We stopped here to gas up and for a bathroom break. I was excited because I love these kinds of stores. We browsed around a little bit and nothing really stood out to buy. Nothing unique as country stores tend to have. They did have a gigantic cured ham but I wasn't in the market for a ham. The clerk who assisted us was not the friendliest , but I know how to crack through these types of personalities. She ended up actually being ok. The inside of the store was orderly. Just wished it offered more. We had no issues at the pump. And was real close to the main highway, so we jumped right back on the highway to get to Lynchburg before nightfall. read more

Yes it's clean. But the food is terrible. My husband had a tuna salad sandwich and said if he were blindfolded he'd have called it liverwurst. I had the fried chicken, fry and flavorless. Good thing I got ranch for my dogs tender, which was nothing more than a longer nugget. Good thing she's small. The green beans were too sweet for just beans, obviously sugar added. The cobbler had a chemical taste even my dog wouldn't eat. So the only good thing is right off the freeway, grass for the dog and electrify America for car charging. read more

Wow! Can't believe I've been driving up and down I81 and never stopped here! When your gas tank and belly are empty and your bladder is full this is the place for you. What a cute place, clean, great food items and the Southern charm will knock your socks off. Definitely recommend. read more

Was really happy with the double cheeseburger! Good home made quality piled super high. Much better than you get most places. And a good deal, too! There are some small tables and a ton of fountain drink options. The rest of the menu is stuff like chicken, hot dogs, biscuits and so forth. The building itself is really cool and the staff are professional and friendly. Overall, this place has its act together. It's the best option you're going to find in the immediate area. read more

I've visited this adorable country store located right off Highway 81 near Troutville, Virginia many times. They have CLEAN gas pumps (believe it or not), and a terrific gift area, as well as the usual food, groceries and beverages. I've bought gifts for friends here for years thanks to the excellent variety of items procured by the owner. She always has some lovely serving pieces, placemats, napkins, cards, garden flags, and now, vintage kitchen, glassware, and gift pieces she's selected from antique stores. They have both seating indoors and on the porch. There's room to walk your dog and a special receptacle for poo bags. It's a place well worth stopping for. read more

My husband and I made this a regular stop on our way up north from FL. We make the trip frequently and always loved to make this our stop to get gas, food and shop. Well today no more sadly we won't be back! The staff was so rude to me! I guess they don't want to make any money! As a diabetic I just asked for chicken salad without bread, seeing my blood sugar was high. The lady said NO she would not sell it to me like that. I said I was saving them the bread. Still NO! We have bought over the years so much stuff in the cute gift shop and supported their little store. Then a lady came in behind us order chicken salad on white bread no problem for her. I said that was a special order, still they would not sell it to me and they were rude about it! I was not asking for a special fancy salad just the same amount they would put on the bread. Well we will never be back! I guess it was ok my husband got an egg salad sandwich and said it was not good anyway. Now we will spend our money at a place that wants to sell to customers and treats them with respect. read more

I like this gas station - it's been my go-to in the Troutville area off I-81 for a long long time. The outdoor porch area seating is nice - it's got a rustic barn-type look to the outside - plenty of gas pumps and parking - and some really good deviled eggs. They have a place there you can put air in your tires for $1. Clean and nice. I know it's not the best review but it's a gas station - so I don't really know what I should say. read more

After driving hours and hours, finding a place like this that had very good, warm ready-to-go home cooked style food was amazing. The fried chicken was excellent in and of itself, but along with the green beans and apple cobbler that came with it, it was perfect! I also had a few meatballs and a piece of pie. I find the reviews of this store to be contrary to what I experienced. There was very little choice in the sandwiches or food offered for sale. The person who waited on me was unhelpful and very rude. The prices were what I would expect in any convenience store. I did not see anything exceptional that was offered for sale. I did not buy any ice cream, but that appeared to be the only item other customers were buying. I stopped to recharge my EV. I know that the chargers belong to Electrify America (EA), but they are on the property. Three of the four charging stations would not work. The fourth declined my phone charge even though I had plenty of credit on my account to charge my car. I had to call EA to get the charger started. I usually charge my car at a fast DC charger at EA in about 18 minutes, from 20 % to 80%. This charger took 35 minutes to go from 20% to 70%. I will have to look for other routes back to Charlottsville that have better chargers and more appealing and friendly snack bars. read more

I always make sure I have a full tank of gas when leaving South Central PA headed south, so that I can make it to Brugh's for gas, a nice clean bathroom & food. This is a great store! The food was amazing, varying from fried chicken to BBQ sandwiches to Hershey's icecream. The staff is polite, and very helpful if you need directions. We stop in on our way to my parent's house, and my kids love stopping by. Each time, we let them pick out a gift from the gift shop. They also have cute products adults, too. The gas is Exxon, and the store is very clean! read more
