I've been visiting dentists for over 50 years, and never really thought that any of them separated themselves from all the others when it comes to hospitality and professionalism. Professional yes but until my recent visits to btyDental in Tacoma, I just thought that hospitality just wasn't a priority with dental offices. OMG, these folks at btyDental are of a different breed. A dentist who I swear to gawd, was like a concerned father when it came to my dental condition. He was awesome. The front office and dental assistants treated me like family. What more can I say? Seamar filled a wisdom tooth, and said I needed to get the other one filled. Months later, BTY told me the filling was on the non-filled tooth, and that the cavity was on the filled side, and even told me "You're going to find this hard to believe, but...", and yeah, I did find it hard to believe, since they're MY teeth and I can FEEL them. Even when I pointed to it and said "I can feel it, it's right here", they said, "No, you're mis-remembering". I said I was done with BTY if I had to see that doctor again, so the next 2 times I saw someone else, and things were fine(although she didn't find any cavities either). Cut to 7 months later, I feel the original, unfilled cavity that Seamar found, but BTY said did not exist, and this time BTY finally agreed with the Seamar dentist from 2 years ago(probably since the cavity had plenty of time to grow). Then, after the cleaning today, I got THAT SAME GUY, and this time he RIPPED OUT my filling and then tried to sell me on FOUR wisdom teeth removals. When he ripped out the filling, he tried to tell me "It's food". Obviously he's either frequently incorrect(at best), or simply not a trustworthy person(at worst). Anyways, now I have a HUGE hole in my tooth, and an appointment with the GOOD dentist at Seamar. Avoid BTY like the plague-- it was unacceptable to tell me I was wrong about my own body, and now I'm dealing with a minor medical emergency. I feel like they should be paying for Seamar's dental work at this point, and possibly additional damages. The all that being said, the staff is friendly. read more

I took my mom in to get a tooth extraction and from the start with communication, it was fantastic. Savannah was very prompt with responding and booking my mom's appt. Matthew the dental assistant and the dentist(I forgot her name) were very gentle and patient with mom mom knowing she hasn't been in for a check up over 15yrs. First let me say that my son HATES the dentist. I will follow that very quickly with, i do not have to fight him to go to the dentist anymore. Dr. Stallworthy and his staff are very kind & considerate. They are always willing to go the extra mile to make the patients feel comfortable. I do think, however, that Dr. Stallworthy, likes to play the 'let me ask you a question now that there is no way you can answre it' game. It's funny though because then i try to do sign language with him and he makes his own answers up. read more

Something is off here. Things must have changed since the last reviews because O.M.G. It was like walking straight into the 1990's. First I noticed there were no patients, at all. And only 3 people working. The front desk lady was odd, like she was ready to have a melt down. First thing i noticed being walked back is how bleak it is in there. Oooold linoleum floors, dental chairs so old they're discolored, cracked and hard. I haven't seen a chair like that in 20 + years. Looking around there was thick dust on everything, and I mean everything- floors, dentist foot peddle, etc and the metal chair in the corner was dirty. The edging on the cabinets and hoses for the tools were dark yellow/discolored from age. The dentist was nice and did a great job so I asked if he's there regularly- They don't have a permanent dentist. I can see why. I wouldn't want to work there. This place is in need of a SERIOUS OVERHAUL. I was very uncomfortable and wish I had went to the one in Puyallup. I thought they were affiliated, they are not. I moved to Tacoma and was looking for a closer dentist. I didn't reschedule. read more

