Best wings I've had in a long time! We got the grilled with buffalo and their honey chipotle and they were charred so nice. Lovely and crispy and tasted really good. I have had the chicken sandwich there also which was super. The staff have always seemed very nice. It's a big space, got a lovely outdoor area. It's pub grub but a really lovely standard of food. Elevated pub grub let's say. I would come here for a date night. I think it's important to highlight all the great choices available in Troy and browns have a lovely location and a great atmosphere. We went there for supper yesterday and have to say we decided that in the future we will just go for beers. The staff was very nice and accommodating, they let me sample at least a few beers before I ordered a pint. They were out of the first two that I tried to order I finally settled on a light lagger which was pretty good. She ordered the mahi-mahi taco I ordered the shrimp po boy. Neither of us were blown away. Shrimp po boy was on special. Loads of bread not a lot of shrimp they need to adjust that proportion. Shrimp was fairly tasty. I wish Brown's had been here when I was a student at RPI, but I'm glad I found them as an alumnus. We went there for dinner this evening with two classmates and had a wonderful time. My wife had the Taproom Salad with steak; I had the Moroccan Sesame Tuna (the server offered to let me have a side Taproom Salad instead of the green beans that came with the tuna). Both of us thought the food was very good; the service was excellent and timely. I had their Oatmeal Stout and liked it (though I'd rather have Guinness). Great spot to enjoy a patio meal after Rockin on the River. I tried a Shark Week moctail with pineapple lime soda and almond liquor. So tasty. It was a very hot humid evening and neither of had a large appetite. We split one order of grilled wings with a bourbon chipotle sauce. Wings were less crispy than like but we did order grilled. The sauce was great but I would love more of the chipotle smoke. The server got us in and out under one hour. Also didnt notice one bee which can be a large inconvenience while dining outdoors. Stopped at Brown's Brewing with my sister on our way home from NJ. We have been to the other location several times & had great experiences, particularly the Charcuterie Board which is our favorite. Conveniently located right off Rt 7 with street & private parking. Very nice taproom with interesting decorations. Now, for the really important stuff. We sat at the bar. We scored $5 pints of good beer-Peter's pale ale for me & Sunburst Golden Ale for Jane. We weren't super starving, so we shared Pulled Pork Quesadillas (minus the peppers & onions) which were very good & a side of fries which were standard. Perfect amount of food. The bartender was friendly allowing us to try several beers before deciding on our selections. I have been here at least 10 times over the past 10 years and it's always solid. I seek out their cherry raz beer which is outstanding! The ambiance is great too. Indoors, they have a bar and dining area downstairs and more dining upstairs. I had my engagement dinner and graduation dinner upstairs over in the past and it was great! Love their outdoor patio area as well. My husband and I came on a Friday evening but still got seated right away outside. We shared the artichoke dip, I had the Moroccan tuna and my hubby had the short rib tacos. 1 star was lost because surprisingly the Moroccan tuna was very bland. It was encrusted in sesame seeds and tasted like.... Nothing. I will admit I don't know what Moroccan food is "famous" for or what to expect but I just imagined in my head something exotic, maybe a little spicy or something and I didn't get that. I enjoyed the food, we all enjoyed the beer, I liked the ambiance, and I was reasonably satisfied with the service. But there were a few things about my group's experience that kept it from being even better. We'll start with the food and drink - all quite good, everything comes out fairly quickly, and all the food for a large group came out at the same time. The roasted cauliflower in the bourbon sauce is addicting, but also ridiculously sweet and quite heavy - share it, don't get filled up on it. My turkey chili was appropriately spiced with a variety of beans. But as per my photo, my plate was more like "a plate of corn chips with a side of turkey chili" than the other way around. The wings are delicious as well. We had 2 people in our group with a gluten intolerance. When we mentioned "Celiac" to our server, he didn't know what that was, but he was very helpful when we clarified to requesting more information on gluten-free options. It was a little too eye-opening, as he implied many items are made in the same fryer - things made earlier in the day/process were safer than others, even if they are labeled gluten free on the menu. That was good - yet disheartening - to know. Also, when we were greeted, our server asked us if we had menus, to which we said we did not. He asked if we had been seated, and we said we had seated ourselves. He implied we should have been seated, but I did not see any sign coming in stating we had to wait for a server to seat us, and no one working there made any attempt at eye contact with us as we came in, which led us to the assumption that it was seat-yourself. You can do better here, please focus on having someone greet guests as they come in. Awkward moments aside, you get good food and drink here, and it's definitely a spot to consider for food, drinks, and an overall enjoyable experience. read more

Even though I don't drink alcohol, I finally decided to give the food at Brown's Brewing Company a try. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. To start, I ordered Brown's popular chicken wings and they lived up to the hype. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. In addition, they had a lot of meat on the bones and excellent flavor. These were simply delicious chicken wings. Next, I ordered the Buffalo Mac and Cheese Burger with onion rings. Knowing that, the burger was pretty good. To elaborate, the burger was juicy and the buffalo mac and cheese had just the right amount of cheesiness and heat. Also, the bun was brioche style and was toasted nicely. However, I do think the burger would have been better if it had bacon on it because it would have added a nice crunch. We attended a Baptism Party at Browns Brewery. We were in a cozy upstairs room that had 3 tables which was perfect for our sized crowd. Since the staff had to run up and down stairs for everything, the service was a tiny bit slower than normal, definitely acceptable though. The menu was very diverse, there was plenty to choose from. