The office staff is nice and I have not had one problem from anyone or anything at this school. The school is big and spacious and the playground is up to date. The gym is very nice and the bathrooms are clean. The lunch menu is healthy and actually taste. Their website is great for parents too. My kids love their teachers, shout out to Ms Estes, Ms Turner, and Ms Anderson ( a total HOOT!) and they love this school. At their last school by now I was dragging these kids out of bed and dragging them to the car listening to whimpers and I hate school all the way. But here we are half way through the year and they have not once said they didn't want to go to school. Kids grades are good and perfect attendance. The school nurse is very nice too. If the child gets hurt or something she will call you, tell you what happened, whether their vitals are fine and give you her opinion on whether you should come and get them. I do appreciate her opinion as she is an actual nurse and it keeps me from having to leave work to pick up an "unsick" child ( you know what I mean) But all in all I love this school and so do the kids. We are so glad we moved here and got zoned for this school! Love love love it!

When they rebuild the school just a little way down the road I was worried that it would loose some of the small town charm the old one had but I was mistaken. When my children were old enough they started at the new school and low and behold two of the teachers who taught when I was there, was still teaching. Long story short, College Grove Elementary School receives top marks each year from the state for the level of education they provide our children. It was a real pleasure as my two went all the way through from Pre-K to fifth grade. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a good school, College Grove is an excellent choice.

The gym is not a true gym, no hard wood floor or bleachers etc. But is spacious. They do have a really nice playground too. They have a hall way system where you walk on one side to go one way and the other side to go the other way and visitors can walk in the middle. Works out great so you are not cutting through a line or tripping over a kid! Only con to this school is their parking lot. If there is an event, play, concert, etc it is a MAD HOUSE, they allow people to block others in and pretty much you have to wait at your car until everyone who has blocked you in comes out of the building. They had a open house there on night, and being the think ahead prepared mommy that I am I arrived 45 minutes before the doors opened so I could get a parking space and be parked legally and not block anyone in. When it was time to leave i literally waiting at my car for 45 MINUTES until some jerk finally came out and moved. This school definitely needs a bigger parking area! I was told there is a lot right next door to the school that they were trying to get and I pray that they do because it is impossible to fit everyone in their parking lot at one time for a function. And parking on the side of the street is impossible because both sides of the road are drop offs so the only place for parents to park it in the parking lot.

Mrs Amy- G.Y.M. Kids after school care…read more Mrs. Amy has been a tremendous blessing to myself and my child this past school year. My four year old started Kindergarten Readiness in an Elementary school. That means his schedule was the same as a third graders and a huge transition to say the least. At first he wouldn't talk, play, or eat. Lunches and snacks came home untouched. He would cry when I would come to get him and not let go even after we arrived home. Add on top of all of that, he has a special diet. He is allergic to many types of food and the ones he is not allergic to are highly limited (like sugar). The school and staff work with me on his diet as well as our religion. We do not celebrate "mainstream holidays". An example would be Santa or the Easter Bunny. Mrs. Amy and the staff have gone out of their way to make sure my son is included in activities without compromising our religious beliefs. When I pick up my child now, he asks why did I come so early. He brings home art and when I sneak in the room to watch him, he is laughing and playing. He is eating better and asks for snacks. He has grown sooooo much and I know he would not have blossomed if it wasn't for a caring and nurturing teacher like Mrs. Amy. Mrs. Amy has also helped me transition. She updates me on my son and answers my "is he normal" questions. She lets me know when he is acting out and she doesn't sugar coat it.This, above all, I appreciate. I am a single SINGLE mom. I am all that my son has. She corrects him in love and lets me know what she said as well as exactly what he did to deserve correction. From a single mom's point of view....Hallelujah,I am not the only one trying to mold my son to become a responsible, respectful man; Mrs. Amy is helping AND guiding me!!! She is always kind, loving, and she has the natural gift of genuine childcare. She notices when my child is absent, She notices when something is wrong, and she cares enough to take a moment to talk to me. This is the type of teacher a parent longs for.

We found all of that (and more!) at Smyrna Christian School. SCS has helped our child learn how to play, work together, and establish great friendships. They have continuously provided materials/activities that interest our child (and challenge her!) They have encouraged our child's efforts (which has truly aided in adding to her confidence.) They set clear limits for behavior (which is appreciated!) I love always receiving our child's drawings, writings, and crafts at the end of every week. They encourage parental involvement (which goes back to the whole "community feel") and welcome parental participation with class parties. How beautiful is that?! I truly cannot say enough GOOD about this establishment. Before we found SCS, our only-child went to a "glorified daycare" preschool and for so long, we didn't know how much it was hindering our child. It wasn't until we moved and enrolled at SCS that we saw our child turn a complete 180 in every aspect of her life that we realized what EXCELLING truly meant. I am forever grateful for SCS (and my only complaint would be that I can't keep our child here for kindergarten, too!)

