Unfortunately the price was a small fortune for me. And so the options offered was put her down or have the surgery. So please.please stay far away from from this terrible hospital place. I applied for a hamster and found out that someone applied right before me. but the hamsters foster mom offered me two other hamsters that were available for adoption. The foster mom was quick to reply, answered all of my questions and was flexible with my schedule to meet. I could tell she took really amazing care of the hamster we adopted :) i definitely recommend adopting from this agency! read more

RUN, don't walk before adopting from this rescue. I was searching to adopt a cat that was declawed, and one really cute kitty popped up in the search criteria from this rescue online. I sent an inquiry, and they took 2 weeks to respond via email. Had a phone call afterward, spoke to the foster mom named Chris and she said the cat was definitely not declawed...."oops must be a mistake on the website". I thought this was a pretty big detail to screw up but decided I was still interested in the cat regardless and shook it off as just an error. After more discussion decided to meet the kitty for adoption, and was reassured the kitty was medically healthy and I would get all the records upon adoption. I drove 90 minutes to Aurora to meet the cat at a Petco and everything went well and decided to take her home. After signing the paperwork and paying the fee.....I am told " We will be emailing you the medical records today". Really? I really wanted the reassurance that her health was ok but at that point I drove all the way there, had the cat and trusted them to follow through. First week goes well at home with the kitty, and in the meantime I was going to schedule her first vet appointment with my own vet. I asked 2-3 times for the medical records, with no success. Week 2, cat becomes sick, vomiting....not eating...I had to take her to the vet asap after she continued to get worse. No records in hand. I pressured them that day that I really needed her medical history to give to the vet so I didn't have to duplicate tests and pay for things that may not be needed. I ended up receiving ONE rabies vaccination document. Nothing else. I said where is the rest?? No response from the rescue, and the foster mom gave multiple excuses ("We were having trouble getting records, so and so who we usually work with is gone at the office"). Red flag number two. I took kitty to the vet and had them do bloodwork on her, by this point she has not been eating for a few days and was acting very sick and hiding so the vet gave her medicines, fluids, exam, you name it. Cost me $600 to work on ruling out what might have been wrong and get proper testing done to know her true health condition. After the kitty's illness getting better and then back down to worse again, I ended up taking her back to the vet a SECOND time (another $300) for more follow up meds and treatment. Bloodwork is ready during this visit and the vet tells me she tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). My heart just broke. No wonder she was sick. No wonder they didn't send over her negative test results for FeLV which I was assured upon adoption that I would receive. As far as I am concerned they either lied or are so extremely disorganized to the point that they are just adopting out sick cats. I told the foster mom about her testing positive for FeLV and now showing symptoms....of course not only did she come up with excuses again ("tests come back with false positives, yada yada") BUT THE BEST PART IS SHE WASN'T EVEN CONCERNED THAT THIS FELV POSITIVE CAT WAS LIVING WITH HER OTHER FOSTER CATS. This is a very contagious virus and there is no cure. Icing on the cake...she tells me one of the other cats in her household is FIV POSITIVE. Another horrible contagious disease that could be transmitted to any healthy cat. I ended up deciding to cut my attachment to the kitty and returned her to them before I ended up shelling more $$$ to care for a cat with an eventually fatal prognosis and reduced lifespan. I am out around $1000 between adoption fees and medical care. No apologies from the rescue, the foster mom was noticeably angry when I returned the kitty. I have owned several pets in my life and have never had to give up a pet to anyone. To be in this position was a nightmare. Their operation is shady at best. read more

This is truly an amazing organization, full of dedicated and caring people devoted to animal rescue. I became aware of them when I was browsing dogs on Petfinder. I went to one of their events and met a wonderful dog named Amelia. They do their homework on prospective adopters including meet and greet, home visit, and follow up to make sure there is a match. Sarah and Kim were very knowledgeable on adoption and fostering and do not pressure to adopt a dog. I am now fostering Amelia and it is working out very well so far and will likely adopt her. In my opinion there is not a better organization out there especially for people wanting to adopt rather than getting a dog from a puppy mill. read more

