Well, I'm not sure where to begin. First the hotel lost my reservation and I didn't have a room. I had a confirmed King room that I booked and pre-paid through my travel agent. The hotel offers me a very small room - that I had to pay for separately - with twin beds. Seriously?? They have coffee cups, glasses, and a hot pot in the room, but no coffee no tea no sugar, no cream no spoons. Frankly, I think this place is a shit hole compared to the other places I've been able to stay in Portugal... I wish I could rate it no stars, but the lowest you can go on Google reviews is one star.. I highly suggest you book else where. The hotel MARQUÊS DE POMBAL was very nice. How can this be called a four star hotel?? And the parking garage is abysmal. read more

I stayed in mundial hotel in lisbon. The worst hotel. Poor housekeeping and someone stole 599$ from our room. CCTV showed that housekeeping went inside our room twice that day . The first housekeeping stayed inside for only 2 minutes And didnt do any cleaning according to the hotel director( Tatiana). Tatiana ( hotel director ) is aware and didnt do anything. She delayed the investigation and didnt want us to report to the police. read more

This review is basically about the rooftop bar not the hotel itself. We came here because we read somewhere that it was the place to be and to have a good view. The view was OK. It was just super busy when we went and super windy and cold! And we went in May! Customer service was just OK. Wine was good! But that and the semi pretty view made up for all of the rest! If you're going here, just for the rooftop bar, I would skip it! read more

Hotel Mundial truly exceeded our expectations. The hotel is centrally situated at the top of Martim Moniz Plaça which is beautifully lit at night. On the right-hand side of the hotel is a convenience store where you can get things like nibbles and wines. Also the very famous tram 28 that circles Lisbon is a stone's throw away from the hotel. When you turn to the left-hand side of the hotel you will find the Rua Augusta with row after row of restaurants. We found our room very spacious and facing the plaça, they also changed and tidied our room on daily basis. If making a reservation here make sure that breakfast is included as we found it to be well worth it. You can either have your breakfast indoors or in the backyard. The hotel also houses a couple of restaurants; a wine cellar, and a famous Rooftop bar with a stunning view of Lisbon. We found this place very accessible to train and tram stations, very near city attractions. This place is highly recommended and will consider staying here again. read more

Had a great time in Portugal (Lisbon)!! Hotel Mundial had many great takeaways and some that were interesting to say the least. The location was perfect due to it being in center of the city where there was easy access to the shops, popular restaurants, and touristic sites. The rooms have different thermostats/AC units, which either put you in a ice cap or a muggy type environment. It took quite awhile how to figure that out. The staff were friendly, the inside was decorated with a club motif. The Elevators were so narrow and actually went out of service on us for 30 minutes....thank goodness I was not claustrophobic...well we made it. Enjoy. read more

Location is convenient but there were other hotels in the surrounding areas that were more centrally located. We came in a day early before our actual tour began in order to visit another town. They placed us in the smallest room possible with a tub that drains so slow that we had to turn off the water to keep the tub from filling up too quickly. Very inconvenient. The rooftop view isn't too spectacular as is the breakfast buffet. Both were just OK. The staff that welcomes you at the door and porters are super friendly (thus my star rating) whereas, the reception staff at the lobby lacks the warm friendliness that the Portuguese culture is well known for. Perhaps, the staff at the lobby could use more training in the area of hospitality. Last but not least...I do NOT recommend purchasing any outside tours/excursions through their reservations desk/department. It was my mistake going through the hotel as opposed to going through a third party that organizes mini tours directly. I had been working with someone at their reservation department for a specific tour for over a month prior to my arrival. I tripled check all the logistics before my arrival only to find on the day of my tour that things have completely changed. I was beyond disappointed that I did not get the experience I had originally requested for just because of another couple who booked a last minute excursion. Basically, tour group the hotel works with decided to cut my experience short to accommodate the other party's request. Bad business practice to get more money and compromise safety and quality. Driver was speeding through the highway to get us to multiple destinations in the allotted time. Was holding on for dear life and praying in the car the whole time. I took my issue to the front desk the next morning because the hotel reservations department was closed for the day. They offered to refund me the difference of what I was quoted for originally versus the tour I got sucked into at the last minute. Thank you for the measly 20 Euro refund when all I wanted was an explanation of the last minute change but more importantly a sincere apology for their mistake. Lisbon was my least favorite big city to visit in Europe. However, I did hear from other travelers that the smaller towns like Porto is a better place to visit/stay when in Portugal. read more

