They had already been completed and paid for in May but there was and still is an issue with the H&R software where he was not able receiving the emails even after providing three different email addresses. I know that was the issue because I also had the same issue with my own return. and one of the agents had figured out a work around to get it to me. We worked with an agent to process our taxes online because we could not come in personally due to a disability and illness but over that time period, I had agents from other offices and even the main H&R Block customer service where they were escalating the issue and still nothing was done. In the end my son had to take some time off to go into the office on a Saturday in September to sign and pick up his copies. We had 3 different family members' federal and state taxes processed by H&R Block and it was expensive, and we will not be repeating it in 2025!
