Since 2014, my wife and I have been taking our pets to All Creatures. They have always been so kind and caring, the whole staff. Unfortunately we've had some issues with two of our cats, one passed away at 6 from some neurological disorder, and now my 13 year old orange Tabby, Thor is battling cancer. The doctors and staff could not be more caring if they tried. They even have labeled Thor "the best cat ever". If you live anywhere near Long Beach (Oceanside, Atlantic Beach, Island Park, etc..) We have had such great care for our one-eyed dog at All Creatures. Jackie gets the best treatment and tonometry (checking of her eye pressures) at All Creatures, Dr. Gelfand and all of his staff have helped Jackie to remain a one-eyed dog and to get that remaining eye healthy. The front desk staff is able to quickly direct us to whatever service we need and help us keep on top of vaccines needed. Jackie is also Pet Partners Therapy dog and to her health certificate needs to always be up to date and the staff never hesitates to email out all the information we need to allow her to be able to never miss her Pet Therapy visits. Jackie loves coming to All Creatures and she gets great TLC there. Highly recommend them especially with dogs who have vision problems. read more

Rude, unprofessional office manager and her little " helper adelle", who do not know how to talk to the clients, hanging up the phone and offering " to transfer the file some place else". taking down appointments when they are not suppose to do so and then cannot even guarantee that your appointment will go through! ...and I ve been with this place since 2001! Apparently their "head got too big"... not a problem, people will leave very fast where office manager is " annoyed" with her own job, receptionist is behaving like a bitch who is sooo disinterested in helping and reaolving problems and the doctors , who do not care about their business and allowing their employees this unacceptable attotude. I wish I felt the same way about All Creatures as I had when I first reviewed the clinic. I feel that it has been slowly spiraling downward, no longer being able to meet our needs, and has hired a BEYOND disrespectful receptionist. There are other reasons as well. While I am upset that I had to fire All Creatures, my husband is taking it even worse. I had to do what is best for my Chindren and this is not the place for them. I have a baby who has mitral valve prolapse and the doctor who used to do echocardiograms is no longer there. Turns out that she now has to be monitored every few months because of how advanced it has become. Dental care is important. With regular appointments one would hope that the doctors would have at least checked them. This is where there are a few issues. The doctors brought in a dentist from California who could take care of teeth without sedation but was uncaring when speaking to me. My husband liked that there was no sedation. I liked there was no sedation. Who wants their canine to have to do that unless necessary? However, I kept telling my husband that we should have the kids' teeth cleaned and he kept scaring me asking me how I would feel if Daisy were to die from it. Well, Daisy wound up with a pretty bad dental issue and had to get it taken out. The dental issue was discovered after she finally saw the vet. My husband was told that if that didn't fix the situation then she has a tumor. I have washed my hands of All Creatures and found a much better caring veterinary service. Daisy has been healing from pneumonia and is still on antibiotics. She was x-rayed and does NOT have a tumor! Thank God! Beware of Marissa. I have NEVER had one normal interaction with her! She has lied to me. She has been BEYOND disrespectful. I contacted All Creatures in the beginning and was told the doctors would be made aware of the situation but that was only after the office manager tried to blame me. She even wanted to the minute what time the conversation took place. Evidently the doctors were never notified because when I left messages (two separate times) Dr. Gelfand and Dr. Geltman were supposedly in the dark about my disdain. I don't know if I believe that. Dr. Geltman was good especially when it came to acupuncture back in the day. The majority of the staff is wonderful and we'll miss them but my kids deserve the best. read more

