Mike was able to clean everything and install a starter switch for us to replace a remote. Mike was thorough in cleaning as well as explaining everything as well as going over all the functions of the fireplace as we do not use it that often. I have made notes and will call Bell's in the future and request for Mike if at all possible. I was so pleased with Mike's work I felt compelled to write a review immediately. THANKS !!!

Best I can tell, this place is a scam. I would recommend avoiding them…read more We have tried to hire them *twice* to fix an improperly installed gas fireplace insert. Attempt 1 was just after we bought our house. They came, we paid them a few hundred $$ to do the estimate, they gave us an estimate, which we approved. Then we waited...and waited...and waited. More than a year passed and they never came and did the work. When we finally got a call back, they explained that an employee had died during that year, which somehow precluded them from communicating with us. Ok so we asked again for them to fix the fireplace. Although they'd already been here, and already given an estimate, and the fireplace had been unusable--they insisted they needed to come out again to give us an estimate. They charged over $400 to come out. Fine, we paid, they came out. The guy who came seemed knowledgeable and we were hopeful! But a month passed and there was no new estimate. I called repeatedly--no one ever answered or returned my call when I left a message. I emailed repeatedly; they did not respond. Finally, more than a month after coming out, I *finally* got someone on the phone and they sent an estimate. The estimate wasn't exactly what we'd discussed, and didn't include any timeline, so I replied with two simple questions. Again, no response. I repeatedly called. Repeatedly emailed. No response. It is now two months out, and they are unreachable and unresponsive. It's clear that they have no intention of doing the work. We've paid them over $700 just to be ghosted TWICE. As far as I'm concerned, charging that much to give an estimate, needing to be *constantly hounded* to actually give the estimate, and then disappearing is fraud.

We liked one fireplace in particular and discussed it's features. Next we had a representative stop by our home and measure the space. We were then told that the fire brick had to come out and an electric box had to be installed - and they don't do that work. We said we would like to proceed. They said ok. I talked with 3 different fireplace masons and 2 electricians. None would do this work because of the unknowns - so I did the firebox prepping myself. It took numerous texts and emails, (at least 20 as I got different answers every time,) to determine exactly what needed to be done. I finished the work in mid December. Since we were told that the equipment would be in to install in 6-8 weeks, in mid January I sent an email asking when we might see installation. I was told that they had not yet ordered it. They then told us that they need 1/2 down on it to proceed. There was no mention of this before then, in spite of a whole bunch of emails. So at that point I began looking for other fireplace services. We found a better service to use in DeGraff, OH that was cheaper, quicker, more responsive and had what we wanted. (And they would have done the fireplace prep work.) I don't recommend this place for redoing fireplaces. Communication is terrible.

I was pleasantly surprised by their professionalism, competence, and friendliness. The very first contact I has was with Brittany, who provided a wealth of information and was very patient and willing to answer any question I asked. She also happily worked around my life to schedule an appointment. The next contact was with Kevin, who was polite, knowledgeable, and thorough. He not only cleaned the chimney but showed me the flaws that needed attention. He did not try to up-sale me either. He provided the information and left the decision up to me. Oh, and I also need to mention how he left the area clean (like he hadn't even been here). Lastly, fast-forward to 2019. Reconnected with Abbey Road to have the need repairs done. I spoke to Brittany again and also talked with Ken, one of the owners (that was a surprise). The appointment had to be set a while out (we'd had a tornado in the area, lots of repairs needed all over). I didn't mind the wait but they actually were able to get to me before the arranged time. Ken and Kevin were the ones who actually came to my home and did all the work. Let me tell you, I am not only happy with the way my chimney looks...I am ecstatic about the all-around service I received! Will definitely recommend and use again!!!

The two chimneys that comprised the majority of their work are massive structures. The transformation that took place in the few days it took to complete the work is downright amazing. Our house is close to 100 years old and yet the chimneys look brand new. The slogan featured on Mid-Valley's vans--We Specialize In Your Needs--isn't merely a gimmicky marketing tool; it's part of how Matt does business. We had a large unattractive chimney structure in our kitchen that blocked light and prevented us from easily using our stove. My husband and I searched high and low for days trying to find someone to remove it. Matt understood that we really wanted it out and couldn't find someone to do it. Even though it meant changing his schedule, he came through for us at a fair price and had that chimney out within a day and a half. When the lift used to work on the chimneys was blocking my car in the driveway, I asked one of his team about it. He jumped on the phone to get a hold of Matt who walked him through how to operate it. He struggled to get the lift moving, but instead of giving up he persevered. I kept telling him not to worry about it. A big thunderstorm was brewing and I was more concerned about his safety. He insisted and succeeded in moving it out of my way. Matt approached our property like it was his own. At the end of each work day the work area was neatened up and made safe. And when all the work was done, not a spec of debris remained. If you didn't see all the work his team had done, you wouldn't know they had been here. We were nervous about buying a house whose chimneys needed so much work, but now that Matt and his team addressed all of the issues, we love our chimneys. No more fears about them coming down into our house. No more critters living (and dying) inside. We'll be able to use the large fireplace in our living room without fear of a chimney fire or carbon monoxide seeping into our son's bedroom. My husband and I are very grateful to Matt and Mike and the other members of Mid-Valley's crew. I wish every contractor was as exceptional as Mid-Valley. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

He wanted 1/3 to start, 1/3 when the block work was done and 1/3 when done. We gave him a check for $6k to start. He said it would take him 1 to 1 1/2 weeks to finish the block. Over a month later it's still not done and he's asked for more money numerous times. I gave him $3k more and I bought $3k worth of stone that he was supposed to buy so I've paid him $9k and bought $3k in materials for $12k total out of pocket. The block and mortar that he's provided is less than $1k worth so he's taken over $8k of my money for the little labor they've completed. He's told me numerous times to my face he would be there to do work and didn't show up or would come late and leave soon after but the last straw was when he texted us that he was out of block, mortar and money and wouldn't do anymore unless we gave him another check. I fired him instead and he wasn't happy about that, curse texted and threatened us with a lien which is rich considering I paid him for work he hasn't performed. No idea what the problem was but can only assume he was using my money to finish another project because he rarely was working on my project and hired a kid that had never done any masonry to do what little got done and it looks very questionable. He seemed like a good, straight up guy at the start but everything went downhill quickly.

He started out okay but on the last day when he and his helper were done, I did notice that some of the face bricks were somewhat crooked. They were not horrible, but I expected better for the price I paid. After several months, now some of the bricks are coming loose and the mortar coming out. I do not see a metal screen or layer of cement under the bricks. Some of them are just laying on the wood floor. I hired a mason because I wanted a quality brick job. I could have hired a handyman for a third of what I paid for this and had a better looking fireplace. Some of the bricks are also uneven. I guess I will have to tear up the loose bricks on the floor and have someone else fix this. I can't imagine how bad it will look once I start building a fire in the firebox, I imagine more bricks will start coming loose.
