We ended up getting my daughter's birthday cake from here after I inquired on a Facebook group about wanting to get a grinch cake. Everyone said the cake was delicious and the design was perfect. I was on a dairy free diet at the time so I didn't get to try the cake but my husband picked me up some of their dairy free ice cream and it tasted like the real thing. Love trying local ice cream shops and Just Homemade is as local as it gets. Fresh hand made ice cream like the name suggests. We came Thursday night and beat the crowd before it got busy, but the line moves fast. Lots of unique flavors as well as the traditional ones. We got the double scoop in a cup with brownie cake batter and cookies and cream. For $5 the quantity is great. Inside gives a very old school ambiance. There's seating both inside and outside. I have been here multiple times and I am yet to have a bad experience (tonight included). The staff is always great - attentive, patient, and friendly. Though every unique flavor isn't always my cup of tea, but being able to sample them first is awesome - and most are pretty great. They are also open fairly late, which is nice for a PM sweet tooth. Wow, I am simply blown away by their icecream. By far the best one in DELCO!! It's so creamy without being eggy, right balance of sweet and flavors! It was our first time here and we tried coffee toffee, fig honey and walnut and cookies and cream. Will surely be back to try more flavors! And the owners are very nice and warm people. I am dogsitting in Aston and had to have La Spada's for dinner. I wanted a milkshake and was happy to find this place 2 doors down in the same strip mall. It's a cute little shop with lots of throwback artwork from the 60's and 70's. They have a few tables but everything was takeout while I was there. They have about 20 varieties of their homemade ice cream with the flavors listed on a large board behind the counter, as well as on the display case with the tubs of ice cream. It was staffed by high school girls the 2 times I was there, but no complaints, they were personable and efficient. They will give you a little sample if you want to try something, I had a few before I went with a chocolate shake with a scoop of strawberry. It was quite tasty and went well with my cheesesteak from La Spada's. They also make ice cream cakes and have some on display and plenty of sundae options as well. Give it a shot if you are nearby, nice to support a small business making their own ice cream. read more

First time visiting, and wow, what a treat! The workers were all super friendly, the decor had a great 1950's feel to it, and the homemade ice cream was amazing. I ordered a single scoop of Rice Krispie treat ice cream (they encouraged us to ask for a taste of anything first), and this flavor did not disappoint! We also ordered a double scoop of mint chocolate chip (crazy great green color!) and a mint chocolate chip milkshake. We paid less than $15 for all three and the portions were very good. I pass three other perfectly fine ice cream parlors on the way to Just Homemade. That should be a measurement for how good a place is. Just Homemade has a variety of creative homemade flavors, which they'll serve to you in a cup, cone, sundae or milkshake. There can be a wait sometimes, but it's worth it. Just Homemade Ice-Cream - Aston, PA - I am ALWAYS on the prowl for a fun ice-cream place and this did not disappoint. We got the coffee-toffee in a salty pretzel cone, superman (the blue stuff) and banana with a sprinkle and chocolate covered cone - very delicious. Everything is churned on the premises and they were playing all kinds of fun music like classic rock, Saturday Night Fever and songs from the 50s and 60s. It's a small place but enough chairs that you can eat inside. For me a fun atmosphere elevates the celebratory nature of going out just to get ice-cream. I don't want to have to eat my ice-cream in a parking lot - that just ruins it. If you a pretzel lover then stop what you are doing now and get some ice-cream with the pretzel cone - the saltiness and cruchiness of the cone really elevates the sweet and creaminess of the flavor - quite a singular experience. It's a bit of a drive from us... wish it was much closer but worth the schlep! Don't let the drab strip mall location frighten you. 5 stars because the ice cream is perfectly homemade. Yes, it is staffed by teenagers so you just have to accept that. This isn't the Ritz folks :-) Considering the ice cream is homemade I am amazed at the variety offered. I've tried cones, sundaes, quarts to take home and the BF got an amazing Blueberry shake and talked about it all night. We stopped here tonight after a play at the local school and what a disappointment. We arrived around 9:15 and the place wasn't very welcoming. All of the chairs were stacked on the tables, they didn't close until 10:00pm. I guess that was our sign we had to take it to go. We waited in line behind 3 people. I could hear the young girl complaining about customers still coming in. Again, they didn't close for another 45 minutes. The girl kept complaining again, she was loud enough for me and other customers to hear her. Meanwhile she was on her phone the entire time texting someone. I ordered the cookies and cream and my wife got the Irish potato. The Irish potato in a cup was amazing! Full of coconut and tasted just like it. I ordered a cone and I asked the older women if it's any good. She tells me she has a bad cold, and hasn't tried it as she's holding my cone. Needless to say we paid and left, my cone went right in the trash. We will not return and it's a shame because the ice cream is pretty good. Customer service is terrible.. read more

We decided to come here as It was one of the few places open late and in the middle of winter. When we walked in we were greeted by a very nice man who began offering us samples of the seasonal flavors, Apple pie, and candy cane. I was intrigued by a flavor labeled, "tea berry" which is apparently based off of tea berry fun which is made in the Appalachian mountains, he said that it's more of an acquired taste, but I enjoyed it a lot! Ok...so I really wanted to LOVE this place. Aston is filled with chain ice cream and water ice places so the fact that Just Ice Cream makes all their ice cream homemade and they are independent, I was freaking excited to go here. Especially because in all the years I've lived in the area, I've driven past this as it gets lost in the strip mall ( because Pennell Road doesn't lack strip malls!) So my dad and I went there for a after dinner treat and when we walked in, two bored girls behind the counter just barely acknowledged us. When I looked in the ice cream cooler, none of the tubs were labeled. So after asking the girl about 4 different flavors, I just took the peanut butter she mentioned because I didn't want to keep asking, Dad got chocolate chip. Only after we paid and sat down, I noticed they list the flavors of the day on the back wall. That doesn't help at all when there are 15 some flavors and you can't tell what they are. Also doesn't help that the girl at the counter never once told us where the flavors were listed. My peanut butter was blah but then again I'm not a super fan of peanut butter ice cream, I wish I would have known about the irish potato flavor before I paid. My dad though Bryers makes a better chocolate chip. I want to go here again in the future, try a different flavor and hopefully become a fan. read more

Had a bad experience here about a year ago. Came in well before closing to see all the chairs stacked up and a teenage/young girl working the register who looked completely uninterested. We were reminded that the place has a $15 (or close to that, can't remember) card minimum, which in my opinion is a bit ridiculous, this isn't the shore, all restaurants should at least offer to take cards. When you first walk in it seems like a quaint classic ice cream parlor but the two times that we have gone there are two female employees who basically stand behind the counter and are interested in any interaction with customers.
