I was led to this charming locale during a brief stopover in the quaint town of Dalton Georgia while on annual training (AT) with my reserve unit. The day we arrived followed several without decent food, including the dreaded MRE's! A group of roughly eight of us took a walk into town and stumbled upon this place while seeking out something tasty. The establishment was quite lively, with a line of roughly six people in front of us, but otherwise well managed amid a busy crowd. There are a variety of choices and an ample beer selection as well as margaritas. In addition to burritos, there are also tacos, salads, quesadillas, and tortilla chips that are served with your meal. If you want a little zest in your chest, there are numerous salsas from which to choose with varying levels intensity. Make you you know your scoville heat unit tolerance. Oh yes, the dedicated kitchen staff diligently prepare your order! I ordered the vegetarian burrito which came with beans, rice, lettuce, and avocado! It was really good and certainly filled me up! The wife and I went here on a Sunday afternoon. It very much like a local Chipotle. You pick your tortilla shell, and pick the fillings you would like in the burrito. The restaurant was clean, and they were doing a great job at keeping it clean. When a table left, they had someone ready to clean it. Same with the bathrooms as well! The customer service was great as well. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I saw their cashier helping to run food to tables when the customers needed help! The food was likewise good. It wasn't amazing. But it's definitely solid. Will be looking forward to going back and trying more of it. read more

Locally owned restaurant, which is better than any other chain restaurant IMO. My go to used to be the bowl or the kids burrito. Simply because it was that much food for the money which is awesome! The queso is so good! & lemon cookies are to die for :-) Only say "used to be" because I no longer work downtown and downtown dalton is super busy during lunch hours, so I will definitely have to go back for either the bowl or the cookies! read more

When on a roadtrip with extra time, I try and avoid the fast food offerings around the highway exit and delve a little deeper into the small towns on my route to explore their local offerings. Buckin' Burrito in downtown Dalton was one such discovery. The concept is one you've experienced before at Moe's, Willy's or Chipotle, and the menu offerings and prices are pretty much the same. However, I found the flavors here really above par, particularly if you like your Tex-Mex spicy (which I do). Their pico de gallo and choices on the salsa bar were all much hotter and more flavorful than your run-of-the-mill burrito joint. Combine the tasty food with the beautiful storefront (complete with tin ceiling tiles) in the historic area, ample free street parking, their long hours on Sunday, and the self serve coca cola beverages, and Buckin' Burrito is a spot I'd return to when passing through the Dalton area. read more

Since you get to see the ingredients and watch your meal being prepared, it's almost like you're making it at home, but it only takes 5 minutes. I've been looking forward to the opening of this restaurant for a few months now. Not only because I love seeing new restaurants open, but particularly because I love tex-mex style food. Needless to say, I had some high hopes. I can go ahead and assure you that the high hopes were met. This place is pretty fantastic. The location is a cozy spot in downtown Dalton. The interior has been painted and decorated to have a southwestern theme, very fitting for the joint. Upon walking in, I was surprised by the size of the place. It was much bigger on the inside that it was on the outside. The place has more than a few flat screens, with everything on from the weather to the Brave's game. The counter where you order was spotless, and the kitchen looked great too. Yes they just opened, but you could really tell they had standards to keep in their kitchen! I am glad I was with a group, because I could not decide on the menu. They have everything from burritos, to nachos, to tacos, to salads...but the place is called the Buckin' Burrito, so i went with a burrito. The procedure for ordering is standard tex mex, pick your item, your rice, your beans, meat and finally veggies. All the meats looked really good, even the non meant (tofu) had a wonderful look. I chose steak, and was not disappointed. As far as veggies, I went with guacamole and jalapenos. Here I was presented with a choice, pickled jalapenos or fresh. Oh boy were they fresh. Vibrant green and had a very nice crunch and quite a kick too! We also got a side of queso to go with our chips. It was also very good. We decided to sit outside because it was such a beautiful day, and not too hot yet. Even though we went at kind of an odd time, 7:45ish on a Monday night, it was pretty busy. When we left, even more people were walking in. This is a great palce to eat, it is very family friendly, good for a date, or good to watch a baseball game. The food is fresh, something thats getting harder and harder to find. The vibe of the restaurant is casual, the owner comes out to talk to tables and guests. It is a very a friendly place over all. Dalton needed a place like this, something simple and fresh. The normal fare to eat in this town is the giant chain restaurants like o'charleys, outback, and other "neighborhood bar and grilles", while places like this are real gems. read more

The restaurant is huge, with outdoor seating as well, and TV's on the walls. You walk through the line, tell your food creator what you want, and they make it in front of your eyes. Prices are cheap. The restaurant did have a funky mildew like smell that was off putting, but seemed to go away after awhile (or you just got used to it). The food was very much like Moe's--your typical TexMex combo. Moe's always tasted "clean" or not so heavy to me, and the same could be said here. It was good, but not great, with a funky smell. Overall,it made me miss Moe's in Dalton. :( read more

