Great happy hour and espresso martini choice! We decided to try this place one afternoon as we always passed it walking through third ward. This place is known for their craft cocktails and craft beer. Unfortunately, when we went they didn't have any of their beer on tap and were a little short staffed for the night. The team and bartenders their did do a great job with recommendations and helping us navigate the menu. They also specialize in unique twists on espresso martinis which my wife and I enjoyed. This place also brings in some live music from time to time with a real moody date night ambience for you to enjoy. This was my first time at Copper Turtle and the espresso martini with vodka was the best one I've had in Milwaukee! I was there for their espresso martini special on Wednesday so I didn't try any other flavors since it was cheaper to get the special. The bar itself is very cute and clean. The bartender was super friendly and mixed our drinks quickly. I will say with the special the martini was $11 and they're originally $22 which I wouldn't pay often. read more

Copper Turtle is a fun vibe! Though "brewery" is in their title, I feel like cocktails are more of their thing. They have an solid list of signature drinks, all creative names and concoctions. They even have a whole section just for different types of espresso martinis! Shockingly I didn't try one of those, so I'll have to return to do so. My husband and I came in on a Tuesday night date night and the place was very full with what seemed to be some kind of work happy hour. Nonetheless, the bartenders took care of us quickly! I had the Garden Life which was a minty/pear-like sparkling gimlet. I'm a gin gal, so thought this was a goodie. It had fresh lime juice and prosecco making it nice and refreshing. My husband got the hibiscus tequila cocktail (can't recall the name), and noted that even though it had good flavor it seemed to have very little tequila. He happily moved on to a cider afterwards. Went here mainly because the name sounded fun and it was a brewery I hadn't been to before. I'm happy to say they were packed on a Saturday night. My friend and I sat at my preferred spot of the bar, which meant we could watch all the cocktails get mixed and talk to the bartenders. There were definitely some fun ingredients being used! The two spots at the bar also happened to be the only spots left in the place. The place is listed as a brewery, but there are only 3 beers on tap. The cool thing is that the beers are tapped straight from the copper barrels that they are brewed in. To add to the drink options, they have an extensive, fun, and fancy cocktail menu. I'd estimate most 75% to 80% of people there that night were ordering cocktails. Since I saw it as a brewery first, my friend and I ordered two different beers. The zero fox given was listed as a dark lager, but it was the lightest tasting one I've ever had. Very drinkable and didn't weight you down. The lottie dottie almost tasted more like a kombucha, which was something we both really liked. Again a very light taste, but complex enough flavor that it could be an anytime of year beer. Definitely recommend this place. It has a great date night atmosphere and there are options in the drinks for everyone. I really want to come back and try some of their cocktails next. My only regret is that I wasn't able to get a beer glass with their logo on it. The hop turtle with wheat flippers is one of my favorite logos! read more

I went to the Copper Turtle for the first time after hearing friends rave about it! We arrived around 5:15 and it wasn't too crowded but definitely had filled up by 7pm when we left. I would say the counter ordering method is not that intuitive when you walk in. I sat down at a table to wait for my friends, but I didn't know you ordered at the counter next to the bar until my friend who had been there before told me. I would say it's okay to have that be the case, but it might have been nice for a bartender to guide us in the right direction, as I saw a few tables of individuals just sitting there waiting for someone to take their drink order. We arrived during happy hour and it was also ladies night! There was some confusion amongst the staff when ladies night started, but I was able to get the deal a little bit ahead of time, as they honored the original price they told me. The espresso martini I got for the ladies night deal was one of the best espresso martinis I have ever had! I know they have a few other espresso martinis in the menu so I would definitely be back to try the other choices. There was a decent amount of space to sit, but it was raining, so we couldn't utilize the patio. It was definitely a darker space inside. The bathrooms and the rest of the bar was super clean. It's a great spot to try new cocktails and start your day or end for a nice night cap. I recently relocated to the Third Ward. A friend in Pittsburgh told me that he's been drinking Paper Planes lately. So, I went to The Copper Turtle this week in search of a Paper Plane. Unfortunately, the bartender didn't have all of the ingredients. She DID make me a good alcohol-forward old fashioned. I might have to head to Bryant's for the Paper Plane! I dropped in here on a Friday evening and loved the vibe. They were playing music from the 2010's, it was darker and not too crowded. They had a great looking drink menu, but it felt like it took a long time to get the bartenders attention, and to get my drinks. After a couple of in-house beer samples, me and one of my friends landed on the lime lager and the amber. Both beers were perfect options on a hot day. There are a number of cocktails on the menu and I was surprised to see carajillo as an option. It hit the spot - well balanced and mild Licor 43 in the background. I did notice a fellow patron receive a drink with a smoked marshmallow so the cocktails are wide and varied. If/when I'm back in Milwaukee, I'll be sure to stop by. read more

The Copper Turtle is very 3rd ward. It is very modern and fancy looking within an old building. The space wasn't as big as I thought. The patio is nice but close to other patios and the sidewalk is busy. The inside is slightly dark and again nice but feels like a fancy Florida chain brewery. The worker was somewhat grumpy but offered a sample. They said they didn't do small pours but then asked if I wanted a 13oz. 13oz was $7 16oz (pint) was $8. The menu only listed the pint. I really liked the Seaweed beer and am picky. There's not many places to get craft beer in 3rd ward so I'd suggest this if you're / I'm in the area. read more

I've been in here a couple times and the experience varies greatly by bartender. Patrick is amazing a real pro behind the bar. He is entertaining and it's very fun to watch his process for creating customized cocktails for people. I felt that vibe disappear the moment the other bartender walked in. Maybe I was alone in that observation but she just didn't seem to want to be there at all. I get that it is tough to enjoy your job all the time but also I don't think that should be super apparent to a customer immediately. I've noticed this same bartender in a similar mood in other situations. So basically I will have a few if Patrick is working and will likely choose a different spot if not. Also worth noting they do the whole 20%, 25%, 30% for tip suggestions so make sure you pay attention to that. read more

I have tried to like this establishment but last time I was there 12/27/2025 willl be my last visit. I feel like The Copper Turtle is having a bit of an issue with who they are. They started out as a brewery with honestly pretty crappy and very few beers. Gave it a second try they were out of most of their beers and said they were a craft cocktail bar!! We stopped last week and I asked for a glass of wine and the bartender advised that they no longer offer wine as they don't sell enough!!! Ok so I asked for a glass of ice water and he said he has water water station by the door.... which was out of a plastic covered paper cup. That was the last straw. The décor is understated and elegant and their outside seating area allows for a nice community feel overlooking Catalano Square. We were traveling through Milwaukee and decided to stop for a quick auto tour as I have never seen Milwaukee. Saw some amazing cathedrals and lovely historical homes, including the Frederick Bogk home. Such a historic and beautiful city. Next up on the auto tour, Historic Third Ward. Stumbled across this cute brewery and decided to pause the auto tour and grab a cold one. This establishment is stunning! Beautiful decor throughout, with the copper vats being the star of the show! The bathrooms are also so pretty (and sparkling clean). We had the Zero Fox Given, a recommendation by our beer maiden, Margret! Served in a cool-ass tall Pilsner glass with The Copper Turtle's logo. Wow...so delicious and well chilled, because who likes warm beer (not me, the colder the better in my view)! Margret also had some cool 80's music playing too! Great find for sure. I really liked our quick auto tour of this cool city, and The Copper Turtle was the best! read more