Our perfectly healthy 3 year old golden doodle dog passed away while being boarded at All Creatures for less than a 24 hour time period. We were left with MANY QUESTIONS UNANSWERED regarding our dog's sudden death and as a result we can never trust or work with this animal hospital ever again. A few years ago my 2 dogs were patients at a DIFFERENT practice in Bellmore. While I always felt comfortable bringing them here at one point I needed a 2nd opinion and went to All Creatures in Long Beach. It's a half hour ride each way, but well worth the trip for peace of mind. TAKE NOTE. Same procedure; yet 2 totally different experiences........ Our dogs quality of life shifted and we knew it was time. I never had anything to compare this process to, but was pretty upset at the way it was done. Our old vet in Bellmore placed our 13 year old Bearded Collie on the medical table and spoke with us about what was to come. He injected Disney (who weighed about 60 pounds) while we were petting him (he was standing, as he was nervous and wouldn't sit). The medication worked SOOO incredibly fast, that our dog just 'dropped' literally, dropped on the table. A few minutes later another injection and the Dr. pronounced him gone. To this day, I feel terrible at how an ending.....a sad moment became a horrible memory ..... by the way he was put to sleep. Cold, very cold!! We came to All Creatures, located in Long Beach after several of the Drs. in the Bellmore group couldn't seem to diagnosis my other dog a a year later. We learned immediately after changing vets she had pancreatitis and eventually Cushings and Diabetes. She lived an additional 4 years under All Creatures care. I thought I knew what to expect when her quality of life shifted and the time had come to put her to sleep. I had a pit in my stomach making the call and of what was going to go on.... ...... BUT we were unprepared and totally blown away by the warmth, patience, love and integrity that Dr. Geltman AND his staff showed us. The staff had a small blanket on the floor, and injected our dog to relax her. They said it would take about 10-15minutes to relax her. Monique and another vet tech came in to check on us and talk to our girl. They left us with her; coming in every few minutes. She was nervous, but soon seemed to relax, even wagging her tail. She eventually laid down with us on the blanket they provided. She was just so calm. The assistant called the Dr. back in and he then injected her with the dose of medication that helped her to finally RIP. In my opinion ALL vets AND staff should be trained to euthanize an animal THIS way. While we all left that room that day sad, we were so at peace with the process. read more

God bless All Creatures Veterinary Hospital! I don't say that lightly. My Audrey got locked in our post sandy basement overnight by accident. It's very damp and half is still filled with sand. When I finally found her she had sand caked in her nose and all around her mouth and was having trouble breathing. I called All Creatures hysterical and they were able to get her in right away. The staff was so nice from the moment I walked in. The vet has kept me updated every few minutes with what's going on. So we go in with our cat who hadn't eaten in days and was looking awful. Told they would try a round of fluids and give an enema to stop a blockage. Then x-rays if needed and other tests. The following day told the cat is doing fine and could be released the following day. Apparently overnight our cat started vomiting uncontrollably and was in really bad shape. Our cat was left to sit in a cage strewn in its own vomit and we didn't get a call until after 1pm! So from 8am when they first came in until just after 1pm (a total of 5 hours) our cat was ignored and suffered. At 2pm our cat died of cardiac arrest when no one helped. You would think because of the negligence they would refund some money to us. Nope. They said we were lucky they decided not to charge us for cremation of the cat they neglected for so many hours. When I asked why an x-ray wasn't done (our cat had swallowed some string causing a blockage), they said we didn't ask for one. Infuriated I told them I'm not a vet, you should be telling me what needed to be done. When confronted about why they ignored that cat for 5 hours they just said sorry, but your cat would have probably died anyway! So we spent $500 to have our cat die over 3 days in misery at this place. We will be looking for other vets. STAY AWAY. read more

I know some people hate boarding their pets because "my dog needs to stay at a hotel, where someone can scratch and rub and play with her all day" eff that, I don't want my dog staying at any luxury pet hotel when I travel - she'll expect the same when she gets home, and she's already spoiled rotten. I board my bowsa here whenever I'm on the road, even if I'm just going away for one night - I have a dog walker, but I don't trust my pitbull to behave herself when left to her own bearings for more than 8 hours. When I drop off my doggie, she is one happy little nugget. They all know her by sight (thats either because she's so cute or she's so annoying - either way, she takes after her mom), she seems happy enough going there, they make sure she's up to date on all her shots, they do whatever weird tests they do on her poo, and they have the kind of dog food she eats. When I pick up my doggie, she is THRILLED to see me, she smells like roses (cause they give her a bath) and her nails are done. One of the people that work there scratches her rump and says "say good bye to uncle wayne!" and she's off. My puppy's happy, I'm happy. I get her home and she sleeps like a rock for three days - all that extra play time must really be paying off. read more

I normally never bother writing reviews, but in this case I have to. I'm a NYC fireman. I had found a baby pigeon that was in bad shape behind our firehouse. It was missing a lot of feathers and seemed very malnourished. I called a bunch of local vets in my area and none were willing to try to help this poor little bird. I started searching vets outside my area and came across All Creatures. I spoke to a lovely lady named Adelle (I hope I spelled that right) who graciously allowed me to come in and drop off this baby bird and try to help. So the point of this review is that when nobody else was willing to help, this place was. And that tells me that they truly care about animals. God bless you Adelle. Dr. Gelfand is a experienced veterinary doctor and surgeon who performs many operations during the day and sees patients towards the evening. His calm demeanor can relax the most stressed out person (points to self) and make them feel at ease knowing that everything is being done to nurse their pet back to health. Whether its a fever, a cold, allergies or worse, he is quick and thorough to diagnose and plan out the best course of action... people doctors should be this thorough in my opinion, and lucky for me, my doc is. I feel like they're always up charging. Took my dog in when she was showing stomach distress (turned out she had sand compaction). They didn't diagnose correctly even though I reported taking her to beach day before and then when I called back to ask if the treatment course should still be the same given we now knew what it was, doctor didn't get back to me for two days!! We had to basically guess how to treat her for those two days. We talked at length about costs and after paying/agreeing on $400 worth of care, I received a bill for another $65! When I called, they were like whoops- they probably forgot to add it in. Will not be returning. read more

