without a hitch. Our reception was held in the Rock Pavilion, followed by cocktails and live entertainment in the speakeasy. Our celebration carried well into the night, ending on the beach under the stars, sharing stories and smoking cigars. In summation, the weekend was absolute perfection, especially given this being a "destination wedding" for most of our guests, my heart hums with happiness just reflecting on it all. Sunday check out was late enough for a leisurely pace, following breakfast in the Rock Pavilion. Our guests, well-fed and thoroughly tuckered out after a weekend of matrimonial celebration, went along their merry way, and we followed right behind. All told, BMBR was the perfect location for our wedding, my wife even declared so in her vows. While the rural site is not the setting for everyone's tastes and vision for their wedding, BMBR knows what they have and shares it with pride and grace not found with corporate venues and larger establishments. Just as with any event which spans many days involving a multitude of people, hiccups happened, but where adeptly overcame and managed. My wife and I, while we are joyous to be done with the preparation and planning of the event, have exchanged a piece of our heart and soul with the McDaniel family, who so graciously share their little corner of the world with love and care. We stayed in one of the yurts in February. It was so cozy and comfortable. We could hear the soothing sounds of Wilson's creek as we drifted off the sleep. The yurt was spotless. Kelsey, the owner/manager, was so kind and accommodating. She took us on a tour of the rock pavilion and the old speakeasy accessed thru a trapdoor. We also drove further up the creek and it was gorgeous. I would definitely come back here & recommend it to anyone. read more

July 15-17th Moore wedding Arrived early to help bride get set up for her guests and was met with a smiling Julie, wedding coordinator. She was a complete joy to work with! She has been doing events there for so long that she was super helpful with ideas and ways to make everything run smooth. All I can say is TRUST JULIE!!! Let her do her thing while you enjoy family and friends and be amazed by her awesomeness of pulling everything off super smoothly. The rehearsal was perfect and while we settled into the rustic speakeasy below main lodge, she and our kids (age 5-14) set up the bonfire on beach for s'mores. The next day was the same.....seamless efforts from Julie and staff to get everything set up and perfect. She was there from the morning til after the reception was well underway. Her lovely daughter was the wedding photographer and she was so fun to work with too. I will defiantly recommend this beautiful place to anyone getting married or looking for a retreat from reality. This is a special place where you can get technology free and give your undivided attention to nature and family/friends. The owner and his daughter Kelsey were also great. read more

My daughter had her wedding at BMBR this past weekend and I can't sing their praises enough! Julie was as dream of a wedding coordinator. She had everything well in hand and the whole weekend ran more smoothly than I ever could have imagined. She was truly amazing. Then their was Ron! He was sort of our wedding hero. Despite the massive flooding and the erosion of the whole beach the week prior to the ceremony, Ron rebuilt or repaired the stone retaining wall and dragged the beach out of the water so my sweet baby girl could have her beach ceremony with the beautiful river as the backdrop. The cabins were great and the new yerts are incredible! It is easy to overlook just how much hard work and love is put into BMBR because it is just so perfect. I can't wait to go back...even if it's just to check up on Ron and Julie and sit for 5 minutes and soak in the scenery. read more

