My family has had Bruce Stewart's as our mechanic almost since they opened. It was funny as my father discovered them because my parents phone number was so similar to theirs. Before that he had tried many mechanics over many years. Trustworthy, thorough, knowledgeable, honest, good communicators, fairly priced, good estimators and most of all reliable and great work. They go the extra mile so to speak. How many businesses can one say that about consistently over 15+ years? They were first late Dad's mechanic. Later, they also became my brother's and my mom's mechanic. When I came back from Cincinnati, USA in 2003 and my car warranty ended I went to them and I of course have never have left. It is great to have a family run service for our family in this day and age. Bruce, LeAnne and their team are the best of both worlds: a mom & pop shop with the highest level of expertise and professionalism. I recommend them to all my friends and family. read more

Just to warn everyone, never go to this place The service is slow Staff is super rude They will tell you more problems than your vehicle actually have Force you to get the work done at their place. Their behaviour will change if you seems not interested to go further with them. Price of everything is high as compared to other workshops. This place is a rip off save your money please do not bother going here they screwed me 3 times and tried to squeeze 3 grand out of me lol.

The first time we came based on the excellent reviews on Yelp. We brought our van in after 3 weeks of driving in the mountains and thought we needed brake work. We loved that they said the brakes were fine. It makes a shop look really honest. We were later disappointed. We booked the truck in for an oil change and brakes and the front 2 rotors about 2 weeks out. I would think that would mean same day service, since it wasn't a last minute squeeze in, but it took 2 days. Not only that they tried to charge us for all 4 rotors, and they broke our bug deflector. When we said we weren't interested in paying for work that was done without permission, they said they weren't going to replace the broken deflector. I went from being a big fan to someone who cautions against going to this shop. read more

Tried this mechanic out on the recommendation of AMA and I could not be any happier. Repairs cost a little bit more then anticipated, however they went above and beyond fixing some other small things on my vehicle without charging me. The front staff were great and very thorough in explaining what was sever and should be repaired immediately and what could wait until later. I got my vehicle back and its like a new car. Bruce and his guys are great! Very knowledgable and honest. He will tell you the things that you should fix now and the things that can wait. Then when you get your oil changed they will monitor the things that can wait to ensure they aren't getting worse. They have loaner cars so you're not stuck without a car! read more

Another place I've been to but have never reviewed. It is always hard trying to find a good mechanic and when you find one, it's almost like finding the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. You'll save serious cash by not getting ripped off! Bruce's is great. The staff are friendly, if you refer someone you get a free oil change so the person who referred me here certainly deserves it. The prices are way more reasonable than I have found elsewhere. First time customers get a free Bruce Stewart's automotive barbeque sauce and steak seasoning. Yes, it is a little strange to get those things from a mechanics but I never turn down free stuff, even if it is garbage (but the bbq sauce and seasonings are not, I've tried them). They do have courtesy cars available if you need one but do book in advance just like any other place. They may not be gorgeous, but they are maintained and safe and that's really all you need. read more

