Dr. Rances is an expert at what he does. I have yet to leave his offices feeling less than heard and much better than when I went in. He does the majority of his services onsite, so if you need an epidural it can be done quickly and with minimal fuss. Friendly staff and handy communication methods like text messaging that drop into real people so you can get a real response, make the new office a pleasure to go to. I'm the worst kind of patient. I have a little knowledge and push for things. This can be problematic for the doctor as I often come in knowing what I want. While Dr. Rances does not always give me what I want (because what I want is the wrong thing) he does always do what is needed to make me feel better. Take any of your pain issues to him and he will find a way through. He will get you moving to the best of your ability. Just put the work in and you'll get much better, very quickly.

My hubby had to fix a few instances between us bumping heads, but he takes responsibility that you are his patient. He does not do any modern testing at his office nor suggests it unless you ask and he will write a script. In his own words he "works for God". He certainly does. He will help anyone with pain as long as you prove there is a reason to. Honestly, I love him. At first, it was difficult because I'm very aggressive, but I learned his nature and how to work with him. Today, I tell him everything. I can cry, be sincere, laugh or debate. He's genuinely sent from above and I'm very fortunate I met him. Be calm and honest. May take a few attempts to get him to listen fully, but he is not about money. Many prescribe to make money including very invasive surgeries like an opioid pump. He will NOT do that. He will keep you alive and do his best to save your other organs such as your liver while trying to treat your pain. Be patient with him and you will thank above for him being in your life. I…read morerecently saw him again and he prescribed Losartan as a better drug to keep my high blood pressure under control. 3 weeks after starting the medication, I got severe migraines and I was told that it's not related to the Losartan. A neurologist prescribed steroids and we got the migraines under control. Then Dr Fard double the dose of the Losartan and 3 weeks later, I got a full panic anxiety attack where I couldn't eat or sleep and stand still with depression and even thought of harming myself. When I called him to report that, his response was that it has nothing to do with Losartan and I should just keep taking it and he hung up on me. I consulted with other health proffesionals and it was determined that the attack was caused by Losartan even though it usually has the least side effect for most people. Those side effects won't be reported to the FDA because they are only required to report side effects if there is hospitalization or death. I told Dr Fard how disappointed in him I was and that I would never go back to him.

Dr. Tichenor was the only doctor that I had seen over the course of a very frustrating year to properly diagnose the cause of my sinusitis. His level of care and knowledge are unparalleled. Each appointment I can expect to spend a few hours in his office getting a full workup and evaluation. Furthermore, any procedure or testing needed was able to be performed right in his office. Though I have recently moved quite far away, I am still in contact with his office for flare ups and medication management, they have been phenomenal and I am so lucky to have found this practice.

I've experienced years' of chronic sinus problems. I had two previous surgeries (deviated septum…read moreand full endoscopic sinus surgery). I'd seen doctors in WV, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, and Baltimore before finding Dr Tichenor. I had a serious complication in surgery at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore - a cerebral sinal fluid leak in the brain. I've been miserable ever since. All of the doctors I'd seen before Dr. Tichenor performed the same cookie-cutter procedures (i.e. doing what insurance companies would pay for). All had 15-minute visits; none properly diagnosed a long standing hospital acquired infection. Dr Tichenor was the ONLY doctor of the dozen I've seen who properly diagosed the infection -- taking samples of the infection from deep in my ethmoid sinus and sending them to Quest Lab for identification of the bacteria and sensitivity testing to see what would kill the particular pathogens. He also ran separate tests for fungal infection. All other doctors simply handed out 2-week prescriptions for the latest "wide spectrum" antibiotic. Dr. Tichenor refuses to hand out antibiotics without confirmation of the underlying infection / effectiveness of the antibiotic to kill it. Dr. Tichenor explained that the particular hospital acquired infection I had would take at least 3 months to treat; and that all the previous 2-week stints I had on antibiotics only made the infection I had stronger by not killing it. Dr Tichenor also spent LOTS of time with me, 3 to 4 hours per visit, reviewing every page of the large stack of medical records I brought with me - even showing me how some of the doctors wrote their records to avoid a lawsuit from me. He offered suggestions for other health problems that affected my sinus health (namely, GERD acid reflux). Its been several years' since I've visited Dr Tichenor (live too far away); I've since learned that his procedure for testing / identifying infections used to be standard process in America --- until the HMOs said it was "too expensive" and doctors went on to pass out antibiotics like they were Halloween treats. Dr. Tichenor is the ONLY doctor I've seen who properly diagnoses infections with testing. His site is also very educational (http://www.sinuses.com); he is heavily involved with and cares about research. Everyone else I've seen seem to care more about getting all they can out of the HMOs. Office manager placed blame on another employee. no opinon of doc. 10-30-15 today the office contacted me to see why I had not shown up for my scheduled appointment?! and did I need to reschedule (and probably to try and bill insurance for a missed appointment?) again this person blamed whoever was on duty and the insurance co..... i would gladly change this review to one more positive if their office would apologize and help me find another doctor.
