This dental office's actions demonstrate a deeply concerning pattern of potential discrimination…read moreand/or questionable billing practices, and I believe it warrants a serious review. I scheduled a tooth extraction and explicitly stated I would be paying cash, out-of-pocket. My appointment was confirmed. However, within 15 minutes, it was abruptly canceled, citing vague 'insurance issues' after they looked up my information and discovered I was on Medicaid. This explanation is not only contradictory but also raises serious questions about this office's willingness to serve Medicaid recipients, even when offered cash payment. The fact that they cited 'insurance issues' after seeing my Medicaid status directly contradicts any potential internal policy against cash payments. Instead, it strongly suggests a reluctance to treat Medicaid patients. This is unacceptable. The dismissive response to a review, 'I'm sorry you didn't get your way,' further underscores the lack of professionalism and respect shown to patients. Due to the systemic issues with dental access in this area, exemplified by this office's practices, I was forced to perform a self-extraction. While I was able to manage the extraction myself, this situation highlights the severe lack of accessible dental care for Medicaid recipients in this area. It's unacceptable that patients are forced to resort to such measures due to systemic barriers. I strongly advise anyone seeking dental care to avoid this practice. Their actions suggest a clear bias and a lack of transparency that is unacceptable in a healthcare provider.

Four years ago or more I was a patient of Dr. Wintersteen. Due to moving almost an hour away, I…read morechose a local dentist in my new area. Went to the new dentist recently as my crown fell off. New dentist stated my crown had cracked and I needed a re-treatment of a root canal Dr. Wintersteen had done a little over six years ago. In addition, I needed to see a specialist for re-treatment. I was so upset with the news as it was going to cost me almost 1K out of pocket to treat said tooth. I really felt this diagnosis wasn't correct. So I traveled back to Dr. Wintersteen for a second opinion. Not only did I NOT need a re-treatment, I just needed a new crown. (Due to local dentist advising me to throw away old crown). Truthfully, the crown probably didn't need replaced. In short, Dr. Wintersteen is an outstanding doctor. He's a straight shooter and has never advised dental work that didn't need to be done. I was, due to false diagnosis, ready to have my tooth pulled from Dr. Wintersteen. Dr. Wintersteen saved the day! In my opinion, it's best to stay with a dentist/doctor that will not bamboozle insurance or my pocket book. Dr. Wintersteen and supporting staff.... THANK YOU!!!!! Until he retires, I'll be a patient again. It's definitely worth the travel!

This is a very dishonest dental clinic. They charged over $500 to extract a single tooth and…read morerequired patients to pay upfront before seeking reimbursement from their insurance. Patients have no idea about their pricing beforehand and end up paying out of pocket without understanding the cost. I paid $533 for a tooth extraction, but my insurance only reimbursed $119 because the clinic's fees are much higher than what the insurance company is willing to cover. At other dental clinics, you only need to pay less than $200 out of pocket, and $179 of that is a once-a-year fee that won't be charged again for your next visit. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this greedy clinic.

AVOID THIS SCAM, graduate students! I was looking for a new dentist and spoke with their…read morereceptionist, who assured me that they take graduate students' Delta Dental and have plenty of grad student patients. She warned me that they require payment upfront and then submit the bill to Delta Dental for reimbursement. When I arrived for my appointment, I confirmed this information again with the front desk and my hygienist. A simple check-up with no problems or peculiarities cost me $300!! Delta Dental couldn't cover more than half because of Anderson's exorbitant rate! A Delta Dental representative told me she'd never seen anyone charge so much. It took five weeks of back and forth with a rude Anderson Dental administrative worker, who kept interrupting me, telling me to stop talking, and spouting nonsense about the importance of communication and recognizing that these processes take time (FIVE WEEKS!? Just admit that you forgot or were trying to wait me out) to receive payment from Anderson Dental after they'd acknowledge that they had misled me. These people are scammers and their workers should be embarrassed that they stoop to trying to steal from graduate students. Never going back.

I deeply regret my experience with Dr Standley and wish I had sought a second opinion before…read moreproceeding with treatment. After moving, I saw this dentist for a checkup and was told I needed seven fillings, even though my previous dentist had only recommended monitoring those areas. Trusting their judgment, I went ahead with the work. After the fillings were placed, I experienced persistent dental pain. It hurt to bite down, floss, and even eat moderately cool foods --something as simple as room-temperature toothpaste became painful. I returned multiple times hoping for relief, but only minor adjustments, such as polishing, were made, and the discomfort never fully went away. Years later, I finally decided to switch dentists after living with ongoing pain. My new dentist noted that one of the most painful fillings might not be possible to fix due to its size and that another had a shadow near the nerve, meaning I may now need a root canal ("Doesn't it hurt?" my new dentist asked, surprised. "The other ones hurt more" I replied). I can't help but wonder if some of these fillings were unnecessary in the first place. I wish I had questioned the extent of the treatment before agreeing to it, as I am now dealing with chronic dental pain and uncertainty about my health. I may never be able to enjoy food without pain again, and I'm deeply worried about what my future holds in terms of dental work and discomfort. I'm sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions about their own dental care and hopefully avoid what I'm going through. The other 1 star review here mirrors my experience exactly, down to the flippant attitude regarding botched fillings. I wish I had seen it before.
