Made my exam date at the end of December, where I called to specifically ask if they were in…read morenetwork because it said they were a VSP "preferred" Provider, and had VSP all over their website. It is the only reason I went here because it was in network. During my exam , the doctor proceeds to tell me that they no longer accept VSP but they will take it for that day, which I assumed they meant at the in network price... IT WAS NOT. I went to pay, and they charge me $45 , which is the out of network charge. I don't know if doctors like to play I got you tactics with patients, but if I would have known (which they CLEARLY KNEW THEY WEREN'T GOING TO BE TAKING VSP ANYMORE) why would they lie, or not inform me of the change so I can make the decision to find another provider?). VSP also FALSEY advertises Newport vision center in Newport Oregon, STILL as a premier provider on their APP. SO VSP is also not innocent here. THEY ARE NOT A PROVIDER, THEY ARE NOT IN NETWORK! The Doctor is also retiring, and made it very clear he doesn't give a s**t about anything anymore. This should have been brought to my attention when I walked through the door, so I could changed my mind, or I should have gotten a notice or a phone call, at the minimum. When I made they appointment, the correct thing to do would be to say they will no longer be taking VSP when I made my appointment. VSP was the ONLY reason I went here.

I haven't been to see the optometrist here yet, but I broke the nose-piece on my glasses and have…read morebeen wearing by back-up pair (not bifocal-- and so only about half good for anything...) for nearly 2 weeks trying to find an eye-glass shop that could fix them. I just walked in off the street and the people -- though very busy with appointments -- were so kind and helpful! I waited less than 5 minutes, and someone came and got my glasses -- then 5 minutes later they were all repaired! and I can see just fine, again. There was no charge, and everyone was very helpful! So thank you, Eye Care Center -- I'll be back when it's time for new glasses!

I took my mother here yesterday to get her eyes checked because she was experiencing abnormal…read morevision issues. My mother is 67 and has needed glasses for almost 30 years. The doctor dilated her eyes and spent five minutes with her, and told her she had 20/20 vision which she is very far from having-- even after she explained she was having sincere issues seeing road signs. Additionally, the woman at the front desk handed me my mother's drivers license and told me she needed the insurance card for a few more minutes. During that time my mom got called back to see the doctor, so we did not get the insurance card back. We have called twice to request that the front desk woman check around for the card. She will not let us speak or talk when we try to explain the situation and just talks right over us. She also was gaslighting the situation and even lied and said that she had brought both cards out into the lobby to us. This is utterly not true. She handed me the drivers license through the window, and then told me she needed the insurance card for a few more minutes to do one other thing. And then a ton of people came in and got in line, and my mother got called back into the doctors office, so she never gave us back the insurance card. But now she says that that would've never happened and she always gives everyone both cards back at once and she remembers walking it out to us in the lobby. So, I'm pretty much thinking that she probably handed the card back to someone else in the lobby, or just completely lost the card. But now, my elderly mother who is not even in her home state, has no medical insurance cards because a lady won't take the time to listen to the fact that she indeed did not give us back my mothers insurance card-- and she won't quit gaslighting the situation. Like I get it, if you made a mistake that's OK, we just really need her card back. This is one of the worst doctor experiences we have had. The Doctor who looked at my mothers eyes did not do a thorough review and obviously had no understanding of her eye problems whatsoever. We now have a lost insurance card on top of everything. We definitely do not recommend this place whatsoever. There is no good customer service, and the doctor is not thorough enough to understand a patient's real condition.

I have been utilizing the services of Waldport Eye Care for several years now. I have always found…read morethem to be caring, compassionate and competent. The Drs. have always been very thorough resulting with prescriptions that are accurate and satisfying. They have a great selection of frames as well. The office staff have always been kind and they go out of their way to meet your needs in a timely fashion. The pre-exams by the staff have been quick and thorough as well. They have offices in other cities with access to more complicated issues that may arise. Totally satisfied and will continue to use them for my eye care needs.

We've had a very disappointing experience here. We live in Waldport and wanted to support local…read morebusinesses, so we chose this office. My son went in March for an eye exam for glasses and contacts. His glasses arrived within a few weeks, but we still don't have contacts. At the first appointment, they said they would order a trial set so they could teach him how to put them in and take them out. Weeks passed with no update. When I called, they said the contacts were delayed. A few days later they called again, explaining they had misunderstood and thought I wanted a full prescription, but now realized we were waiting on a trial set. They said the trials had arrived, so we scheduled an appointment--difficult, since they only do beginner contact training on Wednesdays. I rearranged my schedule and pulled my son out of school, and he was excited. We arrived early and waited outside. 9:00am came and went. By 9:30 we left. I called, but no one answered. They never opened that day, and we received no call or notice. My son still didn't have contacts. They later returned my call and apologized, so we made another appointment. At this point they already had my payment, and I just wanted to finish the process so my son could get contacts and we could plan to go to Newport for future exams. The assistant still couldn't help him get the contacts in, so she sent him home with them to practice, but he wasn't able to. We returned the next week, and the same assistant tried again. Thankfully the doctor was there and took him into an exam room, spending time teaching him. After that, he could easily put them in and take them out--but the contacts weren't the right prescription, so he couldn't see out of them. They ordered another trial pair, and we haven't heard anything since. I stopped by in June on a day they were supposed to be open, but they were closed again. I happened to see the assistant outside and asked if we could get a refund for the $75 contact appointment so we could go somewhere in Newport with better availability. She said she didn't see why not. I also left a message requesting his eyeglass prescription (covered by insurance) and the refund. Today is July 7th, and I still haven't heard back. Our original contact appointment was March 19th. Maybe we fell through the cracks--I really don't know. But my son, who was so excited about getting contacts, is now completely disheartened. The service and communication have been the worst I've ever experienced. They are rarely open, and even when they're scheduled to be, they often aren't. The staff themselves were kind, and my son especially liked the doctor, but the overall experience has been unacceptable. I have filed a complaint and request for refund with the BBB. I will continue trying to get our refund because it's the right thing for them to do, and we'll be going to a doctor in Newport moving forward.