Every morning we are greeted with a smile and a "Good Morning" from Miss Jodi in the office, and all along the hallways my kiddo happily says hello to all the teachers. They're all very friendly and engage your child in conversation which makes them feel seen and heard, and important. She just loves talking with them on the way to her classroom. Her teacher is Miss Vickie, and she just adores her. She is kind and attentive, and a wonderful human being. My daughter has learned SO much this year, and she loves doing it! They learn Spanish, colors, numbers, writing, and she even comes home telling me about the fun centers they have in class, and how silly George Washington's wig is! I love how happy she is there, and how much she's grown in her independence and knowledge. I'm convinced that a better school does not exist. Truly, it has been the biggest blessing for our child. I wish they taught kindergarten so we could stay!!

Riverdale High School is a great high school. Honestly, as far as Tennessee schools go, the…read moreenvironment is great and the staff genuinely care about the students. Riverdale is nothing like the city schools that are great mis-mash of conflicting cultures and ideals which results in most kids attending private schools. Most students who attend Riverdale have parents who has attended Riverdale which means generations of people love this school. There are many other little things about Riverdale that make it unique. Although there is definitely a presence of drugs, it's never become remotely violent. Most people who do drugs here mostly do weed, which isn't too harmful. Riverdale does have a no-tolerance policy on smoking, drugs, and drinking, so if any student starts to over-do, another student is likely to report them. Most of our problems with stupid Freshmen who think they're smart. Earlier this year two freshman football players that are not so decent people started vaping every morning before getting on the bus. It got so smelly that they got reported. On another incident, a freshman girl (often tries to be cool by bringing drugs), brought wine in a clear water bottle then shared it. She confessed and got off easy, while the boy she shared it with got suspension because he tried to lie about it being kool-aid. Kids who do serious things get sent to local alternative school. Even with the drugs, Riverdale is very non-violent and very few people actually hate each other. Sure, gossip happens but it's mostly bark (no bite). Kids here seem to really enjoy talking to each other and the cliques aren't really that judgmental (excluding the racist hillbilly kids or the black kids, mostly girls, who act uppity). In fact, if you have some smarts, you can make a lot of fast friends in many different colors and interests. It's a very relaxed environment with very little drama. Riverdale has several focuses. Mr. Nolan, who runs the school, is super lenient with his students. He tries to give them the best and really cares about every kid. If you're into machines and fixing uppin, Riverdale has a built in body shop to experiment on cars and other machinery. The ag department also offers a class on fixing farming equipment if you're into that. As far as electronics go, they also offer programming classes that make videos games and from my impression the students enjoy. During lunch the programming students can be found in the teacher's room watching videos or working on coding. A good main focus is the student moral and sports. Mr. Nolan loves his rallies in the Gym and recently had the Gym redone as a result. He mainly focuses on rallies for the main sports teams such as football and our famous girls' basketball team that just won again this year. However unless students try to rise up and ask for less popular sports that we're also mega successful in to me recognized, sports like wrestling will be ignored. They are building another athletics building right now, and I don't exactly know what it is for. However, they already have a swimming pool, a gym, a track and football field, and among other things. The ag department has two separate parts. Small animal has an in-building collection of animals, including guinea pigs, rabbits, a corn snake, ferrets, degus, rats, mice, an iguana, two bearded dragons, and chinchillas. They also have rabbits outside in hutches. Large animal charge has sheep, goats, and I believe also works with cows and horses from other places. The ag department hosts FFA which is great for anyone interested in farming, livestock, or just going out and doing stuff with animals. They volunteer with the local shelter. The science depart is also notable. They have a very active science club that will take outings to the local Barfield-Cresent park and volunteer to pick up trash, test water, etc. They also have taken field trips to go caving or canoeing. Mr. Hurt and Ms. Hargrove are super friendly. Mr. Hurt is arguably my favourite teacher as if you are interested in science and want to learn more about genetics in particular species or have him review scientific papers, he will take extra time to do that. The language department is eh. They offer Latin, Spanish, and German. The current German teacher is very lenient, sometimes too much. I'm sure he's a great guy but he sometimes makes fun of his students when they're trying to learn. I've heard eh things about the Spanish teacher as well. The English department is arguably one of the best. All the English teachers really, really care about their students and their grades. Many of the teachers who get the students with the higher test scores refuse to teach the state tests and instead have us actually writing papers with little worksheets to help us find textual evidence. Overall, Riverdale is a great school with many upsides. It's an old school and looks run down, but the community makes it worth attending for fourth years. Recommended.

Another problem with it is that they don't care about the students they care about getting him in and out they pass their own care if they feel they don't care it is just you you can have a few connections with a few teachers. Lastly I would like to point out that the environment doesn't feel very great the students there are the only fun part about it and the teachers there only a few teachers there then OK one positive note though is that those few teachers that are good it will make you your experience a little better there's one principle that is OK..
