Derek has been walking our boxer/pitbull mix, Shiloh, for a few years now. He walked her when I lived in an apartment building off Broadway a few years back, and now visits her in our house on E. Walnut Street. Shiloh is not the easiest dog to deal with, but Derek has no problem greeting her, getting her leash on her, walking her through the beautiful streets of Long Beach, and giving her a treat upon their return home. I can trust that Derek will show up between a certain time window every time he is scheduled to walk Shiloh; he is very reliable. I have received text messages, pictures, and updates about how their walks have gone, and this always puts me at ease. Derek is very flexible and I have cancelled on him a few times, but always within a 48 hour window of time. I purposely chose Beach Buds because they were insured and bonded. We have been using Derek and his team since we got Duncan in 2013. While we don't use them as a daily service, Beach Buds has always been there for us in our times of need such as vacations, or if we simply feel Duncan needs to be checked up on more often during the day. Derek really blew me away when I approached him a few months ago when I asked if he can help out on my wedding day. After getting the OK from my venue to have my dog in the wedding, I asked if Derek would be willing to bring Duncan to the ceremony and then bring him back. He was more than happy to help. Timely, dressed like a wedding guest, and most importantly helped us create an unforgettable memory. The guests really enjoyed it, but most of all, my husband and I enjoyed it!!!! What a rare gem - a doggy day care facility that really does live up to everything it promises on its website!! We've been bringing our special needs girl, Serena to Beach Buds for well over a year and a half and can say enough about how great this place it!! Serena gets to play and socialize with lots of other dogs in a supervised environment so we know she's safe and cared for. Honestly, Derek and his staff are amazing! We were at first worried about her due to her physical limitations but they really do supervise the dogs and give them breaks when they get too excited. On top of that, they manage to keep the place super clean -- which is pretty impressive since so many of the dogs pee and poop at random, lol. As long as Derek is there, we will continue to bring Serena 2 days a week so she can play and see her friends. read more

Where do I begin? We rescued our Elliot about a year ago. He was great in the house with us, but walking him was a nightmare! He barked, pulled and tried to attack everything and everyone that came our way! Our walks became like mission impossible missions, trying to avoid contact with anyone...until we met Jordan! After one session there was a difference. Jordan is not only patient with Elliot, but with us as well. After 4 sessions, Elliot is able to meet other dogs safely on our walks, and pays attention to us and allows other humans to share the sidewalk! Jordan has enabled us to enjoy walks with our little guy and also establish some behavior guidelines in the home as well. She is caring, patient and clearly loves what she does. Beach Buds saved my tail MANY times when I've had to leave town without much notice. They go above and beyond for their clients, both human and canine alike. These are a few qualities that Beach Buds have that make me a returning client. First, and I feel most important, these guys love dogs. I mean, they LOVE dogs and the feeling is mutual. They cater their walks to the clients physical condition and needs. My dog has always been tired and happy at the end of a walk. Secondly, they are consistent with providing stellar service. Excellent service and incredibly nice owner and staff. Our dog Holly can be a bit to handle but they are excellent with her and I can watch her on the camera and see her play with the other dogs there. The interview day is good too because they screen out unsocialized, agressive dogs; it's not good if your dog gets bitten in a serious dog fight due to an unsocialized dog at a public dog park, whereas Beach Buds screens dogs to prevent serious fighters and they are quick to break anything up before a fight would even happen. Although the area may look small at first, it is more than enough room for the dogs to play and wrestle, and they even get walks and can go outside as well. read more

Beach Buds is simply amazing. Derek and Alyson have been walking/playing with our HIGHLY energetic dog for over a year. They are totally reliable, flexible, and, most importantly, huge animal lovers. They always shoot me an email or text after the walk letting me know how our girl is doing, and have helped us out multiple times when we've needed an emergency extra visit. They are also very involved in the community and have helped us find a great groomer and been sympathetic and helpful when our dog had surgery. I can't say enough about them. Derek and Dan did an outstanding job taking care of my dog. I could always count on them for a last minute walk or a quick text to update me on the status of my dog. I worked in queens and often long hours but knowing Dan and Derek were there I never worried about my pup.
