I gave it a try for the very first time, but after my experience, I do not trust the vet and receptionists. This is not a place where I want my dog to be examined, and I don't even want to go into details about what exactly happened (I don't want to get angry again)...I can only say: find another vet. Just a little glimpse (not the whole point of view): They were not able to take blood from my dog - he felt completely unwell at that practice (he's almost 12 years old and does not behave like that normally...)....but he felt the vibes...(animals have amazing instincts!)...I had to help them to take the blood and give instructions on what to do and motivate them to push through to finally get the blood (after putting already 3 times the needle inside my dog...and how to push the vein...I could not believe it! My fiancé witnessed everything...) Let's not talk about the communication before the appointment, the miscommunication when it came to the overpriced bill, the non-knowledge about Shiba Inu behaviour, and the discrimination I felt! I received the lab result (thank you for that) and definitely will find another practice. I'm also aware that this review can be removed, and the practice could comment in a defensive way (so the responsibility is taken away, instead of accepting the feedback and growing, and simply apologising.) And I am also aware that I cannot comment on the comment the practice will add to this review. Their website is very informative, and it was there that I found their Pet Plan where for £10.99 a month my kitten could get all the required injections, worming, flea treatment, microchipping, and a free months insurance. Before collecting my kitten from the breeder I phoned thet vet to book an appointment and to query about how to go about changing the kittens food over. The receptionist/vet was so friendly and helpful.!! On the day the vets were genuine and set both me and my cat at ease. At the time my furry friend had fleas ( a present from the breeder) but the vet soon remedied this. I have been back since, and have built a nice rapport with the vets and they greet us by name when we come in. I would strongly recommend this vets , it can get busy though which reflects its popularity .

Our pet rat had a stroke during the night and it was obvious he was suffering and in need of euthanasia. We tried phoning all of the numbers provided online with no reply so we decided just to drive down to see if we could wait for someone to see us (I would have been happy to wait all day just to get him seen.) My partner and I waited at the seemingly empty reception desk for 10 minutes before my boyfriend discovered that there was actually an elderly man asleep behind the counter. He woke up and came over to us, barely coherent and smelling of stale alcohol and told us we needed to phone. We advised him we had phoned two numbers with no response and were out of credit. I was crying by this point, and i advised him we'd be more than happy to wait as long as we could, he just needs to be seen. He mumbled incoherently again and just shoved a mobile number at us. I would have happily accepted them being too busy to see us today, but the way we were treated was so upsetting. We luckily managed to get some money from a friend to have him seen at a private vet and he is now luckily at peace. I'm just shocked an appalled at the lack of basic service and compassion we received. The RSPCA is generally a fantastic organisation and i still support them 100%, however I'd strongly discourage any pet owner from bringing their pet here in an emergency.

(She is nine).In fact my usual vet wouldn't see me when I said I couldn't afford their costs. She is now on 3 kinds of tablets twice a day and running around like a puppy. All the staff I encountered at this hospital where very helpful, pleasant and kind. I highly recommend this hospital and I am extremely grateful for saving my dogs life.

This is a wonderful vetinary practice and I cannot recommend highly enough…read more Not only have they been consistently good with my pet rats (which a lot of vets do not particularly enjoy treating as they have a lack of experience with them) but they were always exceptionally good with my last cat. She was a rescue cat who had a lot of health problems and they treated her beautifully. At the end of her life she developed kidney failure and we were given the option of euthanising her. I asked if there was any chance of keeping her alive for longer and the vet told me that they could keep her going a few more days but that if it were her own cat, she would put to sleep as the pain and discomfort was so intense that my cat would have no quality of life left. Bearing in mind that the practice could easily have made another £500 for keeping my cat alive for an extra few days, I was incredibly pleased that they chose not to go down this route but instead made the whole process so easy and calming - we really couldn't have asked for a better experience, considering the circumstances. Wonderful vets, wonderful reception staff and a lovely calm, clean environment. Defintiely recommended to all!

