The ice cream? It's fine, tasty and served in giant portions. (We've shared a "small" between two adults.) But the service brings it down to two stars. The servers are friendly enough but holy smokes it should not take 30 minutes to get ice cream. Things were slow even before COVID-19, but I tried to go a couple days ago and the line was spilling out into the parking lot. And it didn't move at all! I gave it 10 minutes and then gave up. I'll be heading to Rita's or Sweet Nel's for my ice cream fix. read more

Just an update to my September 16th review. My purchase was a half gallon of White Turtle. It was mostly vanilla ice cream and little else. They had raised the price to $20. Today I saw that Bruster's in Aston also had White Turtle so I bought a half gallon for comparison. The price was still $15.49, which is what Glen Mills used to be. It had at least four times the nuts, etc. Much better ice cream, same brand, and so much less money. If you're a Glen Mills customer, give Aston a try. You will be surprised. I've purchased ice cream many times from many Bruster locations around Philly. This is the first somewhat negative review I've done. The quality of the ice cream at this location was good. But, they used a poor customer service practice and would not fix it. I ordered several half gallons (I thought they were half gallons) on line, but when I arrived to pick the up, I was told that I only ordered quarts. When I pulled up the web site, I saw that this location did not even offer half gallons - every other Bruster location including this Glen Mills location offers half gallons. I asked about this and was told that "they didn't have enough half gallon containers, so they pulled it from the menu". I asked for duplicate quarts to equal half gallons in the flavors I purchased, but was charged for all quarts at the quart price. This struck me as manipulating to get a higher price. The amount of ice cream was still two half gallons - but the price was much higher for the 4 quarts. I asked for the half gallon price, but was told "there is no way we can charge that on the computer". Bad customer service. read more

Snickerdoodle ice cream in a fresh, homemade waffle cone. The ice cream here is really nice. Creamy, fresh, smooth. Classic and more unique flavors are available. The snickerdoodle ice cream was I think a smooth vanilla with a crunchy cinnamon-sugar swirl, and they did not skimp. Service was patient and friendly, though I can confirm they are a little slow - but we were in no rush on a cool October Sunday. No where to sit. Couple things. For one icecream is ok, not amazing but good and since this is like the only icecream place in the area it can do the job. That being said....I think this place could do like vegan flavors..like the van leeuwans of delco. So star away because for a good flavor I gotta do a dairy based icecream even though I prefer not to. Came back gave me 10 and some change. I did NOT have the energy to fight this especially because there was a lot of people but like yea that seems odd right. SMH. Staff needs to be more attentive and know how to do transactions. Bruster's is always a great stop to grab some delicious home-made fresh ice cream! Their ingredients are primo and their options are endless. They'll let you sample just about any flavor on the menu and the staff is really knowledgeable about what's in the ice creams available. One time when I came home from college, I requested a certain ice cream about a week in advance and they were able to have it ready when I got home. The staff is always young and outgoing. I'm a big ice cream fan, living pretty close to Handel's Homemade Ice Cream in Berwyn. That's the place all other ice cream shoppes measure up to for me. Bruster's is very good! I've tried many flavors, and gotten a waffle cone to go. I really liked that they will mix two flavors in a pint for you, and perfectly put the flavors side by side in the pint. Some of their flavors didn't come close to being as good as versions I've had other places. Their Graham Central Station doesn't even come close to Handel's. My friends and I looked at the menu online and were excited about all the flavors we saw so we decided to try it out. We got there and the line was long, which to me is a good sign, but when we got to the window we were disappointed. We only saw a small fraction of the flavors that were listed online. We are always interested in trying good ice cream. When we were in the area we stopped by this place. We have been here twice now, and I think the ice cream is really quite good. In fact I had a turtle Sunday during this visit and it was one of the most delicious turtle sundaes I have had in the greater Philadelphia area.
