That being said, they upgraded my room which would have been a major perk except the upgraded room was right next to the construction next door. I was close enough to hear the voices of the workers. During turn down one night, the cleaning crew left a beautiful Tivoli bookmark in my book on the nightstand, and I will never forget that beautiful touch. We also loved the 24 hr room service. We ordered beef fillet with foie gras which was amazing and cheesy pizza I think around 3am. Did not taste like 3am food. Was phenomenal. Lobby: a work of art. You'll see many beautiful people flowing in and out. Someone is always present to assist you, whether it be with finding a restaurant or booking a ride. Pool: The pool is a little lackluster but we weren't there for the pool anyways, and the private garden was great for intimate drinks and snacks. Loved the staff here and the very nice pool restrooms. SEEN Sky Bar: when I stayed here, I did not realize that this rooftop bar was a highlight of the city. On weekends closer to 8 PM, it starts to get incredibly packed up here and I would highly recommend a reservation if you're planning on grabbing more than just a drink. The view is breathtaking, and the drinks are delicious, but are not on the cheaper side. We let them know of our 9:45 am arrival and greatly appreciated that they had a room ready for us and even upgraded to a city view. The room was a comfortable size with a large table and two chairs. The Fine hotel welcome gift was three maroons each representing different tastes of locations in Portugal with a small bottle of port - really nice welcome gift! For night lights, if you leave the closet door open, the light is motion activated and the vanity mirror light can be left on. The shower was in the tub with high sides. There is a toilet and separate bidet. My two dislikes were: It was difficult to get to the toilet unless you closed the bathroom door or squeezed around the door, since the toilet was behind the door. The other was the shower - you had to get into the tub to turn on the water, so you are likely to get some cold water on you unless you knew exactly how to adjust the various knobs so the water came out of the handheld showerhead vs the overhead shower or the faucet. I appreciated the Nespresso espresso maker and refrigerator and bottles of water. I also appreciated the new boxes of tissues when I showed an empty box due to my cold/bronchitis. Wonderfully plush slippers - I think the best I have felt in any hotel. The hotel is on the "Champs-Élysées" Portugal version street with luxury stores and tented vendors on the weekends. It is a short walk, 10 minutes, to the Parque Edwardo VII park where the Hop On/Hop Off and Cityrama Gray Line tour buses are located. I was impressed by the breakfast buffet every day and the staff. We came first thing and also one day towards the end - the food was always fresh, refreshed, and delicious - with eggs, breakfast meats, cold cuts, cheeses, waffles, and beautiful fresh, sliced fruit and several fruit juices. You can also get coffee or cappuccinos. The staff was always attentive, whisking away a used plate and giving you fresh silverware. We ate at Seen Lisboa and Cervejaria Liberdade Portugese restaurants enjoyed the cuisine.

We asked for a quiet end of corridor room and were given one however it overlooked the side of a square and thus we thought it could be noisy....how wrong we were. The glazing is superb and despite having two doors out to balcony we heard nothing. The room was compact but very well designed having enough furniture to be useful but none to get in the way. The small bathroom had a deep tub with excellent shower over it. A small fridge kept my quickly delivered small jug of fresh milk cool. We travel with our own tea bags so did not use the in room espresso machine on this occasion. The bed with an excellent king mattress, pillows and linen were top notch. It is rare to find such a good selection of pillows in a hotel these days. Most importantly the room preparation crew did an excellent job and the whole hotel was spotless. Being give some custard tarts, a small bottle of port upon arrival and a bottle of red vino for our last night were lovely touches. ALL the staff we came across were friendly and helpful and the waiters in the restaurant were delightful and chatty in the best way. We ate in the bar one night and found the selection of foods to be very interesting and tasty. Breakfast buffet was exceptionally managed and never looked unkept or swamped and provided a plethora of foods including some excellent yoghurt in little glass jars as well as a impressive selection of hot and cold food. Would we return....you bet as the hotel is central to most of the sights in Lisbon and right opposite the train station for trains to Sintra. We left for the short taxi ride to the airport and hour too early as Lisbon airport which was exceptionally busy, seemed able to cope with hordes of passengers until you get to your boarding gate where seats are at a minimum.

When we got there we found our table was a little too much in the sun and they were super nice about letting us move slightly to be in the shade. They also were able to close the slats on the patio roof cover to let less sun in. There were a couple kids menu items, I just remember the spaghetti and the kids enjoyed that. Cheese and meat platter - 4 stars Tempura green beans - 3.5 stars Zucchini pesto fettuccine - 4 stars. A bit al dente but the sauce was great. Sweet sour cod - 4.5 stars. Perfectly cooked and meat easily coming apart. Sur and turf - 4.5 stars. Beef super tender and tasty. Asked for medium rare but had to send it back was a little too rare, then it was perfect. Strawberry margarita - 4 stars. Quite light. Pisco sour - 3.5 stars. Really sweet. Passion fruit Caipirinha - 4 stars.
