Super efficient and the drivers all have great attitudes. Loved the canned speeches and the friendly tips.

It's also quite large, perfect for the hordes of guests during the busy season. The layout is literally perfect. As you enter, you see the washrooms marked to your left. It's perfectly out of the way if people have to queue, and doesn't disrupt the flow of the other parts of the building. Straight ahead is the NPS ranger desk, which has excellent sight lines from the entrance. You're not going to be confused where to ask for help! The rangers were super helpful with my night sky viewing questions. There is a large gift shop to the right, and then to the left are the exhibits. The gift shop has an extended selection of things to buy, probably due to its large size. It has the usual offerings of NPS items plus clothing, etc. The exhibits focus a lot on the geology of the area (which makes sense, people visit for the hoodoos!), but also on the ecosystem and the native Americans who live here. Great information.

There was a food truck setting up in the parking lot, I think selling coffee and donuts. The rangers were friendly and helpful answering questions about road closures and offering suggestions. A great national park to check out if you are in the area. Check out my photos.

When I checked in, I was told there was still a "resort fee" to be paid, $15 per night. I said I already paid for the stay, and it included all taxes and fees. They said no, this is a fee you are charged when you check in. I said there was no mention of this. They said it would have been in the email confirmation, and it would have come from Expedia. I showed her my confirmation, with no mention of an additional charge and no mention of Expedia. They insisted I received another confirmation. I asked to see what as supposedly sent and they said it came from Expedia and they didn't have a copy. I asked them to contact Expedia and ask for them to send it again and they said they had no way of doing that. I had no choice but to pay since I had booked far in advance with a less expensive rate. I really felt taken advantage of. The room was old, dated and the TV didn't work. Will never stay here again.

Later, I encountered one of the previously mentioned shuttles with Utah license plate T32 1ZD driving aggressively. The driver came up behind me at a high rate of speed and began tailgating me. Unfortunately, the same shuttle continued following me toward Zion National Park. When it was safe to do so, I pulled over and allowed the shuttle to pass. The driver then accelerated away well above what I would consider a safe speed for the area and tailgated other vehicle. Speed limits exist for a reason, especially in and around a national park where there are winding roads, pedestrians, bicyclists, and wildlife. Driving 10+ mph over the speed limit and tailgating other vehicles creates an unnecessary safety risk for everyone on the road. I hope management addresses this behavior and reinforces safe driving practices with its drivers.

I have been a donor…read moreand member for over 18 years and my dreams of visiting the sanctuary exceeded all expectations. The sanctuary tour was informative and breathtaking, and the Pig & Goat Tour was an absolute highlight. Our tour guides, Cat and Tolo, were knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the animals in their care. Their stories and dedication made the experience even more meaningful. What touched me most, however, was meeting one of the many volunteers who travel to the sanctuary each year to give their time in service of its incredible mission. I met Holly, whose story deeply inspired me. She shared why she gratefully sets aside time from her own life to come here and be part of the sanctuary's mission to "Save Them All." Her compassion and selflessness reminded me that every volunteer is an essential piece of a much larger puzzle, giving hope to animals who deserve love, safety, and a second chance. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is so much more than a place to visit--it's a place that changes your perspective and fills your heart. Whether you come for a tour, volunteer, or simply experience the sanctuary, you'll leave inspired by the extraordinary people, the resilient animals, and the unwavering commitment to creating a better world for them. I cannot recommend it highly enough, and I know this won't be my last visit.

They had availability for the Grand Tour and after eating at the nearby Angel Village Cafe, we were off on the shuttle. Ours was a pretty personal tour with only 6 people in total. We first went over to see the resident pigs, including plenty of petting. I loved how they flopped down, ready for belly scratches, immediately upon us entering the pen! We then took a drive around Dogtown, then a stop at Cat World, including a visit into one of the 11 buildings on site. Plenty of cats lounging around to pet. Finally, we drove around the Bunny House, Wild Friends building, and Horse Haven. All in all, it took around an hour and a half, with plenty of excellent commentary the entire time. I do have to say I am a little skeptical about some of the stories - for example our tour guide Amanda told us about an animal shelter which didn't have any employees on site during the weekends so every Friday they euthanized the animals in their care... No way, right? Before visiting Best Friends Animal Society, I thought it was kind of cult-like, but they don't seem to be particularly pushy. In the end, it's a free tour, making it a cheap and entertaining way to spend an afternoon.
