What a charming ice cream spot! I was in town for my best friend's birthday (@ReservationforAmanda) and she is a HUGE ice cream fan. She had this spot on her list for a while so we were all excited to try it. First of all I love how you can see cows when you pull into the parking lot. It adds to the charm. There is plenty of parking available in their lot, so it's not hard to get a spot. Thankfully when we went there wasn't a line out the door (this may have been because it was raining). It seems like usually there is a long line. They have A LOT of ice creams to pick from. They even offer ice cream sandwiches and other dairy goodies. The stone facade and picnic benches around this spot add to its charm. I got a very yummy scoop of cookies and cream. My best friend got a chocolate scoop that she really liked. I am ruined. I found the best ice cream in the world, but it's in the middle of nowhere, Delaware, and I live across the country. This ice cream is phenomenal! The menu has a huge offering of flavors. I tried the chocolate chip peanut butter jelly swirl, chocolate chip cookie dough, and black raspberry chip. All were delicious. I especially loved the chocolate chip peanut butter jelly swirl, since that was such an unusual and unique flavor. You pay by the ounce which is nice, so you can order various quantities of the different flavors. The line was long and stretched outside the building, but so worth the wait. The building itself could only hold a handful of those ordering. They also sold cones and pints to-go. read more

Best ice cream, period. Lines are long but the staff is awesome. They get the orders right and get it done quickly. If there's an issue (ex: they run out of something), they'll let you know and offer a substitution. I ordinarily don't think milk shakes are worth $10 but it's 100% worth it. I think we ordered the pumpkin spice milkshake and I'm usually not a fan of the flavor but it was phenomenal here. The pumpkin spice was subdued a bit and you can really taste the creaminess of the milkshake. One of the best milkshakes I've had. In terms of ice cream, we had motor oil, birthday cake, coconut, and other flavors but they were all so worth the drive and the price. Will 100% drive 1 hour just to get ice cream and milkshakes. read more

Woodside farm creamery was a wonderful experience that exuded full positive summer vibes. The farm atmosphere with families lined up to the fence really proves that it's a fan favorite of the local area. The ice cream scoopers were incredibly friendly, even though they were operating with a line never shorter than 100 people! I got the coconut, motor oil, and peach ice cream! I cannot believe the ingredients in this ice cream. We purchased a pint of strawberry ice cream. The ingredients should include strawberries, sugar, cream, and milk. THAT'S IT. This place has been on my radar for YEARS after having been brought up numerous times as an essential place to hit in Hockessin. I've been hearing all about this ice cream but every time we visit my GF's family in the area, something gets in the way of visiting this place. Finally, a weekend visit in July left us with a golden opportunity. We popped over after lunch with most of the family. I am told the line can be much longer but we were fortunate to only have a minimal wait, most of which was spent trying to figure on what on god's green earth dirt and motor oil ice cream flavors could be. When we finally stepped up to the plate, I found out that dirt is chocolate ice cream with gummy worms and Oreo pieces and that motor oil is coffee ice cream with caramel swirl maybe? I can't explain what came over me in the moment but I was feeling the cotton candy flavor and ordered that in a sugar cone. If it isn't evident so far in my review, they have a gazillion different flavors of ice cream with some really interesting ones mentioned above. I also noticed a BBQ something flavor which isn't particularly appetizing to me but definitely got my attention. Ultimately, the cotton candy was delicious and not too sweet, an all around nice treat. This is delicious ice cream! There is always a line out the door to prove it! Farm fresh and amazing! They sometimes have time-bound flavors (my all time favorite was almond joy - wish they'd bring it back as a regular flavor). They also have some seasonal flavors (like ginger snap in the fall). My daughter has been talking about this place for awhile. RJ passed it on his way home from somewhere and stopped for some treats. He bought peanut butter and chocolate for himself and salted caramel for me. It is so rich and delectable that you would swear you are eating actual salted caramel and not just ice cream that tastes like salted caramel. This was one of the best I've had. In the summer, I'm always excited to go on an adventure for new ice cream. Okay honestly I'm up for new ice cream anytime but we were walking around Kenny Square and decided to go find some ice cream. We found a local magazine that included local things to do. Woodside was in there and wasn't too far away. We decided to go and check it out. We have a creamery very close to our house so we grew up on farm fresh ice cream. We pulled up to an older barn and stone building. Although it looked old, it was preserved beautifully. There was plenty of outside seating and even some people playing their musical instruments. We walked inside the very tiny ice cream shop and were greeted with friendly cheers. Besides ice cream pints and quarts, you can buy fresh eggs. You can also get ice cream cakes. I sampled the chocolate peanut butter and it was divine. They also have a generous sampling spoonful. I ordered that in a waffle cone but while I was waiting for my cone, I noticed the ice cream sandwiches in the case and quickly changed my mind. Others in my party got the salted caramel and the cherry vanilla. Everyone loved their ice cream. It was so inexpensive too! My ice cream sandwich was gigantic and on two chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream in the middle. I could barely finish it, it was that big! I tried the salted caramel and it was delicious. Overall, we loved the ice cream here and would definitely recommend it. As others have said, it's cash only but they have an atm machine inside. read more

Went on a Saturday. The line was ridiculously long. Waited 55 minutes in line. There is no music outside while waiting and the only restroom available is a porta potty. With a line that long, they can do better than a porta potty. There are picnic tables in the open area. Their instagram shows people petting the cows, but thats misleading. Although you can see the cows at a distance, you cannot pet them. Ice cream was ok - not worth waiting 55mins for though. read more

Some of the best ice cream I've ever had! One thing that I love about the northeast is its rich ice cream scoops. I was passing through the area & figured I should do something in Delaware, as I don't think I'd every been to the state before. This place stood out on the Yelp map, not just as open, but well received by those who have come here before. The gravel parking lot & greenery surrounding the places really gave some strong upstate Northeast vibes. I walked in and it smelled delicious! The staff was very friendly & walked me through all the flavors. As soon as I starting sampling, I was greeted by some amazing, strong flavors & a creamy texture that's hard not to fall in love with. I decided on getting the Chocolate Thunder & Black Raspberry, & both were amazing! The large scoops were thick, rich, & almost chewy with clear & clean flavors. The Chocolate Thunder was a decadent chocolate flavor that tasted like a concentrated brownie in ice cream form, it was amazing. The Black Raspberry was sweet & full of berry flavor, a great complement to the deep chocolatey-ness of the previous scoop (as recommended by the staff). A must have if you're stopping by the area, if I'm every within a 30 mile radius of this place again I'm 100% coming back, it was that good read more

I bought some of the tubs that were available in order to bring it back with me to PA. The one thing you should be aware of is that it's a cash-only place with a small ATM machine available. I'm not sure what to say. Other than this is the best ice cream ever. This is the real deal. This is a farm who makes their own milk and makes their own ice cream. Very creamy and not sugary. It is also a social experience. They have kids running all their farm, playing, laughing, looking at the animals.
