This place rocks. My wife and I went here for dinner one night. This place is in eye shot of our AirBnb and about a block walk. It's a fun, divey little taco joint that serves other things as well, but everyone seems to suggest getting the tacos or the nachos. Its recommend anyone with a decent appetite thats looking to get tacos get 3 tacos. I got the Blunt side beef taco, Method mahi (fried of course) and shuv-it shrimp taco. All were excellent. My wife got the shrimp and Mahi tacos too. We loved them. The chips were the real surprise they were some of the best tortilla chips we've had in a long time. They were seasoned in a way that reminded us of cool ranch Doritos. This place has inside and outside seating. Not a ton of inside seating. The staff was nice and very quick with getting food to us. The ambience is very quirky but fits the skater shop vibe they're going for. An absolute must eat spot if you're in Carolina Beach.

Nollie's was our favorite place we ate while visiting Carolina Beach! Starting with our drinks and The Full Monty (their assortment of salsas, queso, and guac) we were already quite happy! The skateboards on the walls & ceiling make for fun viewing from your table. After this, we each did 3 tacos. The sauce that comes on the shrimp & mahi tacos is absolutely delicious! On top of it all, service was quick & friendly! We will definitely be back on any return visits to CB!!

    Cheers!

We just discovered Nollie's Taco Joint and we are SOLD! Amazing tacos (and nachos, right hubs??? Spoiler alert- he couldn't finish them). It's rare for us to find a place we both REALLY like, plus has good beverages. And Omigosh-- Prosecco on draft!!!!! And if Jessica is running things downstairs, you'll be in good hands. Already planning what I'm ordering when we come back. Yum Yummily Yummers!

Nollies tacos are fantastic! We were so glad we checked this place out. You can basically get chicken, shrimp, asada or mahi as tacos, nachos, or a quesadilla. I opted for tacos and my husband got a quesadilla. We also shared guacamole and chips. The meal was fresh and delicious! Full bar, beer and wine options. The people there are so nice too! The staff were friendly and we met a couple regulars too. Nice older gentleman that's lived in the area for 30 years was especially kind to us. There are seats outside and a bar inside facing out. You can't quite see the beach but you feel that nice ocean breeze and people watch. There are also a few tables inside. We will definitely go back on our next visit!

Food wasn't bad but not the best I have ever had. Our friends had the asada taco and burrito and the meat was very grisly. The bathroom was very dirty and we didn't like that we had to pay for parking.

Feeling hungry, 6 friends and I went in for dinner last night visiting Carolina Beach. We ordered waters for the table as well as other drinks to which we were provided plastic water bottles and cups which I thought was peculiar but I digress. We ordered a scrumptious batch of fresh chips and queso to start, and while the tacos were also delectable, I wouldn't say they were worth the long wait. While I'm not keen on the exact timeframe, it was long enough for my beer to be warm and flat! As upsetting as this was, overall the food was pretty good but there are definitely better tacos (and Mexican food overall) in the area.

Tacos are worth a trip to Carolina Beach! Excellent tacos - had the mahi taco and shrimp tacos. Excellent! Just the right amount of spiciness. One block off ocean. Beachy, laid back vibe. Will be back.

Just wanted to follow up on my original review of Nollie's Taco Joint, happy to report it's still just as good as I remembered. We ordered the salsa sampler, jackfruit tacos, and fish tacos this time around. Everything was amazing, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The jackfruit tacos especially stood out, and the variety of salsas was a great way to kick things off. Seating is still pretty limited, which is something to keep in mind. It's a first-come, first-served setup, and we ended up grabbing seats at the bar (which actually turned out great). Drinks came out fast, which was a bonus, and the overall vibe remained relaxed and welcoming. This place continues to be a solid go-to if you're looking for great tacos and a laid-back beach-town feel. Just get there early or be ready to hover for a seat, totally it's worth it.

FANTASTIC taco joint!!! The queso is banging! The Mahi tacos are on time. The tofu taco is amazing. The jackfruit is delicious! The atmosphere is dive bar and punk. Music selection was the BEST. Great service! Shoulda taken pics earlier but this was all that was left.

