We were in a lovely cabin, quite spacious and nicely decorated. The owner was welcoming and recommended restaurants and local attractions. Our bedroom suite was huge with a giant jacuzzi. Unfortunately, the tub was in dire need of resurfacing. The kitchen area had fridge, microwave and coffee maker. No cooking indoors or grilling on deck allowed. I do understand fire concerns, but an outdoor grill somewhere on the grounds would be awesome. We will definitely visit again, and hope to post a five star review.

They quickly offered to mail it to me and they sent me the tracking info. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. I really appreciated their help. The hotel itself is very nice and the rooms are clean. The beds are very comfortable. They have a nice full breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend!

So what brings this Deja Vu to mind is the two weeks we spent at a Sonesta in MD when we moved out here back then. This time the "week" was spent on the IL side. It is difficult to describe how I wasn't able to separate those feelings from the PCS move to this a final move to a forever home idea. Litchfield is a nice enough town, and actually the big city compared to our little village. This is a good, basic hotel/motel. There is nothing to really complain about, nor does anything stand out as a reason to return. We got a good price through Booking.com...and there were not a whole lot of other choices. It was reasonably clean, the bed was comfortable and the plumbing worked. There is a breakfast, it was a decent offering of a hot protein, biscuits, gravy, a waffle machine, cereal etc. There was nothing special and nothing exceptional. We did have this odd thing of the mini-fridge being super powered and freezing everything. We told the staff and they gave a sort of shrug response. I am not entirely sure if this place is on the way up or the way down. There was evidence of some effort to improve things but the staff seem to be family members and not the young vibrant 20 somethings, but the hard working, worn 60 somethings...

Check in and go to my room - well what I thought would be my room. I open the door and there are other peoples luggage all over, so someone obviously is already checked into this room. I took all my things back downstairs, got a new room and thankfully it was empty. Although they were nice upfront and I do not expect a free stay or anything like that, just something more than "oh sorry" would have really helped ease my anxiety about someone else being able to get into my room later when I left. The room was clean besides the green/pink buildup on the shower head - not something I usually look at but even being 5'1 I could see it when I got in. Also there was duct tape all over the bottom of the bed frame which was odd. All in all wasn't horrible but I would look into an Airbnb if I needed to stay around here again.