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with Sweet Potato Fries which was very good. My wife had the French Dip, again very good. The food arrived hot so our waiter must have sprinted up the stairs... lol If you have an event, Browns can handle it, and do it good. I've been here a few times and it always lovely. I like to sit on the deck overlooking the water and drink a whiskey sour. Last time I was there a mermaid came up out the water and snatched up some lil boy and brought him down to the depths. It wasn't a big deal though. I'm spoiled since I have Brown's' (not sure how to apostrophize that, sorry grammar cops) Hoosick Falls right in my backyard but I can safely say I'll be putting the Troy location into the rotation. Had a great experience Friday night and if it was that good on a busy night, well, I have no reservations about coming any day of the week. A friend of mine noticed some Instagram posts that this Brown's was hosting a 90's trivia night and threw it in our massive group-text. Six of us ended up making the trip. We arrived around 6:30 and were seated quickly upstairs. Our server was super nice (I can't remember her name but she wasn't supposed to work that night but offered to because she had a 90s-inspired onesie she wanted to wear and is a second-grade teacher) and attentive. She answered menu questions, dealt with a few substitutions and was a fun addition to our crew the whole night. Everyone ate something different: a beyond burger, the chicken sandwich, smokehouse club, salmon blt, buffalo chicken wrap and I had the loaded spiedies which, I promise you, are three meals (and I'm not, in any sense of the word, small). Everything was really hot and fresh and delicious and the presentation was great. I was mostly drinking seltzers last night (designated driver) but my friends ran through the beers and loved the ones we don't have access to locally. I got a Joann at one point (it was the lowest ABV of the IPAs) it was also fresh and delicious. I get really weird about places that don't clean their tap lines. Brown's is not one of those places. In addition to our server we had two other runners who were bringing drinks. It was crazy: we didn't have to wait once (but would have been happy to). Event registration started at 7 and we were able to easily register our team and got a fun little goodie bag. There were five rounds of five questions each plus a tie-breaker. The rounds were 1 - 90's movies 2 - 90's sports 3 - 90's music (we lost on the tiebreaker!) 4 - 90's television 5 - 90's everyting Because they have speakers throughout we were able to play upstairs and most people got the hint pretty quickly that if they weren't playing trivia it was appreciated if they kept it down. Weirdly, they did (I've never seen this during another trivia night where people are dining). This was a special, annual trivia shindig but they do music trivia the first Thursday of the month and we will definitely be back for that! I have always enjoyed browns. I am an elevated bar food kinda person and love beer. It was quiet when I was there last night, but we got great service and great food. They have a nice beer list, there were only two IPAs this night which are my fave. I sided with the rubber ducky. I had two drafts and also got a 4pk to go for only $10, which is quite reasonable. I really enjoyed it. Super hazy. Food! My friend is a vegetarian and they offer really good options. She simply freaked when she saw the French onion soup was vegetable based! She loved it so much. We also ordered the loaded fries, they were phenomenal, like of course loaded fries are gonna be good, but the fresh pico, melty cheeses and aioli was so fantastic - this was also VG. For her dinner she got the cauliflower "wings" which are her fave. She enjoyed them the same as always. For my entree I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad. I've had it here twice now and I love it. There's a ton of high quality blue cheese crumbles, the veggies were nice a fresh. I did ask for grilled chicken, and got crispy but honestly no complaints here. The hot Buffalo sauce had great heat. Can't speak on behalf of dinner or lunch, but certainly can comment positively on a midday snack at a very clean, wide open, refurbished old brewery. This was the snack before the meal so we settled in on big 'ol fat pretzels and a couple Bourbon Chill's. The pretzels are a perfect, but filling app.. aka, oversized, definitely over the top tasting big old fat pretzel. There are 2 varieties of pretzel here; the typical one like you may have had and a beer battered pretzel. Better of the two is the beer battered. Cranberry margaritas with sugar or salt on rim were delicious! Artichoke Dip was a little cool, but we were able to drive right into the creamy amazingness! I've been a fan of Brown's Brewing for a long time now. There was that time I had to take a work trip on my birthday, and started it off with a morning pint of Oatmeal Stout at the Albany International Airport. There's nothing wrong with oatmeal for breakfast. And then there are all the refreshing fruited sours being brewed in Troy, with seasonal fruit. I've enjoyed their beer at festivals and events. I've purchased six packs for home, brought back a growler or two, and even made sure to include one of their beers at my son's bar mitzvah. However, I've never been to the restaurant on my own dime until this weekend. It was probably a mistake to grab food in advance of the Melt N' Toast grilled cheese festival. My plan was to just go in for a beer, and as I was sipping on their delightful pilsner, I noticed the buffalo cauliflower. Cauliflower is a vegetable. I need to eat more vegetables. And there probably wouldn't be any at the grilled cheese festival. So obviously, I had to get an order of buffalo cauliflower. Especially since I love buffalo everything. A bowl cost $10 and really it was more than I should have eaten. It could easily be split with at least another person. However, I cannot let good food go to waste, so I ate the whole thing. Ranch dressing and all. Mental note: next time ask to see if blue cheese is available. The servers over at the bar were not only incredibly accommodating, but they were while they were jamming. Watching the economy and speed of movement was really something else. Who needs TV? In the end, I got my Brown's stamp in the Capital Craft Beverage Trail passport. I got my phone's battery charged up to a level that would get me through the next few hours. And I got a belly full of delicious deep fried vegetables. It was an early afternoon full of winning. I just wish I was smarter, and had given myself more time to digest, before spending the next few hours eating grilled cheese sandwiches. read more
