She was right! Insanely spacious, comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast, rooftop deck, restaurant upstairs. Beautiful common area on the mezzanine level to enjoy a coffee and pastry taking a respite during the afternoon between seeing the city. All in all, Bairro Alto was great! Walked from here to two Michelin two starred restaurants, an amazing pizza place, walking tour of the city, the world's best chocolate cake, and so much more. There is really everything right here you would want. Keep in mind it's a classic boutique hotel. That means small and narrow elevators. So sometimes you just have to be a little patient. Come for the friendly service, amazing location, comfortable beds, beautiful rooms, and know that this is a great place to stay in the heart of Lisbon. Highly recommend. Tip: If you are staying over the weekend, get a floor as high as you can and/or have a sound machine if you want to sleep well because the street noise is loud with people out and about on Friday and Saturday nights.

The hotel offers me a very small room - that I had to pay for separately - with twin beds. Seriously?? They have coffee cups, glasses, and a hot pot in the room, but no coffee no tea no sugar, no cream no spoons. Frankly, I think this place is a shit hole compared to the other places I've been able to stay in Portugal... I wish I could rate it no stars, but the lowest you can go on Google reviews is one star.. I highly suggest you book else where. The hotel MARQUÊS DE POMBAL was very nice. How can this be called a four star hotel?? And the parking garage is abysmal.

As former inn owners we were VERY impressed with the hotel...and slept very well…read more Where to start? Everything exceeded our expectations which are high. We were booked in for five nights.... We asked for a quiet end of corridor room and were given one however it overlooked the side of a square and thus we thought it could be noisy....how wrong we were. The glazing is superb and despite having two doors out to balcony we heard nothing. The room was compact but very well designed having enough furniture to be useful but none to get in the way. The small bathroom had a deep tub with excellent shower over it. A small fridge kept my quickly delivered small jug of fresh milk cool. We travel with our own tea bags so did not use the in room espresso machine on this occasion. The bed with an excellent king mattress, pillows and linen were top notch. It is rare to find such a good selection of pillows in a hotel these days. Most importantly the room preparation crew did an excellent job and the whole hotel was spotless. Being give some custard tarts, a small bottle of port upon arrival and a bottle of red vino for our last night were lovely touches. ALL the staff we came across were friendly and helpful and the waiters in the restaurant were delightful and chatty in the best way. We ate in the bar one night and found the selection of foods to be very interesting and tasty. Breakfast buffet was exceptionally managed and never looked unkept or swamped and provided a plethora of foods including some excellent yoghurt in little glass jars as well as a impressive selection of hot and cold food. Would we return....you bet as the hotel is central to most of the sights in Lisbon and right opposite the train station for trains to Sintra. We left for the short taxi ride to the airport and hour too early as Lisbon airport which was exceptionally busy, seemed able to cope with hordes of passengers until you get to your boarding gate where seats are at a minimum.

The hotel was clean and the staff made the experience extremely pleasant. Everyone we interacted with was so helpful and welcoming. When we first reached the hotel, the Uber driver let us out at a location that wasn't exactly in front of the hotel. As we were walking, we got turned around and called the hotel to let them know that we couldn't figure it out and one of the front desk's associates actually came out to find us and walk us back to the hotel even helping us with our luggage on the walk back to the hotel. If you're visiting Lisbon and want to be located in an area that has so much to offer and with so much energy, I would recommend this hotel

The location is also central for getting around however you do have to walk a bit to catch a Bolt due to the streetcar ROW in the front of the building. This is mentioned on the booking site so I wasn't surprised but did find it mildly inconvenient. That being said, they upgraded my room which would have been a major perk except the upgraded room was right next to the construction next door. I was close enough to hear the voices of the workers. To say it was a gawd awful experience is putting it mildly. I would have much preferred the original room to be spared that noise Morning and Night. Never again.

It hit the spot nothing fancy, but exactly what I needed when I was starving and just wanted a bite with my drink. Overall, a lovely, chill place to enjoy a cocktail with a view. I ate more Pastéis de Nata (#iykyk) at this hotel than at any other location in Portugal...and I ate Pastéis de Nata at every location I was in over a ten day stay. This hotel has a homey feel to it that helps you unwind from a day of walking the hills of Lisbon. The only reason I was sad to leave Lisbon was because we had to check out of As Janelas Verdes.

The bathroom scale was a nice touch since we were determined to eat nutritious food while also doing a lot of walking around Lisbon. I wish there was a mail service for sending postcards, etc. As a digital designer I liked the room being fully automated. Overall it's a decent boutique hotel. We tried a bit of everything: croquetas, cheese plate, potato skins, and bruschetta. I wasn't a huge fan of the bruschetta only because it didn't have any sauce. It was just tomatoes and meat on a little toast. Everything else was great though! Come here for a snack and a drink at sunset!
