We chose this place because they were pet-friendly. My daughter and I decided to take a spontaneous to the mountains for one night. Other hotels were booked and this place had one remaining vacancy. The room was small but felt cozy. The decor was complimentary to the mountain setting. The wooden floors were pretty. The bathroom was small but updated. It was quiet. The parking was convenient. The room came with a cute back porch and an area to walk around. The only downside was I felt it was a little overpriced for what you got. The low quality sheets on the bed were worn out. The piling made them feel like coarse sandpaper. It's a shame because the mattress was very comfortable. read more

Penthouse suite was clean, spacious and a great place to relax and unwind. Awesome two headed shower, comfortable bed, living area with fireplace and amazing kitchen made us wish we were staying longer. The girl at the front counter was very nice. Room was not clean. There was urine around the toilet, and we saw a variety of insect species and have it in the room. We only stayed for three hours and left. Gave management a chance to rectify the situation, and they refused. read more

This place blew away expectations. They upgraded us to the penthouse apartment. It was more spacious then my actual house. The bed was extremely comfortable. I wished we were staying more than one night just for a chance to cook in the kitchen. The weather wasn't great so we didn't get a chance to relax by the pond, maybe next time. read more

I forgot to mention in the review that one of the first things I noticed when entering the bathroom in our room was the toilet paper roll on had 5 squares left on it. Had a great stay in this quaint, comfortable Inn. It is walking distance to good food and spirits. The bed is super comfy and the water pressure is fabulous.... two very important things to me. They have a wine and cheese complimentary happy hour type event and complimentary breakfast. We will be back when we have more time. read more

They have a wonderful complimentary breakfast and they also give you duck and fish food to feed the animals in the lovely pond out front. OMG! A nightmare, had a reservation for July 4th... Obtained the key from a box and entered the room. It smelled as if someone had just fumigated it. The chemical smell was so strong that I began to feel dizzy. There was no one on sight to even offer us another room so we had to leave. There was no way to stay in that room. The Inn's policy is that they offer no refunds regardless if you need a hazmat apparatus to stay. It cost us $300 for 5 minutes! What others may call quaint I would call dingy and moldy. thin walls. could hear the tv from the next room. it was mounted on the adjacent rooms wall on the other side of our bed's headboard so the tv sounds were transmitted right through the wall. The room adjacent to us kept their tv on until 3:30 am. Around 3:00 am the smoke alarm went off. I jumped out of bed looking for the fire but it was a false alarm. Went back to bed and it went off again. I opened the door looking for a fire, smoke or ??? and again found nothing. I stayed up all nite just in case. When we complained to the owners and asked for some consideration for all the problems they basically said it was our fault for not calling them. I'll disclaim a couple of things first - we went here since we had little choice thanks to no planning and an at-home App State game, and when we pick 4 star, we expect boutique. In the mountains, 4 star means 'quaint' country décor, nothing more. Probably ok for the tourist from Florida, but not the seasoned traveler or business person. Next time we'll check the game schedule and book one of the new chain hotels in town. Pros: nice bathroom, good towels, babbling brook if you get a room close to it (we did not), walking distance to Blowing Rock (around the corner in fact but they neglect to tell you this so it was quite a surprise when we drove into the town for a restaurant that ended up being right around the corner), big bed, flat screen tv, nice common room, good a/c. If you are into looks, you'll like it here. Cons: bed was like being in a sink hole...way too soft; walls were so thin you could hear the couple next door walking on their wood floor. The apartments behind the hotel had loud, rockin' music going into the night and since the walls were thin, we could hear the drivin' beat. The place was all wood inside so it smelled musty and woodsy mixed with resin every time you came into the room. The real topper was some guy using the freakin' leaf blower at 9am on a SATURDAY morning. Geez, I thought I was in LA on a Tuesday morning with all that noise. If you expected serenity, skip this place. read more

If you are looking for a spacious room with a great view this is not for you. If you are looking for a small room within walking distance of all of "downtown" Blowing Rock's boutiques and restaurants, than this will work. There was construction on the main road making getting in and out a little more challenging and it was noisy. I will say the bathroom was nice, looked like all the fixtures had recently been replaced, powerful shower head! We had a Groupon or else we would have felt we over paid. The A/C unit had a mind of it's own and our fridge made an incessant clicking noise. read more

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very happy with it. Our room had a king size bed, 2 large chairs, 2 small bedside dressers, another small table between the chairs, a refrigerator, microwave, flat screen tv, comfy pillows and comforter, and a deck with 2 rocking chairs and a 2 person hottub overlooking a creek! The room decor and lobby are tasteful with hardwood floors and pine beams. The bathroom had ceramic tile and granite shower walls. The happy hour wine and cheese was cheese in a package but it was good cheese and crackers and warm from the oven chocolate chip cookies. Breakfast was what we like-bagels, cereal, juice. And you get to park right in front of your room. We say it was almost perfect and we will stay here again! read more

