Reception got me a same day appointment, and a few days later I received a card in the mail welcoming me to the practice. My appointments were always with Dr. Campbell who treated me and my cat with kindness, compassion, and truly cared about the wellbeing of my cat. She would call me to follow up in between visits, was amazing at breaking down bloodwork results and explaining possible prognoses, treatments, etc. in terms that a person outside of the veterinary field would understand. She also takes the behavior and physical signs of the animal into account. She doesn't just rely on bloodwork results and blindly prescribe mediation, which is what I dealt with at a different practice. During the 1 month while we were treating my cat, I was coming to the office about once a week, and during this time Dr. Campbell was going to be out for a week. She emailed me while she was out to check in on how my cat was doing, which shows how dedicated she is to the treatment of her clients. Unfortunately, my cat did wind up passing away, but not due to any lack of medical care. When I called the office to let them know, and to inquire about cremation options, reception was very sympathetic and Dr. Campbell personally called me to express her condolences. A few days after his passing, I received a sympathy card in the mail signed by all staff, even staff I had never interacted with. When I went back to the office 2 weeks later to pick up my cat's paw print, reception was again apologetic for my loss. I will forever recommend Dr. Campbell to any cat owner (she also treats pocket pets, rabbits, etc.) I told her in person that she was meant for this job and I really meant it. I know that together her & I did everything we could to try to help my cat and it has made my grieving a lot easier. Thank you ERVH!!

Dr Perrier misdiagnosed my dog and administered this shot in another exam room to my dog without asking me first or giving me any information about the danger and side effects especially that this drug has a warning from the FDA. Even after my dog had the side effects he did not follow up with that it was the cause of the drug and misdiagnosed my dog causing her to deteriorate and pass away after months of suffering.

I already knew this was gonna get fishy. Callbacks happened a couple times until finally they concluded that my dog needs a blood test to refill a Trazodone prescription. What? Since when? She didnt need one in the past. MONEY GRAB ALERT! Totally bogus information. Google it. Dogs dont require a blood test for a Trazodone prescription. Any time the visit was with Guzman, there was always "something we should consider". Take a sample of a bump and send to a lab. Do a full panel of blood test after she already had a clean bill of health (Oh but if you act now, we can get it for a cheaper price). Blood test to refill a prescription. Im sure he has an exclusive contract with the lab and is committed to filling quotas. That's how they work. Additionally, my neighbors had a sick cat last year. They asked me if I knew of a vet. I sent them to Assissi. Neighbors were told the cat needed to stay the night. Next morning, neighbors called to setup picking up the cat. Cat died. Initially was told the cat choked on his own vomit. Neighbors asked why didnt anyone help? They were told that no one stays there overnight. What? Then why did the cat need to stay the night? To make matters worse, they were handed a massive bill...all to have them kill my neighbors cat...from their first visit to Assissi through my recommendation. I was turned off from that story and was thinking of leaving then. Well after this Trazodone BS, we're confirmed to part. I can toss a stone in any direction and hit a vet, there are so many. Money grab tactics will lose in the end. Nothing bad to say about the front desk or the technicians. They were always awesome. Just stay away from their boss. Money grab!

I took my 6 year old English bulldog, Peaches, for an enema due to constipation on 1/15/26. She had…read moreone in August 2025 but needed another again. My husband dropped her off at 8:30AM, I get a text saying she is recovering around 2PM. 15 mins later my husband calls me frantically saying they are doing CPR on Peaches. I'm confused now since I recieved a text saying shes recovering. I call the vet and the receptionist also says they are doing CPR. I ask to speak to the vet, and the vet asks if I would like her to continue CPR. She informed me that have been doing CPR for 25 mins, at this point I realize Peaches is dead and I tell them to stop CPR. I asked why this happened, the vet responds with because shes a brachycephalic dog. My husband works only two blocks from me so we both leave work and head to the vet together. I'm crying my eyes out because Peaches was my first child, my husband is distraught but has to keep it together since we are driving. Peaches had no other health issues besides constipation, she should not have died. We get to the vet, the receptionist says sorry for your loss and points us to a room where they had Peaches body. The vet does not come to us at any point to say she is sorry or to go over the events as to what lead to Peaches untimely death. I shouldn't have lost my little girl. She went in for a simple procedure. This practice has no compassion and its all a money making business. See the attached photos to this review, the text message saying she is recovering (clearly she never recovered so it was misleading), the bill (for the enema which I have no idea if they did and the charge for CPR), and a picture of Peaches. I purchased her from a reputable breeder specifically so that she would not have any breathing issues. So in short, if you plan to take your pet there for a procedure that requires anesthesia, think again. You may leave with a dead body instead.