She had trauma from abuse and this rescue was wonderful in nursing her back to health. They made the adoption process very easy and always keep in touch to see how she is. I love my bird, who is now happy and healthy. They take in animals that have special needs and I have great respect for their selfless work in helping these animals. Fur Angels is one of the few rescue organizations in the Chicagoland area that will help any animal no matter the species. They have a widespread team of volunteers who volunteer their time to foster, transport, fundraise, and coordinate rescuing and saving animals. Their main focus is really looking out for the best interest of each animal. Potential adopters are screened for the safety of the animal and to ensure that they will go into a forever home and not end up back in the system or worse. They do their best to help people as well when they reach out and need help with their animal. I have followed their social media posts for years and have found them to be very well organized and knowledgeable about the animals in their care. They are foster based but have regular adoption events so check out their Facebook page for upcoming events where you can meet the animals. The volunteers are more than happy to answer your questions. These are very passionate animal people! If you are looking to adopt a rescue animal, do your research about the species, breed, and animal that you are considering. Please be kind and patient with the volunteers who give up their time and money to help the animal that you would call your own. They have day jobs and family obligations too. Addition 12/10/2015 - Since I posted this review on Facebook and on Yelp yesterday, I was removed as a member from their Facebook page. That's very unfortunate and show's the company's character. As a business showing good customer service, the first thing that should have been done is contact me to apologize for the treatment and ask what could be done to rectify the situation. Again, I was pushed off and ignored. Real nice. Quality people at this place. Original review - I am severely disappointed in the treatment I received at Fur Angels, or I should say, lack there of. I was referred to this adoption company through a friend who had just found a kitten outside of his home and turned him into Fur Angels. Someone my friend knows was the foster parent so he put me in touch with the foster parent directly. I filled out the application on the website. I even visited the foster home to meet the kitten. The kitten turned out to be approximately 8 weeks old. Before Fur Angels would adopt him out, they said he needed to be neutered and microchipped. He would also get most of his shots, but I would be responsible for taking him into the vet for the last few weeks of shots. I understood all of this. I contacted my vet, that I have been going to for more than 10 years, and described all the information I was given. I expressed concern that I thought that fixing a kitten at the age of 8 weeks was too young and that I wanted to decline micro chipping. I was told by my vet that they would not recommend neutering the kitten until 4 months old. They also said that my declining micro chipping should have been okay because it is not required by law. I wanted to see if it was possible if I adopted the kitten and took him to my vet to be neutered when he was of age and have my vet bill Fur Angels. I even offered to take full financial responsibility for the procedure because I just wanted to make sure the cat was safe. First, I emailed Fur Angels on their website through the Contact Us link. I explained everything above. I never received a response. I then called Fur Angels 3 times. No one ever picked up. I left a very detailed message explaining my concerns and told them I also sent an email on their website. I never received a response. I contacted the foster parent explaining everything and asked for an update on the kitten. I never received a response. I even saw that Amber Kay posts her personal AOL email address on the website. I emailed her directly, with copies of the emails I sent previously, and not even the president and founder of the company responded to me. Needless to say, they are the WORST adoption place I have ever dealt with. It would have taken all but a few minutes to respond to me if they wanted to decline my inquiries for adoption. I have worked with Strays Halfway House, The Almost Home Foundation, and just completed an adoption through Orphans of the Storm. They were all wonderful. I would never recommend adopting through Fur Angels. It's too bad they wouldn't give a me the time of day. You would think that someone who is that concerned for an animal's well-being was willing to take full financial responsibility, a not-for-profit organization would jump at the chance to work with someone that cared for animals that much. I love this rescue! I started fostering in Jan 2019 and have had an awesome experience. The rescue pays for all the food, cages, vetting when you foster. Everyone in this rescue cares deeply for their fosters and we all find loving homes for them. Some go faster than others but we have a great process in place. The rescue takes in all types of animals and it's based out of the persons home not a shelter. So when we do get a sick animal in they get better quicker bc they're not at a shelter stressed. We have weekly/monthly adoption events and they draw people in to meet the foster animals before hand so they're able to see if they want to adopt or not. I highly recommend because they care for their animals, if there's an animal in need we try our best to find a foster that can help quickly to get them out of a shelter or bad situation. In my experience I've been blessed to find the best adoptive families for my fosters. Most of them send updates with pictures and it is so heartwarming to see the growth of the animals when they get loving families. read more

We are lucky that this rescue exists. This rescue takes in literally every animal with the exception of wildlife and farm animals. Adopting is quite a simple process, and people get back to you very fast and work with you to arrange the adoption. Not only have I adopted from this rescue, but I am a foster mom for them too. All supplies is provided and vetting is paid for through the rescue. You are assigned a coordinator based on where you live and they help you when you're in need of anything and help you get your foster pets. All the coordinators are lovely, knowledgeable and overall amazing! You also can attend adoption events at different pet stores and other fun places with other FA volunteers and foster pets to help promote them and help them get adopted. It is such a wonderful experience for everyone, plus you're saving lives. 1000/10 would recommend adopting and/or volunteering with this rescue! read more

people who foster make sure that the right information is obtained. if you want a cat or dog without questions asked by all means go to the ASPCA and SAVE A LIFE!. as a rescue myself, I don't give my rescues to anyone who can not provided the proper information to me. and as a rescue who works full time and cares for animals its not always a response in 5 min of getting an email.. most often it goes to junk mail. when we rescue a cat or dog we can only go by what information is given to us. Terrible Service! We were in the process of getting a cat. The add on PetFinder did not include getting the cat's sister as a package deal. I spoke with "Chris" about only wanting the one cat on the phone and she said it was fine. We are ready emotionally to pick up the cat and Chris sends a message today with word that now she's got someone who would get both cats and would I be willing to take another cat? Really?!! Just wanted to express my disappointment with this organization. I had expressed an interest in adopting a pair of kittens they had for adoption. To make a long story short, I tried to ask questions about them, filled out an adoption application, and between 3 separate individuals within their organization was essentially blown off by every single one. I did not "receive a call within 24-48 hours", as their website states, nor did I receive a call at all, even after multiple attempts to get into contact with somebody. The little information I was given was incorrect and varied depending on who I spoke with. I finally asked if I could just see the kittens, and said I could the Friday after they were vaccinated. (There was fear about me spreading germs to them??) I waited and waited after that Friday and finally just gave the entire thing up. Thankfully I now have a beautiful pair of kittens from a different rescue, which I acquired headache free. Seriously - if somebody is considering adopting an animal - or 2 or 3! - actually giving them the time of day and a little courtesy when dealing with them goes a long way if you truly want your animals to find homes. read more

I feel that everything we were told about the dog that we adopted was false. From the type of breed that the dog was all the way to being house trained. I am very disappointed. I feel that the foster house he was in did nothing to improve the dogs demeanor, and that is part of the problem. We were told he was house trained, that's a lie. We were told he didn't have flees, that's a lie. We were told he wasn't aggressive towards people, that's a lie, he bit me and my child. We were told he was found in a kill shelter, but we were given paper with a date of birth, so I'm assuming that was also a lie. We were told we would be given his microchip papers, another lie. We were told that he was a fox terrier mix, that's a lie clearly this dog is a pomeranian. Don't waste your time with this "rescue". I am very unhappy with how they lied about EVERYTHING. The dog we adopted has attacked 2 people in my house, gone to the bathroom all over my house, and now we are paying to have my home treated for flees. read more