We stayed at the Village Inn for one night (Monday July 2nd). King size bed- $119.50 (not including tax). What little I knew about the inn is that it was built in the 50's so in a way I wasn't expecting much. We arrived at 2 hoping to check in early and was pleased to hear are room was ready. The young lady at the front desk was delightfully sweet and went over the area with us (places to eat, things to do etc.). Our room (106) was just a few doors down and when I went in I was floored. Nicely done décor, hardwood floors, stone tile in the bathroom and the best part, a sliding glass door that leads out to your own private deck with two rocking chairs and a table. There is a stream out back and small wooded area that really made it a nice area to relax. There was a nice large window at the front of our room so with that open and the screen door it made for a nice cross breeze. There is also a fountain out front (with ducks) so between the stream and the fountain and the nice cool breeze at night I slept like a baby (no AC needed).The room also comes with a microwave and small refrigerator. There is a wine and cheese reception daily from 5-7 pm. Your choice of red or white (the front desk girl will get for you and make sure it is full).They had crackers and some pre-packaged cheddar cheese (health departments doing) along with some yummy chocolate chip cookies to go with my wine. Downtown is just a short walk from the Inn. We tried the Blowing Rock Brewing Co., Six Pence Pub, and finally Foggy Rock for dinner thanks to the suggestions upon our arrival. The bathroom in our room was small but very nice with stone tile and granite counter and surrounding bath. Delta rain fall shower head with plenty of hot warm and water pressure (it's the little things with me). Very nice smelling soap, shampoo etc. (high end products). Flat screen TV (wall mounted) with cable and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast in continental. I did not go but my BF did bring back some yummy muffins and coffee before we hit the road. The only bad thing I could say about this place is it is located on a main road so you do have to deal with some traffic noise (with windows open). At night it was quite and I really only noticed it in the morning. I thought it was a nice Inn for the price and I would stay again without a doubt. read more

I travel quite a bit to the Boone/Blowing Rock/Banner Elk area and have stayed at a good many different locations. I have found that this hotel is perfect!!! It is very well kept, small creek in the back, hot tub on your balcony for two, and the bedding and linens are fantastic and it is very cozy. The convenience of the hotel to downtown Blowing Rock is great, its a 10 minute walk, and you get to see all the little shops you would not see if you drove. Also, being away from where the other hotels are is great because it isn't as cluttered with cars, and people. It is very quite also here which I find perfect. There are some restaurants that are within walking distance as well, Foggy Rock for one has amazing and refreshing food. More on your bar menu style, but with flare and class. The fried green tomato with pimento cheese is incredible, so is the fried chicken sandwich (I have never had one so tasty)... And has a great beer selection. Right next door is another restaurant, and local favorite TWIG's. Great food, and late night bands. Overall for the Village Inn, I recommend to all of my friends and family when venturing to the Blowing Rock area!!! read more