This has become one of our favorite places to visit. The owners are great and very accommodating. The cabins are an eclectic mix of yesterday and today. All modern facilities. The view over looking Wilson Creek is beautiful. Peaceful, tranquil, remote, are just a few words to describe it. No TV, no cell phone, wi-fi is free, though. Attended a wedding here recently. The venue is beautiful and the food and reception were great. Biggest issue is that many of the cabins were infested with stink bugs and no matter how often you killed them, new ones replaced them within minutes. They were on the curtains, windows, bed, light fixtures, floor, etc. We had a 2 story cabin and it seems like the bugs liked upstairs so my wife slept on the couch downstairs and I slept on the floor. I made a makeshift mattress using the bedding from the main bedroom upstairs. Not too comfortable. Also had 3 wasps inside that I had to kill. Pretty creepy. I was told by another guest that the government recently released gazillions of the stink bugs in the area because they eat undesirable insects. I can't vouch for the veracity of this information, but the cabins are very old and not sealed or insulated so they were able to get in easily. Maybe it was just the time of year and you may never experience this issue but for us it was a real downer. The numerous ants we saw preferred our bathtub as their domain. Luckily, the weather was great so we spent as little time in the cabin as possible and we had so many loved ones on the premises that we were able to enjoy the festivities all weekend. Also, this cabin is advertised as having a sitting room where another person can sleep so it is like 2 bedrooms. No way. The sitting room is off the main bedroom and leads to the bathroom. It is also where you can hang your clothes. So if anyone wants to use the bathroom upstairs or access their hanging garments, they would walk right past where you are sleeping. And the "couch", if you can call it that, is really only big enough for a small child. No way an adult can utilize that space. Our cabin was the only one with limited wifi (downstairs only in the kitchen area) since we were near the main building. No cell coverage at all. We could use wifi calling if we were in that location only. I wondered what would one do in an emergency. One of the other guests said they were told there were landlines in the rooms where you could at least call other guests but several of us never found any phones. I don't mind rustic or quaint, but this was a bit much for us. read more

Great place!! Beautiful area right on the river, very peaceful. Our yurt was clean and cozy! And the hosts were wonderful, Kelsey was so gracious, even when we had truck problems the day of our check out, she let us check out 6 hours late and wouldn't even take an inconvenience fee, despite my offering!! So super nice of her, we greatly appreciated it! We will totally be going back!!! read more

Wanted to book a date on my daughter's birthday for a family getaway. You have to fill out a form to request information. Ron McDaniel I'm guessing is over the place, accidently replied to my email with a message for his daughter. "Kelsey, I am not thrilled about any of these. As of this morning, I think will pass on them. Will you handle this for me. Daddy." 30 minutes later I get a nice email about how it would be a great idea, but offers dates starting on the check out date we requested from Kelsey. We still would have booked the offered dates, but can't help to feel this was done on purpose to try and avoid renting a cabin. Which is his right, but I still can't figure out the reason for declining it based on a information request form. We pass the place whenever we go to Wilson's creek and this is where they wanted to stay, I'm sure someone else will take our money. read more

What an amazing find! I DJ'd a wedding there recently and LOVED it. There's a real beach with sand, a nice deck overlooking the river for ceremonies, a cocktail hour bar with a speakeasy vibe downstairs, and an excellent banquet hall for dinner and the reception. Julie, the owner and her staff were super helpful and attentive throughout setup and the event. They really seemed to care about the couple and their guests. I Highly Recommend! read more

Brown Mountain Beach Resort is absolutely enchanting! It seems like just yesterday my wife Chelsea and I were meeting with Ron and Julie to discuss potentially having our wedding there. The first thing we noticed was how stunningly beautiful it was. Many other venues seek to artificially create the wonderfully natural look and feel that BMBR so casually possesses. Serene mountains are the backdrop for a series of unique, cozy cottages along the banks of a magnificent river. The second thing we noticed was what genuine and hard-working people lived and worked there. The entire staff is extremely friendly and making sure that you have an enjoyable stay is always their top priority. Roughly one year after that initial meeting, Chelsea and I held our wedding at Brown Mountain Beach Resort. The best way we can describe it now, a month later, is that it feels like a wonderful dream that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. Our closest family and friends stayed in the cabins from Thursday through Sunday; enjoying terrific weather, hiking on the nearby trails, and rafting up and down the river. We held a rehearsal dinner in the reception hall and Ron was extremely generous in allowing us free rein of the property. The wedding itself was simply perfect! Julie served as our coordinator, transforming into Wonder Woman and turning all of our thoroughly planned details into a living, breathing reality. The resort staff leaped into action as our guests enjoyed a cocktail hour on the outdoor patio. Our ceremony and reception went exactly as we had hoped and imagined! We capped off the evening by roasting s'mores by the river. ;-) Many of our guests told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to! As for us, we never imagined how relaxing our wedding could be; an ideal getaway and celebration of love with the people we adore.
