After speaking with several training programs, visiting some, and prayerfully considering what the right choice should be Madi Potts helped make our choice easy. Before we would trust anyone with our little 7.5 lb boy, we had to get a sense of one's heart. My husband and I were not looking for someone who could simply "control dogs" or "make them obey commands". We wanted someone who had a heart for dogs to have better lives with structure, less fear, and longevity due to possibilities that came with what training offered. My first inquiry call with Madi was pretty long, if I recall right. She was patient, understanding of my many questions, and willing to talk as long as I needed to feel she was safe to go to next step with. We started with a 90 min at home training session to see first hand and understand how she would personally be as a trainer with Beans. That training was stressful and also a relief as we believed we found the right person to entrust our boy to. When the day came for him to be picked up, both my husband and I were crying. It wasn't just about trusting a new person to take care of Beans, it was also the resurfaced grief of losing our whippet girl of 11 years just a few months prior. The "what ifs" where overwhelming, but we agreed we were moving forward. Madi also saw our "anguish" if you want to call it that. She quickly said she typically doesn't give an update for the first 24-48 hours but she would update us that evening. To her word, we got a picture of beans at the park and our hearts settled a bit. Throughout the two weeks, Madi was wonderful about keeping us up to date and answering questions as needed or as we annoyed her (lol we might have been a little over the top haha) She never hesitated to share and ensure our boy was learning, and struggling in some areas, but overall doing great. Now that he is back with us, we have already had one of our follow up appointments and are so thankful Madi was who helped us with Beans. He was so happy to see her and made her say goodbye before leaving (even though he was supposed to "stay", lol). Training is still a ongoing work daily, Beans still doesn't love his crate but is accepting he is safe and it's ok to not see us 24/7 (Italian greyhounds are Velcro dogs to the max!) This was an emotional, time, and financial investment that we continue to place priority on. I know many will say do not board and train an Iggy, but for our family, giving him and us the tools to have a successful life together was important. We did our due diligence and don't regret our decision. Actually we are extremely grateful we found Madi and Suburban K9. When she left after our last follow up session she looked at Beans, gave him a scratch and said "I love you". I have no doubt she does, for that I am thankful. It is my hope everyone will find someone as knowledgeable and kind hearted toward an animals as Madi is. Thank you Suburban K9 for helping us learn puppy manners with Madi. We are forever grateful. Public Warning / Review…read more On October 23, 2023, my service dog Journey (then 13 months old) was mistreated and placed in danger at Canine Physical Rehab during a swim appointment. Journey had never worked with Becca before (who is now the current owner). Upon meeting him for the first time, she unhooked his leash in the lobby without my permission or following any of the usual safety protocols. Multiple safety gates and doors to the pool area were left open, and Journey--like most Goldens with a strong water drive--ran straight into the pool unsupervised. At that moment: * He was still wearing an electronic collar, putting him at risk. * No staff were in the pool room to ensure his safety. * He dove in unsupervised, which could have caused serious injury or drowning. Once in the pool, Becca ignored my repeated warnings that Journey required a toy in his mouth to prevent him from swallowing water (as his prior instructors had always done). Instead, she insisted he was "not swimming correctly" and began physically throwing him toward the pool stairs and table to force him into positions. Afterward, she told me Journey would be "punished" for running into the pool by being required to stand on equipment and watch the water instead of swimming for half his session--completely inappropriate and cruel. The results of this session: * Journey consumed so much water that he vomited repeatedly for over an hour afterward. * Our vet was concerned about possible dry drowning due to the excessive water intake. * The violent handling left him traumatized--and it traumatized us as his family to witness. When I voiced these concerns, the business dismissed them. Since then, they have also blocked me on all social media, preventing me from commenting and sharing what happened, which feels like an attempt to hide the truth. With Becca now the owner, I strongly warn other pet parents: this is not a safe place to bring your dog. Journey is a certified service and therapy dog, trained and experienced, yet he was still put at risk here. If this could happen to him, it could happen to anyone's dog. Your pet's safety and well-being are too important to risk.

It is so helpful to have someone you can ask questions of, to reassure and comfort you at a fraught and emotional time. Every criteria we had was met and exceeded: we wanted Maggie to feel no fear, to have unhurried time with her, to have a clear understanding of what was going to happen, to say goodbye on our terms. Maggie simply and immediately accepted Dr. Kriner's presence, decided she welcomed pets and affection from this sweet person she had never met. The only focus was Maggie, to have her feel complete love surrounding her, to let her enjoy cheeseburgers and chocolate, pets, hugs, kisses, many words of love, to make certain she knew exactly how special she was and always would be and that we were grateful for her life with us. There is no avoiding how heartbreaking a time it is, but to have a precious fur baby handled with love, calmness, gentleness, respect and care is an enormous comfort. We are so profoundly grateful for Dr. Kriner. She returned Maggie's ashes to us with the same compassion with which Maggie left our home. We are unspeakably touched by every aspect of interaction with Dr. Jessica Kriner of Compassionate Heart.