Everywhere we checked had hour-plus waits, so when El Cazador quoted us 50 minutes on a busy Saturday evening, we gladly took it. We grabbed seats at the bar, cooled off in the AC (which was working overtime in the sweltering heat), and enjoyed a couple of drinks while we waited. A cold Pacifico with lime definitely hit the spot. By the time our party of seven was finally seated, we'd already made a dent in the chips and salsa. Thankfully, the food didn't disappoint. Portions were generous, prices were very reasonable for a beach town, and everything came out fresh and flavorful. The biggest surprise was spotting lengua on the taco menu. That's not something you see everywhere, so of course I had to order it. The tongue was incredibly tender and well-cooked. My only suggestion would be to offer a salsa verde or salsa roja with the tacos--they deserve something with a little extra kick to bring all the flavors together. Overall, great food, fair prices, and a solid option when the rest of Carolina Beach is packed. I'd happily come back, especially for those lengua tacos.

"Delicious dive on Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach"…read more Came here for lunch on a Sunday at right around noon. The place is dark and kind-of makes you feel like you're in the bowels of a wooden ship. There's a large bar in the center, and a few tables around it, as well as a few tables outside in the back. We were seated right away. I ordered the hot honey shrimp wrap as well as the pickled veggies appetizer. My dining partner got the quinoa grain and greens bowl with blackened tuna. Our food came out in around 10 minutes. The hot honey shrimp wrap came with french fries, to my surprise (didn't see that mentioned on the menu), which were fine. The wrap itself was DELICIOUS. MAN, that hot honey was SO tasty, and the greens and corn batter on the shrimp really complemented it well. It is a very, very messy dish to eat with your hands, so be prepared, but it's well worth the sacrifice. The pickled veggies were local and very tasty-- also a very good value for $5. My dining partner really liked her bowl and the tuna in it as well. The staff were quite attentive, regularly checking in, filling drinks, and clearing dirty plates. Only caution is that a lot of the batters are corn-based, so be careful if you have that allergy. Overall, would very happily come back-- great in all respects. I recommend highly!

If you're looking for one of those places where everything just lines up--the weather, the food,…read morethe mood--this is it. Out on the pier at Tiki Bar & Ocean Grill, you've got a front-row seat to the Atlantic, and on a day like today, it doesn't get much better. Blue sky, sun hitting the water just right, and a breeze that reminds you why people have been coming to the coast long before fancy resorts showed up. Food Simple answer: they've got it dialed in. Fresh, well-prepared, and exactly what you want at the beach. No overthinking it--just good coastal food done right. That's how it's supposed to be. Service Friendly, easygoing, and attentive without hovering. The kind of service that makes you feel welcome but doesn't interrupt your view--or your drink. Atmosphere This is where they really win. Sitting out over the water with string lights overhead and waves rolling in? That's hard to beat anywhere. Now, yes--the beach itself has those big metal pipes running through for replenishment. Not exactly postcard material. But here's the truth: once you're up on that pier, looking out over the ocean, it barely matters. The view still does what it's supposed to do--makes you slow down and stay a while. Final Take Great food, solid service, and a view that carries the whole experience. Even with the beach work going on, this place delivers what a coastal spot should: good eats, cold drinks, and a reason to sit a little longer than you planned. If the weather's right, don't overthink it--grab a seat, order something simple, and enjoy it the way folks have been doing for generations.

Unfortunately, I feel the food quality has gone downhill while the prices have gone in the opposite direction. The food and drinks are expensive, and based on my experience today, the quality simply doesn't match the price. At this point, I don't feel it's worth what you're paying. The service was also disappointing. Our waitress seemed much more interested in being engaged with her phone than in providing good service or creating a positive experience for her customers. I found her attitude to be somewhat rude and inattentive, which only added to an already disappointing visit. It's unfortunate because I've enjoyed coming here for years, and I really like the location and atmosphere. However, I think I'll be putting my visits on hold for a while. Hopefully, the food quality, service, and pricing will eventually come back into better balance with what customers are actually getting. I'd like to see this place get back to the experience I remember and enjoyed for so many years.
