Went here for the first time with all 5 of my kids in tow, 3 of which needed cuts! A 8 year old, 5 year old and 2.5 year old. The place is so fun for kids! They were all entertained! They took 2 of my boys right away. Michelle was so attentive and gentle with my 2.5 year old and did an amazing cut. Mago did my other 2 boys. He listened to exactly what i wanted and was so nice! Don and his crew are fantastic people and give great haircuts. They certainly make you feel comfortable while you're watching a good Tom Cruise movie and getting your hair cut. Tammy in particular is awesome. She is so enjoyable to speak with and really spends the time to get to know you. When you leave there, she really makes you feel like you've made a new friend. I normally wouldn't share a bad experience and would write it off as a one-off event, but in this case I got one of the worst haircuts I've ever had, if not the worst. I have someone that cuts my hair regularly and does a great job, but was all booked that day and I was in a pinch for time. I was able to walk right in and sit down with a female barber whose name I did not catch. The decor and barbershop feel were good and I was in and out, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of one. I don't have a difficult or abnormal hairstyle. 2 on the sides, short in the back and a little longer in the front and I wear my hair spiked up in the front. Pretty common mens haircut. I explained what I needed and I guess I should have been much more specific. You are facing a wall of memorabilia and a TV so you can't see what the stylist is doing. By the time I was spun around and asked about the length, the damage was done. I got home and showered and ran my hands through my hair and was surprised that the length was uneven all over. Not just in one spot or side to side, but front, back, pretty much the whole top has tufts of longer hair and uneven cuts. I was given a gift certificate for O'brians crab house with my payment, as a promotion I think, and that may save me some bucks on a meal. This experience had most of what I would want, except was missing the quality haircut. read more

Got my hair cut by Don. Did NOT get what I asked for. I asked for a 1 faded up to a 2 on the sides, with a tiny bit taken off of the top. My chair was facing away from the mirror so I could not see what he was cutting. When he finally showed me the finished product with a hand-held mirror I was shocked to see that he did not fade the side at all, but instead gave me a 1 all the way up to my part. I was left with one side of my head at a 1, the other side with a high and tight 1 blended into the top, and the top (the only thing he managed to get right) the correct length of about 1.5 inches. I also have a cropped beard and instead of blending the beard into my haircut he left the sides disconnected and uneven. Perhaps he screwed my haircut up so badly because he was busy taking no fewer than FOUR phone calls during the cutting process. If these had been calls to the shop about appointments or the like, I'd have no problem. Alas, they were not. Apparently Don files people's taxes for them and several of his customers chose this time to call and ask about them. Don, instead of telling them he was busy, or taking a break from cutting my hair, put them on speakerphone while he continued to dismantle my do. between those calls and talking to other patrons entering the shop it's no wonder he forgot what I had asked for. I was appalled when he still asked for the full $17. No discount, no compensation, no nothing. I was livid. Needless to say I will NOT be going back to Browns. I was so upset that later in the day I went home and buzzed all my hair off. I get better customer service, better prices, and better haircuts at Great Clips. read more

I've been going to Browns for years. I am 29 now and have been coming here since I was 10. They had an older shop down the street on Opdyke, and this new spot is much larger and roomier. I got scared when I moved back and found the old place closed up. Thankfully this staple of a place has stayed strong. I now bring my boys, both 10 and 4 to get their haircut as I do mine. Really the experience isn't anything like some random place to get your haircut, the barbers here know you, they get to know you, they are genuinely interested in you. I love it and I know you will love it too. They are local and always supportive of all the schools around the area. I believe Don's son plays football for one of the schools too. Go in and get a trim, you won't regret it. read more