We've moved a few times, so this is our third vet that is taking care of our two dogs. We absolutely love All Creatures. From the staff at the front desk to the different doctors we've met with, everyone who works here is very pleasant, helpful, and very caring for our pets. Their advice and fees are always reasonable, and appointments are generally available as needed. The doctors are also wonderful about returning calls. One thing I noticed that really stands out above other vets is how they take their time to allow nervous pets to relax and feel comfortable. After using All Creatures for years and looking past that everytime you call you are put on hold forever, I had it! I brought my dog in as he wasn't feeling well. Since its COVID they pick up your pet from the car and the vet will call you and discuss the exam. This time they brought my dog back and called me for payment. I asked to speak to the vet to discuss the exam and they passed me along to multiple techs but all I wanted to do is speak to the vet. The final person I got was rude and nasty who said "lady im hanging up the phone" remember all I wanted to do is talk to the vet. Since i was still in my car in front, I went inside. As I enter the tech I spoke to last (very tall, very skinny, kid) asked me to leave and then had the nerve to call me a "karen" and commented that I had a Porsche. I got irate and asked for the vet! Then the manager came out and the sh*t hit the fan. I was upset and angry by the treatment of the staff that I told them to send me my pets files as I am never coming back again. I have 3 dogs and a cat, you would think they would care. BEWARE! Obviously the staff has the ability to do and say anything they want. I had to bring my dog in one morning after finding him convulting and shaking and not able to move. I called his usual vet that sees him but was placed on a death hold and then was told they were too busy to help. I called All Creatures immediately and was welcomed and willing to help although he had no history with their doctors. I did not even tell them about his original doctor. The doctors and nurses were really caring and listened to our explanation of his history and provided us with updates periodically. Whenever I called to check on my dog, they were more than happy to update me instead of being aggravated like I've experienced elsewhere. They took really good care of my pet and nursed him back. I even discovered they trimmed his nails for me which is a huge thing for me because my dog always fights me on that. Thank you to all the staff at All Creatures! read more

I rescued my 10 year old chihuahua Pops last April and have continuously been impressed and grateful for the care he has received from All Creatures. The staff are highly empathetic, attentive and are able to deliver personalized services to your pet. My roommate and I both use them and receive expert care. During covid they were able to find a way to meet both pet and owners needs when we can't actually be in the room with them, which as any dog owner knows can be very hard!! They also always seem to find a way to fit you in even if it's last minute. My only complaint is that they are pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. Pops and I love you guys. Only recall positive interactions with Dr's, vet techs and office staff. Haven't been in 2 years and they're emailing me records for my new vet with no hassle. On the expensive side, but never seen a vet 'worth their weight in salt' who wasn't costly. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again if in Long Beach area and in need of vet care. Should have learned our lesson first time after experiencing a mis diagnosis from a cereal box certified vet that led to mistreatment and added difficulty to an older dog. Now during a pandemic where chaos is a bit mainstream after less than a month after services rendered a bill was put to collection. After failed contact attempts bc they had wrong contact information....OFFICE MANAGER lied to us and said we have her this information when we tried to resolve payment then contact phone number was 2 plus years old. My name is Robert Corrado, i am from Massapequa NY and i had the pleasure using All Creatures two weeks ago for the first time. My 12 year old golden retriever had a tumor on his hind knee and my regular doctor wanted me to see a specialist. My friend Larry Gold has been using Dr. Gelfand for 20 years and swears by him. I waited 5 min before i was seen and the first thing that this Dr. did was get on the floor to examine my dog. he petted him, played with him and did a through exam. After the x-rays he advised me that he could in fact remove this tumor and give back to my wife and i some more time with our pet. Doctor Gelfand knew how to treat a pet as if it was his own and that is important, real important. So with that said the surgery went fine and a few days later we had our dog back.
