UPDATE. My friends and I reserved a table for Juneteenth, and we were promptly seated as soon as we arrived. The entire evening had good vibes. We knew Brownstone would be the perfect place to celebrate. All positive feedback! 1. Cleanliness and Management The establishment is always clean. I was to witness the owner personally wiping down tables and adjusting furniture. Seeing an owner take such visible pride in their business and never being "too good" to work really stands out to me and sets a great tone for the venue. 2. Happy Hour, Drinks, and Vibe Their happy hour is absolutely amazing, with affordable prices and great options. It normally stops at 7:00 PM, but they extended it until 9:00 PM last night! The drinks were made to order, arrived shortly after ordering, and tasted great. They weren't so strong that you couldn't enjoy them, but they definitely packed a punch. The atmosphere was flawless thanks to the staff and 2 DJs who kept the music upbeat and perfect. The entire crowd was having a time, singing along on cue and swaying to the music. 3. The Food We ordered pasta and happy hour appetizers, and everything was delicious. From presentation to taste, the kitchen delivered exactly what we were hoping for. I have absolutely no complaints. It was another fantastic experience celebrating a great holiday with an even better crowd. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! Went to Brownstone Social Lounge looking for hookah and a chill time. The wings were super good and the music was really entertaining. It gave "clubby" vibes more than I expected, but I chilled in the front by the "fireplace" and watched the football game lol. Only reason I gave it 4/5 was due to the air in the building made the wings get cold really fast. But it was fun, the hookah was good and they replaced the coals without asking. Definitely work checking out. read more

Imagine, if you will, two white people in their 60's walking into a bar full of black people. They looked at my wife and me and asked us if we wanted our food to go! We stayed -- and had a great time!! The drinks were great (bartender was fantastic), the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere is welcoming. My wife grew up on R&B, and the DJ was awesome. Love this place. There are not a lot of predominantly Black establishments like this downtown. It is often referred to as "Cheers" as a lot of people frequent here regularly. They have a really great happy hour. Reasonable drink and food choices. Try the Brownstone Bourdon and Orange Honey Glaze wings. It's typically a 30 and up spot. On the weekend the crowd does tend to be a little younger. If you are looking for good music/ food or just somewhere to catch the game- this is the place. Seating can be a little limited but it's a very welcoming environment. read more

On the recommendation of a local, I came to the social lounge to meet with some incoming classmates. We came for Happy Hour and it was a blast. The drinks are super reasonably priced and they're strong. I ordered a Long Beach and a Peach martini. Both drinks were extremely well made. Also, the food served during happy hour is delicious. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo flatbread and it came fresh out of the oven. It was piping hot and a perfect snack while watching the Olympics on the flat screens in the lounge. 10/10 will be coming here again. Great place!! We stopped in early after work around 4:30-5pm and did not leave until 11:30pm had a fantastic time watched the game and then the D.J came in. He played the best old school hip hop and R&B late 80's and 90's. The food was great, the service was great, and the drinks were great. Always a good time when I'm meeting friends here for drinks. Great urban vibes where you can sit back, relax and enjoy one of their many delicious appetizers. The cheese artichoke dip and wings are my personal favorite. If you're not looking to eat they have great happy hour deals on their hookahs. Consistently good service, no matter when or how many times I visit. There aren't many places in MKE where you can hear hip hop/r&b in a relaxed environment, especially downtown. Albeit small, Brownstone provides great music and a chill vibe. Their waitresses are ALWAYS friendly and relatively quick, even on their busiest nights. The food is decent, the drinks are good, and if hookah is your thing, they offer that too. It gets really warm in the winter, but I frequent this place often in the summer. Honest review: Terrible, don't go, don't waste your time. A group of 7 of us walked in around 12:45 last Saturday night. Decent but not too busy, we were looking for a chill spot that played good hip hop music. But NO ONE served us. I repeat, no one would serve us. Not one bartender even glanced up from their phone or washing glasses to acknowledged us. We stood there for 15 mins, thought about splitting a bottle and ordering a hookah, tried to ask another person who was behind the bar, not sure if they were a bartender, and they literally just walked away. Couldn't get service or a drink. Must not care about making money!? I am so appalled and disappointed.... A group of 7 people that would of spent a lot of money in your bar, y'all lost our business forever. read more

Decided to try this place out on date night. Great atmosphere! We were expecting something a bit more chill and laid back, but they had a DJ for their one year anniversary. The DJ had a great mix of new and old hip hop and RnB on deck and we were not complaining. Attentive, fun and friendly staff! Drama free crowd of 30+ up crowd. Our hookah lasted FOREVER!
