You know the drill: you let the person know which pieces you want and then they'll get them from the flower glass fridge. But there's something about hand-picking your stems yourself. Petalos, on Fair St. in Kingston, hit that nail on the head! I met the man behind Petalos- who's bringing a whimsical and cozy oasis to the space. Brian's love of flowers is on full display throughout his shop. Whether my visit on an early Saturday morning was spontaneous or not, the succulents, house plants, pots, gardening items and loose bloom selections here are almost endless. The several stems I selected to create my own arrangement at home all varied in prices from $3-$5 He'd mentioned the names of my individual cuttings- but their names escaped me. I was here for one thing only and Brian made my day. My stems were gathered in a bouquet, wrapped in heavy duty brown paper, lined in green tissue paper and tied elegantly with a navy blue ribbon (with attached care notes). My visit started and ended in a high note. Everything about Petalos- from the wonderful and pleasant customer service, design and product, will lead me to repeat.

Plus I wanted to stop in to pick up a flower arrangement for my 10 year-old(?) neighbor, who appeared in Babes in Toyland at the Woodstock Playhouse. Hops P. is technically a florist shop- but I found far more home décor than floral stems. Candles, textiles and décor items seemed to take over Petunia's space with just several blooms on display. All great though. I made do with the limited selection of stems available and chose some colorful ones for my neighbor. For $25 (¯\_(ツ)_/¯), it was... nice and so was the service. I probably wouldn't return for the hefty floral price and/or the limited stems selection, but they do carry natural lavender and other botanical skin oils that felt silky on the skin and may return for those.

After numerous phone calls to Burgevine Florist, being assured each time the orchid would be send , my friend never got an orchid. After a week when I asked her once again if she received flowers, she said "Tell them to give you your money back. " as she had not received anything from them. I did so and several days later they credited my account. Their products are lovely & I wish I could say otherwise, but sad to say this was a very unpleasant experience.

It was a large bouquet, too, filled with big pink-red roses, smaller mauve tea roses, chrysanthemums, white delphiniums, purple statis, and baby's breath. Two giant helium balloons and a gorgeous bow in unusual ribbon material graced the rest of the bouquet. Best of all was the styling of the arrangement: no holes, beautiful toppers and lovely low-liers to make the bouquet especially balanced. I can't say enough good things.
