I recently cleaned out my closets and got rid of a lot of clothes, shoes, extra sheets and…read moreblankets, and old textbooks from previous degrees. By the time I finished, I had a large pile of trash bags that needed to be hauled away. I went on Yelp to get a few quotes. I decided to go with Martin Hauling Demolition and Cleaning Up because his estimate was reasonable. After I received the quote, I realized I forgot to mention that I had stairs, so I updated him. He increased the price by $100. I understood the price increase and luckily, he was available the same day and arrived within a couple of hours. However, when he arrived, he increased the price by another $100. Sweet Jesus! I was ready to cancel, but I really wanted everything gone, so I reluctantly agreed. He said it was a lot but I took pictures and attached them when I asked for a quote. So he knew how much prior to his arrival. On the other hand, he was able to park his truck directly below my balcony and ended up tossing everything over the balcony into the truck. After all, he never had to carry anything down the stairs so I didn't feel the additional increase was justified. The job itself was completed in less than an hour, and I told him I wasn't comfortable with the final price. To his credit, he asked what I thought was fair, and we agreed on a lower amount. Even so, I still paid more than I expected and more than his original quote. I would give 5 stars for being available the same day, arriving quickly, and getting the job done. I would give 1 star for the pricing experience and the unexpected increases. Because of that, I wouldn't use or recommend Martin Hauling Demolition and Cleaning Up.