Our car broke down down so de ended up having to wait for hours to get a help, but he offered to call help for us asked if we wanted anything to drink and could help us to the buffet. My review is a blend of Lisa P's & Erik T's...Our first stay here. I remember this from the 60s when it was a typical "motor court" motel. Someone has bought this property along w/ 2 others & remodeled them quite nicely. The lobby is small but nicely furnished & in keeping with the mountain area feel. The breakfast area is nicely done with timbered ceiling & fireplace & comfortable furniture. The front desk staff was friendly & helpful. Just as Lisa, we stayed in Room 106. I was delighted when we walked in & saw the "country inn" style décor. Not your typical hotel furniture, headboard & nightstands hanging on the wall. As Erik stated, the room is quite small. It is big enough for a king size bed & two comfortable oversized arm chairs. The old fashioned wood paneling has been painted & the room had several paintings on the wall. The lamps were unique & each different. Again, not your typical hotel/motel furnishings. The original bathrooms are quite small but have been nicely remodeled with high end finishes. There is slate tile on the floor & halfway up the walls the wallpaper has a leather-like finish, the pedestal sink has a glass shelf above for toiletries & the toilet is attractive, not your typical plain commode like most hotels. The tub has a solid granite surround. The shower curtain is nice & it even has decorator type curtain hooks. The con is it's small & the glass shelf doesn't offer a lot of room if you have lots of hair products & make-up. There is really no place to put your cosmetic bag or shaving kit. It has the typical motel hair dryer which also has a nightlight which I like. The faucets are high end & the shower valve allows for both pressure control & water temperature control so you don't have to turn it on full blast to get hot water. The towels are soft. The complimentary toiletries are nice. I liked that it had several lights, an exhaust fan, a window, & heat lamp. One of the vanity lights was burned out & would have thought housekeeping would have replaced the bulb. They didn't. The tub has a light over it as well. The bathroom curtains are falling off the drapery rings so they look sloppy but the window glass is frosted so there is privacy without the curtain. The window opens if you want fresh air. The room itself was adequate in size. The closet contained an iron, ironing board, 1 luggage rack, small coffee maker, ice bucket, a dorm sized fridge & small microwave. The coffee maker & ice bucket tray are both on top of the small microwave so there is no "counter space" for anything. The shelf above had extra towels & blankets. The closet was long & the hanging space was to the far right & difficult to reach since the micro-fridge was in the center. I asked the front desk for a 2nd luggage rack since there was no place to put a suitcase except the floor. We had 2 suitcases. We didn't really have anyplace to put our laptops so we set them on the floor outside the closet on the floor & when we used them we sat in the 2 armchairs & put them on our laps. The furniture does not include a dresser or desk. The flat screen TV is wall mounted. There are 2 nice bedside chests but they are small & w/ lamps, phone, & alarm clock nothing else can fit on top. The HVAC is quiet while running. We had no issues w/ noise from other guests or dogs. The bed was king sized, comfortable, made up with the current trend of comforter w/ a top & bottom sheet. There were Euro shams, 2 king sz. pillows & 2 reg. sz pillow so there's no shortage of pillows for sleep or propping up in bed for TV or reading. From my photos you will see we had lousy weather. The hotel can't help that. The room has a sliding door leading to a nice deck with Adirondack style rocking chairs overlooking a creek & small lawn. Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy it due to the weather. We were able to park directly outside our door which was nice since it rained during our stay. The room was VERY clean which we really appreciate. One thing missing is a small rug or doormat. The floors are wood which adds to the country inn feel but with the nasty rainy weather we had, we tracked in wet footprints. No place to wipe your feet! No rugs in the room at all. The wine & cheese reception was laughable as Erik noted. The wine we didn't try but heard it was "box wine." The snacks were freshly baked cookies, and a few pretzel knots, crackers & individually wrapped "string" cheese sticks. I found that funny. The breakfast was a poor quality continental breakfast of bagels, pre-made French toast you reheat, bread, muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt cups, cold cereal, pkg of instant oatmeal or grits, OJ, coffee, LF milk, apples. Our last day we went to a restaurant. It is a short walk to downtown & shopping & dining. The rain prevented that for us but location is great. read more

My husband and I were pleased when we first pulled into the inn parking lot. The grounds were beautiful with a pond in the front and creek in the back. But that is where being delighted ended! The room was a step back in time to the 80's with walls dark and dismal and poorly lit. The room smelled very musty. The curtains were dirty, and the back deck needed the mildew pressure washed off of it. There was no internet the entire 4 days, and no staff on site, with the office locked. (they said due to COVID-19). We had 1 hand towel, 2 bath towels, and 2 wash cloths up until the last day! We repeatedly called the inn's direct # to report these things, with no answer. My husband lost our room key the 2nd day (we were only given 1, and it was left in a drop box when we got there). Because there was no staff on site, and no one answering the phone, he had to go up town to a sister hotel to find a real person to help us. This was the worst experience we have ever had with a hotel! read more

This is such a cute quaint little hotel! The location is perfect- close to shopping and dining and a great location for day trips for mountain excursions. The hotel has a lovely cozy atmosphere and is decorated very cute. Our room had such plush and comfy pillows/bed and the bathroom was awesome with custom stone tile floor. All the rooms have a balcony/ porch in the back that overlooks the creek. And all porches have rocking chairs. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the serviceman in the lobby--- although it was fast at checking us in, he was unfriendly and grumpy. My friend also had issues with one of the women employees being rude to her.... All In all, I would definitely recommend. read more

We stayed at the Ridgeway Inn last year which is owned by same company and we were satisfied with our room there as well. This Inn was more quaint and we plan on staying there again. We did have a problem with hot water in the morning but it was fixed within an hour. It is close enough for a nice walk to get to Main Street. read more

I'm surprised by all the high ratings of this place, and not sure where to start on my review. They call it an Inn and advertise as a B&B but this place is really a motel in form and function, with just a nicer facade. But at least most motel rooms have space to turn around in... the rooms at Village Inn are SMALL. There is a small aisle at the foot of the bed to get past it, but they hung the TV on the wall above that space so I had to duck past it every time I walked past the bed. The AC unit is also hung high on the wall and blows directly on the bed, so there's no way to get a comfortable temperature. They are a pet friendly hotel, which I'm sure is great for people with pets, but we had to deal with barking next door in the evening and again starting very early in the morning - so much for getting to sleep in on our weekend away! Most ridiculous, though, is the wine and cheese reception. We stopped in to check it out and found boxed wine and individually wrapped cheese sticks from the grocery store. My wife and I stared at it, dumfounded, for a few seconds, then laughed and left. The good news is that it's in easy walking distance to downtown Blowing Rock so we grabbed a drink before dinner. In short, consider Village Inn the place to stay only if you're booking late in high season and it's the only place with vacancies. read more
