I brought some mixed hair with me and the woman said she'd use their own braiding hair for $5 more. Okay. Well everything started out fine. The first braid was done properly. Then I notice that the woman has changed techniques and decided she'd take a short cut on the rest of my hair. I am not a hair stylist so I don't know. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought well if she's doing it this way, it must be okay. NOT. The next day my hair was a mess. The hair is coming undone. Braids are unraveled. I had to tuck pieces in to get on with my extremely busy day. I go back on Friday to let her know what happened and that I didn't appreciate her short cut. She denied that it was a short cut but she did start taking out one of the braids She re-braided that braid and then huffed and said, you don't want me to redo them all? I said, "well this braid looks bad". I looked at the third braid and though it was not done well, I felt I could live with it; so I told her, this one is not too bad you can leave it. Despite me saying to leave the last one, she took out both braids in the center (the last two of the four) and she braided them. Then she stops and walks away. I get up, I go over to her and say thank you and give her an additional $20 for fixing her error!!! I then precede to walk out, as I walk out, her employee grabs me and tells her boss that my hair wasn't finished. Turns out, I almost walked out of there looking even worse. She left the hair I couldn't see in the mirror half done. I was appalled. She then claimed that she told her employee to finish my hair. That wasn't true. AT ALL. Her employee didn't even know how to do it. So She actually finished my hair. It looks rough. It actually looks horrible. I'm stuck with it for now. With that being said; If you want someone to throw some false hair on your head and put a bow on it--Ask them to do your hair. If you want your hair professionally styled and cared for -Go Anywhere but this place. Actually when you walk in and see how disorderly and messy the place is--understand your hair will be a reflection of this storefront. I wish I had known. I deserve ALL MY MONEY BACK!

Bola the owner really tries her best to work with the customers, satisfy their needs and provide quality braiders who know their job well. Most of the times the customers will leave satisfied. On average I have paid between $130-$170 for services based on the length and size. To be honest for the location this could come off a little pricey but Bola (the owner) has on occasion dropped me home, done my hair in her home and will tighten up braids/ refresh my front row even a month later at no cost. Most of the store fronts on the Ave are owned and operated by Jews who live no where near there and are using the buildings as investment properties. They have no real interest in the neighborhood nor the people and so the buildings are poorly maintained with bathrooms with poor flushing systems, no water, lights cut off or no heat. When you're getting a service done for upwards of 4 hrs you'll need to relieve yourself at some point. To her credit Bola has taken to fixing their properties with her own money so her customers can have access to clean and working facilities. Sometimes we're so harsh on small businesses. Every little infraction we cut them off but we continue to patronize big businesses even after poor and discriminatory practices are exposed. I will continue work with Bola and should there ever be something I'm not happy with I will see to it we resolve it and move forward. I'm invested in seeing her and the girls especially Lola do well. They're like family now.

I was the only customer in the store yet no one acknowledged me except for this one girl who said good morning after I walked passed her. As I walk towards the back of the store to the wigs and ponytail area I encounter four older employees conversing about their day. No one acknowledges me but I feel one of them staring me down as I walked further away. Not sure how they have a job here, but it took about ten minutes for one of them to come my way. I guess she realized she should've asked if I needed help because she couldn't find me and tried to creep up to see what I was doing. Attitude in tow she asked if I needed help.