Rainier Dental is the best! I'm a scaredy cat big time and I have had my share of horrible dentist visits so I was completely surprised with how easy, painless and comfortable my visits were. I have seen 3 dentist at this location due to my time constraints, accident that I had, and traveling. They always got me in and worked around my schedule. Each Dentist was awesome. I'm sad that we are moving away and I had to say goodbye. Trust me, if you need to see a dentist, you want to go to them. My last procedure was a root canal from a botched filling that another dentist did. Dr. Sapp cleared up the infection I had, root canal and crown and I never felt a thing. They accept Tricare and do payment plans on the big stuff. The staff is great and extremely friendly. It's rare you find a dental office that really cares and they do. I hope my review saves someone else from going to the wrong dentist. Be smart and go to Rainier Dental your mouth will thank you. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I had a horrible experience with the Dr. I was getting cavities filled and he was going to inject me with the Novocaine. I asked him to "wait! I didn't have the topical." He pushed my hand aside and said I didn't need it and injected me. It hurt. He told me it was just psychological and his 25 years of dental experience tells him I didn't need it. He apologized for dismissing my request and again mentioned that he knows it has psychological benefits though it has no physical benefits. The reception ladies are friendly. However, when I called to complain I was assured a manager would follow up with me. No one has ever followed up with me or reached out to me. Overall just bad bad bad! read more

I visited Rainier Dental for the first time this morning and was so pleased! The front office was amazing and efficient and my hygienist was great! I had x-rays done and she talked me through everything from my x-rays to my cleaning. Dr. Bae was kind and thorough. I even got a $50 credit since my neighbor referred me and she got one too! I am so happy and relieved I found a great dentist, as I hadn't been since we moved here over a year ago. read more

I used to go to this facility years ago, had an amazing hygenist and Dentist for about 4 years straight. Didn't have insurance for about 2 yrs and just recently went back. New hygenist and new dentist, loved them both. Did my cleaning and scheduled me for a filling about 2 weeks later. When I came back, in just 2 weeks (yesterday ), the reception staff checked me in. When I went back, I was told the dentist would be un to numb me --when actually the assistant who i never met before came in and administered the injection. It hurt so badly- the back of my head and my neck shoulder and arm all stung, i asked her to stop--immediately had tears rolling down my face. she kept injecting saying almsot done, just a Little pinch. I almost grabbed her hand out of my mouth when she finally stopped. I told her how badly it hurt and that i could feel it in my arm and neck-- she said the lower mouth injections hurt the worst---as though I had never been to the dentist and had lower mouth injections before. I said i have had lower mouth injections and never have i felt them in my arm. All she could say was she was sorry it hurt. Then the dentist came in and i had never seen him before either, i told him how horrible it was all he could say was sorry-- they did get me water at my request. He tried to do more novicain, i said no way man. Just do the procedure---after i took a few moments to stop shaking and crying, they did and he was very gentle but this same assistant was clanging tools against my teeth, piching my lip between suctuion and my teeth and actually allowed fluid to build up so that I had to cough and choke and i had to ask her to suction so. I have never had such a horrible experience and i never want to go to any dentist ever again to be honest. I called today because my bite is still off and they couldnt see me so scheduled me for two days from now. I have always been taken in right away when i had a problem so that was weird. They eventually called me back and got me in today. I wont be going back. I cant. The dentist did call me to see how I was today but it was after I posted this yelp wich they probably read. read more

New patient, Was directed to Rainer Dental by my insurance coverage, Had a broken tooth and was fit in asap and was informed I had an infection and was given antibiotics and was asked to return a week later. Tooth was removed no problem. Dr. Woodward was wonderful, She dealt with my unrational fear of dentists very well. Talked me through the procedure and concerned about any pain I was feeling during procedure which I had none of. I will be returning for cleaning and check up very soon. Highly recommend. read more

my initial experiences with this place were great, i was moving to Michigan while my husband deployed and almost wanted to stay in Washington just for my awesome dentist, this was in 09. Well when i came back in 2010 the dentist i had was no longer working at this location, and their rates had gone up ALOT. I was quoted for everything that needed to be done in my mouth before i left,, free of charge. All i did was sit in the chair on my first visit back and pulled my cheek back to show the new doc my problem tooth, got a ridiculous quote for the work that needed to be done on it, turned down the work, and left. Next thing i know SIX MONTHS later i get a bill in the mail saying i owe them $94... what? I call them and the fee was from just sitting in the chair- an "exam" i don't recommend this money grabbing business to anyone, they have really gone down hill. What once was a great place to go is now only looking out for themselves and their wallets. Dont trust this place you may get a bill for looking at their magazines in the waiting room. read more