Pretty good hotel. Fantastic location for exploring on foot. Beautifully situated near several major monuments/squares as well as near the waterfront. Book this place for 'location location location! Very friendly staff, clean rooms. Our 4th floor room though was very noisy - poor sealed window and situated above busy street. Nice breakfast buffet as well. read more

My huge complaint. The housekeeping staff will literally yell to talk to each other down the hallways. Every morning. It was so ridiculous by the end of my trip. I needed earplugs just to sleep. If you're an really early riser, it would be fine for you. read more

This location is absolutely ideal to stay. It's in the middle of everything. From grocery store to pastries to a lot of good food restaurants. We arrived at the hotel at 10 a.m. expecting to just leave our luggage and check in later in the day. Milton at the front desk got us into a room right away. What a pleasant surprise. It was welcomed news since we had been up 24hrs. and exhausted. Milton is top notch, helping us out answering many questions and directing us to the right places in ver several days. Always a smile and wanting to help. I hope he is considered a valued employee. The hotel restaurant was ok. The roof top for a drink was great as the view was beautiful. Loved this hotel right in the heart of Lisbon. There are plenty of shopping, restaurants and bars to walk to in the area. The breakfast buffet was delicious, tons of options for coffee, bread (croissants), cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruits (kiwi, grapefruit), juices, and cereals. The room had a huge window, which you can open for fresh air. The bed was comfortable, nice restroom with bidet. The shower water pressure is really good. The room has a smaller smart TV - lots of channels. There weren't really any extra outlets, except for one in the restroom. If you are coming from the USA, make sure you bring an adapter!! If you forget there are some electronics stores nearby. The elevators are tiny (typical for Europe). read more

Centrally located. Rooms are nice. Showers/tubs are outdated, and I experienced moments of extreme temp changes while showering. Complimentary breakfast is really nice, with great varieties. Staff is super friendly. Hotel restaurant is at the top of the bldg, with outstanding views of the city, but the food is meh; both the restaurant and the bar(by the lobby) make subpar cocktails, and quite stingy with the alcohol. read more

Globus chose this hotel for a Portugal/Spain tour. While our tour was cancelled while we had just begun the tour, Globus paid for us to remain at the hotel a few more nights until we could find a flight back home. We first had a welcome dinner when we arrived. They served us chicken and of course wine. The best part was the baked Alaska dessert. It comes flaming at the frosting. The staff at the Mundial were very nice with suggestions of where to eat. They also helped us make phone calls to American Airlines so we could change our flights. I don't particularly like European showers where the glass only covers half of the tub. But the water pressure is strong. There is liquid soap on a pump attached to the shower's wall. There's a full set of toiletries, enough towels, bathrobes and a bidet. There's also one of those makeup mirrors. I love that they have heating and AC. Lisbon was still a bit chilly. Rooms have a mini bar, usb connections, extra blankets, windows you can open, a night stand, a desk and a comfortable bed. I took off a star because you can hear some noise from outside. Globus treated us to a sort of farewell dinner to those few left from the tour. They served baked Alaska again. Yum. I wasn't crazy about the beef. Our waiter was outstanding. While they were only serving red and white wine, I asked for Port. He brought me a glass of port. The hotel is in a great location and close to some squares and Avenida Liberdade which has shops and restaurants. read more

Central location. Standard sized room with a "double" bed consisting two beds, which isn't really satisfactory, if you know what I mean. And, the walls are rather thin (we can hear our neighbor) and the windows don't reduce the outside noise (so you hear the street noises on the second floor, anyway). These are the major negatives. Otherwise, the WiFi is strong in the room and lobby. The staff is super friendly with a greeter on the street. Checkin is very smooth and they will take your bags if you arrive internationally very early, as we did. The top floor bar is closed, unfortunately for restoration, but the restaurant is open on the 8th floor and has a panoramic view. Breakfast buffet on the first floor is pretty good, standard fare with lots of options. However watch the coffee machine. There are three places for your cup, so you have a 66% chance of putting it in the wrong spot. It's sort of entertaining to see. Overall, it is a three star hotel with nothing truly exceptional, which earns its three stars. read more