When I read Matt's review I was excited to try Buckin' Burrito and I was not dissappointed! It was wonderful. My whole family loves the Buckin' Burrito had have been back several times since our first visit. If I can't figure out where my husband is having lunch it's the first place I peak into and check to see if he is there. Yesterday and today that is EXACTLY where I found him. Today, since I am back on my diet I tried there regular salad with fish and I was amazed at how good and fresh the fish was. On a road trip to Tennessee from Florida and was looking for places along the way to eat. We were going to wait until we hit Chattanooga but we were all to hungry. Found a place in Dalton but they were closed. We drove through downtown and the red umbrellas and happy faces coming out caught our attention. The restaurant is clean, service was friendly and the spin the wheel game before check out is fun. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I loved their ghost pepper mango salsa. I LOVE the food at Buckin' Burrito. I've met the owner, and he is awesome, super friendly. We went there to eat tonight (02/16/2022) and were let down by the employees. My fiance has only eaten there one other time and he tried to ask questions such as: "can I see what the chipotle tortilla looks like?", "do you think this sauce would be too much on what I have now?" and the employees there either ignored him altogether or said "get whatever you want, man." I don't know what we did to make them hate their jobs tonight but everyone was extremely unfriendly, couldn't crack a smile, and wouldn't speak up so we kept having to ask them to repeat themselves (which made us feel awkward since they already huffing at everything we asked them.) Do yourself a favor and order online to avoid having to interact with the employees. Then you can also see the full arrange of toppings since none of them are listed anywhere in the restaurant. There are up-charged items such as corn salsa and sauteed peppers and onions that are amazing but unless you want to get attitude from an employee for asking questions, I wouldn't bother going in. "What's in that?" I said pointing to the container nearest me on the other side of the glass. "Fish," says the burrito barista. Nice! I'll have that. Don't see that much in Northwest Georgia. What can I say. I'm adventurous. Tasty and Tilapia, almost for sure after I tried it a few times now, but no one who works here has confirmed that directly. Adequately spiced black and pinto beans round out the protein offerings. Omnipresent and relatively bland steak chicken pork and ground beef are presented to appease the West Daltonian class that primarily frequent this establishment. So this vegetarian and pescatarian friendly walk up burrito cantina in the image of chipotle also distinguishes itself from that national chain in that there are to my knowledge no recent poisoning or norovirus outbreaks associated with the buckin burrito food. There is a nice selection of veges on the bar including spinach which is fresh and free of charge and a goopy uninspired and bland fajita vegetable mix of peppers and onions the addition of which will provoke an auditory exchange behind the counter that culminates in an up charge at checkout. Tip: stick with the spinach and salsas offered gratis. It's fast, well spiced at least sticking to the fish and beans, beer and "all you dare drink" soda available, cleanish and fun atmosphere for Dalton. I'll be back. read more

Great food and fantastic service can be found at this little place tucked away in downtown Dalton. The style is "Build you own". You choose the device that transports the ingredients (Burrito, quesadilla, tacos, etc) then choose from all wonderful and super yum yum fillers ( chicken, steak, cheese, pico, lettuce sand even Tofu amongst others ). They have a little salsa bar with a few salsas as well. I got a burrito supreme and it was wonderful. The young lady building my masterpiece was attentive, polite and quick. The premises are very well taken care of and the bathrooms are spotless. All in all I had a wonderful experience eat Bucking Burrito and plan on revisiting next time I'm in Dalton. read more

This place is the epitome of hit or miss. Last time we came here, it was great. The time before that was mediocre. Tonight is absolutely gross. I ordered nachos, nothing fancy, but if you ask for just a small amount of sour cream, then the price is almost $10. Aside from that, I requested a refund because it was gross. The cheese was grainy and not even warm, much less hot. I talked to the manager, and instead of asking if he could make new one, he asked to reheat it. I do not fancy microwaved nachos. My wife and brother seem to be satisfied with their burritos, but the problem with burritos is that the meat is hot, and the rest is cold. So it's like eating a half frozen burrito that wasn't fully cooked in a microwave. If I wanted that, I would buy a cheap burrito from Kroger instead of forking out $7-10. The good part: the woman who is running the check out was very friendly and apologetic, despite it not being her problem. That's why this is 2 star instead of 1. I love using Yelp! when we are traveling. That's how we found The Buckin' Burrito in Dalton. It's kind if like Moe's or Chipotle, but with a more hometown, personal feel. We ate outside at the sidewalk seating and enjoyed the view of the old downtown. The food was very good, but I do wish they had a hotter salsa.
