Sat in the bottom end of the market, this unit, complete with door to keep the cold out, offers alterations for ill fitting clothes. Needs anything taken up or in? For around a fiver you can get it done here. If you think a fiver is a little steep, imagine just destroying the item altogether if you're not a dab-hand at needle work! Hi there all who read this…read more I would like to post my review about the Maurice Jagger Centre for the disabled. After16 years of devoted caring for the elderly in nursing homes and in there own homes, dealing with mental illnessess. accidents, hospital admitions and the passing over of the people and their families that you have cared for for many months and even years it always pulls at your heart, so after many hours of debating with myself I came to the conclusion that I would no longer carry on with this career. But hey guess what , as I entered the centre I was taken aback by how these elderly people with all there disabilities and illnessess were so pleased to enjoy each others company and have a cup of tea and lunch and just generally socialise with ease. As I am only 50 I wasnt sure at the begining wether I would feel as though I was intruding in these peoples space but I can honestly say that each and everyone of these people have made me feel welcome and now they ask where I am when I am unable to attend every Thursday. The food is good and nutritional, the staff are always helpful and the activities in the centre are good. Sometimes I have to admit I have to remind myself that I am only a visitor and that I need to stop working on automatic pilot. WELL NOW I FIND MYSELF WANTING TO VOLUNTEER AT THE CENTRE.

All power to the excellent staff, especially in light of the fact that these people are largely volunteers. You do have to get there awfully early in order to be seen, let me caution you! Unbelievably early! In fact, I would say give them a phone call and check their hours out before just turning up: otherwise you may well just be wasting your time. But it's liable to be well worth a visit should you be in the position of needing a little advice
