The space was clean and well maintained, and you can truly taste the authenticity in every dish. I would definitely recommend it and will absolutely be coming back. There were wooden floors and The vibe of the Place reminded me of a saloon. I ordered three pupusa's: two LaRocco and cheese and two beans and cheese. Larocco is a spinach like vegetable that is so healthy. The ingredients of all three were so fresh and flavorful! Each was grilled to perfection! The corn masa mixed with the Cortito, salsa and delicious fresh cheese, and other ingredients, made me feel for a moment that I was in absolute pupusa heaven where all is pure pupusa euphoria! The Cortito, which is a kin to our coleslaw was fresh and crunchy, and it had onions in it as well. Instead of using mayonnaise to make their coleslaw, they use vinegar, which I much prefer. To add to the pupusa Heaven was the Salvadorean styled horslchata, which was so smooth and creamy! It had the best vanilla and cinnamon flavor. My friend ordered steak tacos and steak quesadillas and the same Horchata with a Diet Coke. The total for this food was $45 and change and we both thought that was a little pricey. However, since he got steak, it was probably a little bit more expensive than chicken. At the end of the day, the food was delicious and well worth the price. They also had the World Cup playing on the television, and a few of the Patrons were enjoying it. The ambience was chill and the server was very sweet and kind. In fact, she heard me telling my friend that I hoped the salsa would be spicy even though I knew that it wouldn't be so she brought me some spicy salsa! The traditional pupusa salsa, which is tomato sauce with some added spices was very tasty and just as I expected it to be! The spicy salsa was also very good. It was a green salsa. Our server was also very attentive. We had a good day at the El Ranchito Salvadoreano.

With the owner, manager, and chef all actively involved in the restaurant, there's a real sense of pride in both the food and the customer experience. There's plenty of free parking, it's easy to get in and out, and you're welcomed into a clean, inviting dining room with bright, vibrant colors. I ordered the birria tacos, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. They come with a rich, flavorful consommé for dipping--it's like the French dip of the taco world. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone visiting. As I looked around the dining room, every dish heading to neighboring tables looked fresh, colorful, and beautifully prepared. It definitely left me wanting to come back and work my way through more of the menu. Whether you've never been before or haven't visited since the change in ownership, LA TAQUERIA deserves a stop. Based on my experience, the new team is doing an outstanding job, and I look forward to returning.

The inside was very clean and modern. They have a different special every day of the week which seemed like a great way to try everything on the menu. The star of the show was the shrimp burrito. Perfectly cooked, tender shrimp, excellently seasoned rice and beans all combined together with crema and lettuce in a grilled tortillas. There was actually quite a bit of shrimp in the burrito. And the salsas added extra depths of flavor. We also got chips and salsa. The chips were nothing to write home about, seemed to have been sitting out for a bit. The owner was nice, she brought out a free chip refill. The verde salsa and spicy salsa were homemade with good flavory and a nice smokiness. I felt the same way about the side salas that came with the burrito. It was decent, nothing special. I imagine the fries would be similar. Overall this was a great place to get some fresh hispanic seafood! The tacos also looked amazing, I would definitely recommend trying out the entrees here.

4.5 Overall - A real beach-feel taco shack, less than a block from the ocean. Outdoor seating (no…read moreindoors) and weathered wood lends authenticity to the Surf City vibe, but then one also needs to contend with the birds and heat (minus the ocean breeze). We drove here with friends from Jacksonville (NC) and experienced the food and service and, afterwards said we'd definitely return here. Why? Tacos. We ordered four - Tuna, Shrimp, Chicken, and Veggie- all on a soft corn tortilla. Each one packed a mouthful of flavor combinations that were distinct and memorable. My blackened and seared tuna took a different turn with the bacon, yet it melded well with the cabbage and the spicy mayo. My favorite - the blackened and grilled Shrimp taco - included Asian slaw and sweet chili sauce that complimented the char. Our friends ordered the seafood nachos which frankly looked liked the shrimp and other seafood were overwhelming the chips! If I had been hungrier, I would have ordered this monster! Soft drinks (Coke products), adult beverages, and "Sweet Treats" are also available. The bathrooms are inside the surf shop. Paid parking is right next to the store. This used to be our favorite, and let me tell you why it no longer is... First, and worst, the customer service. They couldn't make any exchange for the spicy salsa that comes with the kids meal, so basically I'm paying $7 for a tortilla with melted cheese. Additionally, my kid was taking our plates up the steps and fell, getting salsa all over his arm. As he sat there picking up everything, two workers walked by him and ignored him. Didn't ask if he was okay or offer to help. I guess that's what happens when you hire kids that don't care about anything. They all seemed unhappy and I encountered 5 different people and zero smiles. Secondly, the food and prices. I get that everything has gone up in price, but don't go up in price and down in quality, skimping on things that used to be free and plentiful. I just don't want to pay more for less. Lastly, we caught management in a lie and that's just not okay. You gave my husband an excuse for something and me a totally different one. Don't make up stuff to force your ridiculous policies. Bottom line, the food is pretty good, we've been here more times than I can count, but next time remember that customer service goes a long way and you could have just made right an issue that cost you pennies instead of reading this review.