Would not recommend using this shop, daughter went in to get a estimate on some work. After reviewing it call the shop and was told it needed 2 parts at a cost of $680 OEM parts. found out after the one part was still working but might not last to long but the other has failed. so i phoned around and found the same OEM parts for $380 quite a mark up. I feel there are untrustworthy people that run this place, and use caution, check prices on parts to make sure they are not over charging. i am also going to contact the BBB to file a complaint. I went to this shop based off of Tanya J's review seen here. Many of the things that she mentions are indeed true, but she fails to mention one of the key factors: Price. Shop around in Edmonton, especially if you are servicing an older or used vehicle. Bruce uses new OEM parts with a big mark-up added to them. I was almost charged $385.00 + Labour for a starter that only costs $240.00 at Napa if I was to buy it myself. Not to mention the labour charges are high compared to some of the smaller mom and pop shops that litter the south side of Edmonton. To get a starter replaced plus labour was quoted at $520.00 at this shop. I ended up going to A-1 Starter and Alternator and got the job done for exactly half the price. This also included a brand new key that the guy there cut for me. Previously a water-pump replacement at bruces cost me $910.00 with a coolant flush and oil-change after it was all said and done. OUCH, if i had known better (which I didn't at the time, this is my first car) I probably would have shopped around a little more. Yes they are nice, yes you get some free "Bruce-B-Q" sauce when you give them your pay check, and the work seems to be very well done. I imagine peace of mind would be attained if a relationship was made with this shop, but beware that this is going to come at a cost. If you live paycheck to paycheck like me, my only recommendation would be to research and do your homework. Most shops will be glad to give you a free quote on the work your require. The place is busy, and you might have to wait a few days to get in. I in no way doubt Tanya's "5 star experience" with this place, but there is a reason you get goodies and a car wash with your work. $$ is obviously not a problem for her. I originally went to Bruce Stewart's Auto Repair Centre based on their reputation. I then continued to go there based on experience. They have always been pleasant and professional and do quality work that has given them a well-earned reputation as a trusted auto repair shop. They recently proved to me just what kind of business they are by the way they took care of me as a customer during one of those rare times when things have not gone the way anyone expected. To me the real proof of customer care/service is "what would they do if things didn't go as planned?" Well I found out when the remanufactured engine I had installed lost oil pressure with low kilometres. Bruce Stewart towed my truck in at no cost to me. They found the engine had suffered damage, and while they may have been able to just put in a new oil pump and return the vehicle to me and hope it would be OK, they said I had paid for a new motor and that is what I should have. Not for one moment did they make me feel I would be stuck dealing with a warranty claim against the engine remanufacturer as they immediately told me they would deal with the the warranty claim and regardless of outcome they would replace the engine at no cost to me. They quickly procured a new engine and all work was done at no cost to me including fluid replacements! If you're looking for an honest, independent auto repair shop, I highly recommend Bruce Stewart's Auto Repair Centre! read more

I went to this shop by recommendation from my senior friend. I had a complex repair of suspension and couple of other minor things there (the original reason of coming was to change oil). 1. I was charged for the alignment which as far as I know should be done on their cost as I had almost $2.000 in cost work on my suspension. I know that it's variable from shop to shop, so it was up to them. They charged me 130.00. wheels torqued - 25.00. 2. I had to come a week later to replace the same part that was replaced just before. They asked me what I was doing with my car that it got wracked in a week? Nothing!!! I was only driving work/home on one street straight only!!! This time alignment for FREE! Wheels torqued - FREE. And of course, I paid for the part again and for its replacement. 3. Another time I came for an oil change and air filters change. So they did the oil change and winter check of my car, plus they lubricated all door hinges. In one month all the doors of my car started squeaking, I lubricated by myself and the doors are quiet until now (year later)! Although I got an air filter replaced where they charged me 38.00 for labor plus $30.00 for the filter (20minutes labor!!!!! - what were they doing 20 minutes replacing my air filter??????). Cabin filter $40.00 for parts and 63.00 for labor (half an hour!!!!!!!!!!). IT TOOK ME 5 MINUTES TO REPLACE BOTH FILTERS A YEAR LATER. Should I also mention that I have found a plastic bag and a filter package next to the cabin filter (behind the filter!!!), which was wrecked and that's why I was smelling all the gases from my engine for the whole year!!!? I really regret going there, as I had full mechanical inspection of my car before that, and there was no problems at all. I still don't know how they eventually made me changing so many parts! Probably because I didn't know much about cars. So if you want to be like a plucked pigeon, welcome to this shop... No wonder they don't allow anybody watching their work. NOT RECOMMENDED read more

Extremely poor customer service. The front desk old lady is very high strung and generates that "I am better than everyone" type of energy. I went there for an oil change and my oil filter was not tight enough causing my vehicle to leak oil to the point it almost overhauled. I had a local mechanic investigate and they found it was the oil filter not tight enough. So I requested that they leave it the way they found it and to just top up my oil so I could have it towed to Bruce Stewart's where I originally had the oil change done. They tried to tell me that the oil filter was defective by the manufacturer. Then proceeded to tell me that they would reimburse me once they sent it back on warranty. I am still waiting. Mr. Stewart has a nasty habit of yelling and screaming and swearing at his staff for his own automotive negligence. It is not very professional to do this in front of a customer. Defamation of your staff is extremely unprofessional and does not show that you are taking care of the issue! I would never recommend this place to ANYONE! This is probably the most crooked shop I have encountered in many years. I came here upon recommendation and even the people who recommended this place have stopped going here. I highly warn people. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE! THEY ARE CROOKS AND ARE ONLY IN IT FOR THEIR BETTER INTEREST! RUN FAR! VERY FAR! read more
