We told Mike the service attendant, that I had surgery the next morning and he offered us condolences and a Military discount since my boyfriend is in the military & Mike said he was also a Vet. Ford diagnosed the problem and told us it was the fuel pump control module, not the fuel pump. He quoted $820 & said we still may need a fuel pump. We got the part # from him and then called our regular Ford dealer and Pittsville Ford, (also located on the Eastern Shore). to get quotes from them with the same part number. Both dealerships quoted $330-$480 for the same part with labor. We then returned to Hertrich Ford to get the truck towed again to Pittsville and Hertrich Ford still charged us a diagnostic fee of $129 after looking for the key for 30 minutes. I am shocked at the shady business, the friendly welcome to build our trust only to attempt to take advantage of that trust. I can't understand people like this that use an American name like Ford to do these types of shameful acts. ***UPDATE 1/16/21*** I called Ford customer service who then connected me with the GM of the dealership. As he was unaware of my situation, he investigated and called back the next day to apologize and refund the diagnostic fee. He also thanked me for bringing this to his attention so that he may address it and improve his service team. Based off his good business practices, I gave Hertrich Ford Pocomoke two extra stars.

(If vehicle were designed differently, it could be done b almost anyone). Final charge, $1,020.! Time allotted for job, 2 1/2 hours in shops flat rate book. Hertrich claimed job took 3 1/2 hours. Guy works slow, you pay for it. Also Hertrich told us that we had a leaking water pump. Wanted to sell us a new water pump for $1,100. Turns out simply tightening a bolt took care of it. Saved $1,100 dollars. Talked to service manager and general manage, not really expecting much, and did not get any satisfaction. But did file protest of the charge on my cred card companies service. it has worked in the past at another dealer. Apparently, dealerships do this. Doug

They sold him…read morea 1998 Cadillac for $2000.00 that had bald and sidewall cracked tires (cost over $500.00 to replace), front brake rotors warped and below legal specifications (cost over $200.00 to replace), bad front wheel bearings and tie rods (cost over $400.00 to replace), front end alignment $118.00, battery was wrong one for the vehicle and it was no good, kept car from starting everytime, (new battery $110.00), Air conditioning compressor bad and leak on intake manifold, (estimate to repair is above $800.00). I live over 200 miles away and he did not consult me on this purchase, instead he had his mom and step-father there whom said the car was ok. Since they told the dealer it was going to be registered in Delaware the dealer was not obligated to ensure it past Maryland inspection (which it would not have). I called the dealer to complain and see about getting his money back or reimburse us for the repaires and Mary Smith (co-ower) was very rude and stated they followed the law. This goes beyound law, this is what is right and ripping people off of their hard earned money. She did not want to discuss this and used this excuse as justification to sell an unsafe vehicle to my son. Shame on you Mary Smith! You need to find God and ask for forgiveness.