Last year, I moved into my first flat alone in Withington. Solo. No flatmates. I was a bit lonely,…read morenaturally, with the boyf living in a different city and all my mates living in Manchester city centre. I decided that the only thing for it was to get a cat and thus cement myself in my friends' collective consciousness as their gin-soaked mad aunt. The first place I went was the Yew Tree vet surgery, as I knew they'd have a list of rescue centres, and they did. I made plans to visit one or two, but then by chance found Alan (nee 'Taz') going free to a good home, from a good home. Instantly, I loved him. Instantly, he loved getting under my feet. It was truly special. Then I noticed that Alan wasn't eating much and seemed pretty sluggish. Obviously I did what any normal cat owner would do. I cried, I panicked, I lambasted myself for being a rubbish cat parent. I went to the vets. The service we got at Yew Tree was fantastic. I burst in with my cat carrier and lay prostrate at the receptionist's feet "I am awful!" I wailed "my cat is ILL!" James the vet was lovely and calmed Alan down instantly, with some sort of vet magic, did a thorough once over and pinpointed the problem instantly. 20 minutes later, with a prescription, all of Alan's vaccines etc, a charity catnip toy and the advice "Do not feed your cat Go-Cat, it is MacDonalds for cats!!!" ringing in my ears, I was off home, happy again, and not crying. I know that it doesn't seem much; cat ill, vet see cat, cat get better, but as pet owners know, it is so important to know that there's a vet you can trust. The Yew Tree vet surgery is a great place to go. As well as saving your fluffy friend's life, they sell a great range of healthy vet-approved pet foods, and animal toys, a lot of which are charity affiliated. Even now that we've moved into the city centre, we still make the journey into Withington when Alan needs a check up, because we know we can trust them to be thorough and professional, and nice to the cat.

What if I've been a really bad owner and not known it? All these things were running through my head when young three month old Phoebe was popped in her pet carrier and taken to Withington's Yew Tree vet today. First of all, I love dogs and I love cats. But good lord, this is where dogs have the advantage. Most travel so well, and they're usually keen to meet new people so the strange man with the big needle doesn't seem in the least bit threatening. Cats, well, they're the misanthrope of the animal world. They adore a few select people but it takes a while to make friends with them. Now, Phoebe likes her cat carrier, for sure, which is a huge positive for a kitten... but she doesn't like being contained and she does NOT like engine noise. So here we were, taking what is normally rather a nervous, skittish and anxious kitten to an unfamiliar place in a now more heightened state of nervousness, skittishness and anxiety. Great. Just what on earth was going to happen on that table. I needn't have worried. Not only do you get a warm, lovely, friendly welcome at the reception desk, you get James. He's amazing. He's seen it all - nervous cats, cats who are phobic of everything from bins to bags to binbags to doors to shoes... like mine, angry cats, evil cats... he has one of his own. Our kitten was very healthy, he checked her over 100% and asked lots of questions about her behaviour and diet. We got tons of great advice about cat food and what little Phoebe would be needing in terms of shots and whatnot over the coming weeks. You can't put a price on a good vet, and now that there's a feline in our lives we're even happier we're moving closer to this establishment. Yay to the Yew Tree vets!

The turning point for me was when I rang in as an anxious pet owner asking about treatment for my dog, the receptionist thought she put me on hold. She then proceeded to use every F word possible and scream that she couldn't F'ing cope with me. Her supervisor came on the phone and I advised her that I had heard everything and she could only apologize. I immediately changed vets and informed them that I could not leave any animal of mine in their care if that is how they spoke about their clients! I also took a Terrapin in for treatment which I had found, the vet looked and hinted they were not funded for wildlife but said the Terrapin looked alright. I then rang the RSPCA who took the poor creature to a sanctuary, it died en route. Coincidentally they then took it to Peak Vets who diagnosed extreme muscle waste. So not alright then? Still they didn't have to treat it as it was dead. The Partner Steve rang me to ask me to clear my bill, no apology! He has since retired. So it was 10 years ago, still a lot of the staff I spoke to are still there. Sorry but had I not heard how that receptionist/vet nurse and her disgusting and disturbing outburst then I would have been none the wiser. Lets hope they have changed!

I put it in a basket and covered it up and took it to Park Veterinary Clinic. As an animal lover I was completely devastated and in an emotional state when I arrived. The staff were absolutely amazing to me and they took the kitten off me to put it to sleep. I cannot praise this clinic and their staff enough. The Vets are also very nice, and very gentle etc with your animals. Their prices are pretty much average and what you would expect to pay at any vets you visited. It brings a little sense of releif that you know your pet (if you love yours like I do mine!) will be looked after!
