My city-mouse friend mentioned that she had always dreamed of petting a horse, so when we drove past an eclectic looking stable with gorgeous horses (seriously looks like something out of a movie), I figured it was worth a shot to see if we could meet the animals. I told my friend, "What's the worst they could say? No?" I parked my car and walked up to what looked like the main building, and I was greeted by a sleepy grey cat and outrageously cute little dog. A man that I presume is the owner followed behind the dog and asked me if I needed help. After pitching my request to him, offering money to let my friend just spend some time visiting the horses, he kindly told me that we were welcome to respectfully walk around for free. He told us we could meet any horse that came up to us, but reminded us to not feed the horses. By the looks of the horses, the man I spoke to clearly cares for these animals deeply, and I was really taken by the cleanliness and health of the horses. In the end, my friend was able to meet a horse for the first time, and my kids loved seeing the beautiful animals. They especially loved the sweet grey cat and inquisitive one-eyed horse. We will definitely be back to schedule a ride here, as I was so impressed by the animals and thankful for the kindness we were shown. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Broken Saddle!

A very unwise decision considering she has customers in tow and you're up in the sticks alone. Cross the wrong resident and it may be your last ride. I park up an old logging road that ends at an arroyo on my days off, specifically because nobody hikes a dead-end, and she has brought no less than 6 tours within inches of my vehicle only to turn about 50 yards up because the road ends at an impassible drop. "Oh, I guess we have to turn around." I can forgive a couple intrusions as innocent mistakes. I can respect a tour that gives others a wide berth. I cannot forgive this behavior. Six times is no mistake. She only comes up this way in an attempt to intimidate me to vacate 'her' woods. I'm not leaving. I don't cowtow to entitled bullies. I have been extremely patient with the blatant intrusion and rude comments. Bring your tour again and invade my privacy and I'll sue for harrassment. You don't own the public lands. And stop felling trees to cut trail for your horses. Three are newly downed near where you park your trailers with a ton of manure all around and a new trail where they used to stand. The county would likely not be so forgiving as I have been.

I was looking for an experience, while in the Santa Fe area, for my children to have time with horses. Many options are solely for riding and didn't allow for children as young as mine. My 3.5 year old and 6 year old were able to learn about horses and safety (I learned so much too!), paint a horse, ride a horse, and see a horse in action with different gates and Ms Vivi directing. My 6 year old boy marches to the beat of his own drum, is very active, and can get distracted easily. She was patient with him when he had his own ideas, when he wanted to chase lizards, or run off to look for her dogs; she redirected him, respectfully, explained the safety reasons he needed to be calm and also for him to respect my daughter's turn and time. My daughter was scared to ride and Genevieve calmly and patiently encouraged her with steps to achieve riding... first to pet the horse while being held, then to pet while standing on the step, then just sit on the horse, then ride 3 steps, then 5, then ride to a song. My kids have been acting like and talking about horses all day since. Additionally, we were a little over 10 minutes late-- we paid for 2 hours of her time and she provided even more. Grateful for the experience.

It turned out to be the perfect birthday present, and Letty and I were so happy with everything.