He was able to diagnose Chip with kennel cough and also discovered a rash we didn't notice . He gave medication for the cough and the rash both have cleared . We are forever grateful . Also it wasn't super expensive in comparison to what one would pay for an emergency visit to the vet or animal hospital .

He has taken care of many of our pets over the years, and has been compassionate and competent. He explains everything well, and answers questions. He does not order unnecessary tests or treatments. As a neighborhood doctor for me, he has been very good for our animals, and not greedy. He will accept installment payments for his services, if need be. I have been to other Vet offices, and they are usually pushing this and that service or medicine that you don't need. I take my dog to Petco for vaccinations, because of the convenience, and only bring her into the office if she is really sick. And Dr. Penson is available, and always answers his phone, or he will get back to you, if he is elsewhere.

Our dog started to show signs of anxiety. We called the vet to get some advice on how to handle. We did classes, at home training, and medication. In the beginning, medication was working well and simple. We followed any orders given to us and asked what more we could do. Over the past year, this place has become a stress inducing mess. His medication refills were not filled properly, they became rude to us and my dog. Whenever we required a refill, there was always push back. They would claim we'd run out quickly and "something seemed off" according to his medical records. I stated how the medication is not filled correctly and we'd never had a problem until recently. This place would make it seem that I was either over medicating my dog or we were using it ourselves. Each visit made it seem like we were doing something wrong. We came up with the solution of prefilled syringes. This was great the first time around until THE VET decided to not continue this. Then we had a problem again and more push back. The communication sucked. We would be told his meds would be done one day, we'd arrive ready to pick them up, and would hear that they never actually put in the meds. Of course that part is not in his medical records. Most of his medical records are them covering their own mistakes up. We decided to go elsewhere and were met with nasty staff, medical records with rude comments and saying we "seemed off". I am truly disgusted with this place and would NEVER recommend it. Whatever advice and tips they gave us, we took. Whatever orders and requests they gave, we did. I'm not sure what happened to this place. We took the meds THEY suggested, administered as they told us, and had issue after issue. This place cares more about money and people they like. My dog is well taken care of and always is up to date on any medical needs. I am so disappointed in this place and hope they either change or shut down.

One of my dogs, Queenie, was attacked by a much larger dog and suffered a collapsed lung. We were devasted. Other veterinarians were saying Queenie was in very bad shape and might not survive. When we brought her to West Hempstead Animal Hospital, Dr. DeVito gave Queenie her undivided attention, canceling most of her non-urgent appointments that day to focus entirely on saving her. Dr. Devito didn't give up. She worked tirelessly, treated her with incredible care, and fought for her life. Not only did Queenie survive-she went on to live an additional 11 healthy, happy years. That level of skill, compassion, and commitment is rare. If you want a veterinarian who truly cares and will go above and beyond for your pet, West Hempstead Animal Hospital is the place to go. I chose Garden City Park Animal Hospital when I adopted my cats because Dr. Dattner had always been…read morekind to my family's dogs when i was growing up (~20 years ago), and was not disappointed. Scheduling an appointment has always been pretty easy, and the front desk staff have always been very nice/helpful to me. After adopting my formerly feral girl, i was a frequent flyer for a few months with prep, surgery, and after care visits, and they were always willing and able to answer my questions regarding prescriptions and payments. Most recently, I saw Dr. Lotus Altholtz, who was very kind and gentle to my 2 nervous cats (though my cats might complain that she wants me to cut back on their treats a bit). The biggest stars though, are the assistants (nurses ?) who help keep my 2 calm and on the table during exams. They are all very friendly, and help put both my cats and me, a very nervous first time cat owner, at ease. Sometimes appointment waits run a little long, but its a small price to pay, and they are certainly more timely than any of my doctors! I would definitely recommend using them as your vet!