The service is on point , the menu includes small dishes for sharing as well as sandwiches and easy dishes. The prices are a bit higher than usual but you are also paying to have the view. The terrace is usually not crowded so it's a nice spot to get away from the hustle and bustle. read more

My wife and I stayed for a week the first week of May 2024. Staff wonderful (the only positive). A summary of my review is... it is a 2-3 stars hotel hidden and charging as a 4 stars hotel label. Two times I requested a changing room, but they always said that no other rooms were available. From the arrival, our room had a strong SEWER smell. After reporting this, their solution was to use a scent spray and open the room window. The bathtub was extremely narrow, which made it dangerous to take a bath. In addition, both the bathtub and the sink were clogged. At the end of a shower, the dirty water reached half of the bathtub. Nothing was done about this after it was reported. The AC was not working when we arrived, and the technician arrived 45 minutes later to tell us that there was a keypad hidden in the remote control to activate the AC. The waiters at the Rooftop bar were extremely rude, forcing you to order almost immediately when you arrived. Also, the bar didn't has heaters to warm up a little because it was cold. The breakfast buffet was ok, similar to the one you find in 2-star hotels. If hotel administrators reply to my reviews, please save your time, don't do it, because you do nothing about our comments. What I am reporting has been reported in previous reviews and nothing has been done. I'm sad I did not read the the full reviews. I DO NOT recommend this hotel. read more

Stayed here on two occasions. Even though the location is great, it would not be my first choice to return. Staff is pretty inept. Even though we provided our passports to check in, they gave us someone else's room. Good thing we checked before we went in. The rooms are fairly large, similar to an average American sized hotel room. Our blow dryer didn't work so we asked for them to send one up to us. They never did. Oh well, guess it was a curly hair day. The breakfast area is only okay. Somehow it feels more like a conference room converted to a restaurant than an actual restaurant. Breakfast options on the buffet were mostly standard for Portugal but they were lacking in their pastry choices. Also the way they put the pastries on the side make them more of an after thought. read more

Location is absolutely perfect for exploring the sights in Lisbon. Most squares, shopping and museums are withing walking distance of the hotel. There's even a park directly in front of the hotel that usually have free concerts and vendors outside almost every day. Morning breakfast was all right and service was helpful. Rarely needed staff assistance but they seemed willing to help. Rooms are your typical hotel rooms but comfortable especially if you only need it to sleep. Wi-fi worked the best downstairs in the lobby. Would only consider Hotel Mundial for its convenient location but I'm sure there are other options. read more

When parking our car in this hotel's lot, the parking attendant was crazy rude. He banged on the side of the car wildly when we didn't go the way he wanted us to, despite him not giving us clear directions on where to park. He spoke very aggressively, even shouted that we were going in the wrong direction. Not the type of behaviour you'd expect from people working at a hotel that's charging over €100 a night in a European city centre. Otherwise a decent place but not for what we paid. I wouldn't pay more than €50 a night for this place if I had to do it again. read more

The hotel was gross. We walked in and it immediately smelled like fish from the restaurant. The smell of fish was replaced with a musty smell in our room. The bed was very hard and the carpet felt damp. There was also no phone number to call down to reception. We had to look online for the phone number. I came here expecting really slow Internet speed but it was surprisingly good. However, I was just doing simple stuff like checking emails and surfing the Web. It's not a perfect hotel with impeccable service but it's pass-able - it's clean and in a great location. The tram passes right in front of the hotel regularly (just remember that if you take the 28, you'd have to take two 28's and not just one back to the hotel). The close proximity to shopping blocks make it a desirable hotel to stay in. It can get noisy (loud music waking you up in the early morning and cars rushing by most hours) and the tiny elevator actually trapped a bunch of people in my party in it, but it's a good vacation hotel. The restaurant serves pretty good food and the rooftop is a must - visit place. Would not recommend it for business travel. read more
