I called to discuss this with Kendra as airbnb directed me to stating she could possibly fix it, and Kendra advised me that she could do nothing since it was booked thru airbnb. we know this not to be true because she changed the reservation when it was submitted to her by her by airbnb. also to clarify, when I called with my out of state number, she didnt answer the phone however when my husband called back with his local number she picked up on the first ring. sadly disappointed that our family vacation was derailed by this place. Also, very disappointed that my sister in law left a unsatisfied review given the issues, and Kendra responded by posting my booking information and my phone number as rebuttal to the review. The breakfast vouchers we received got us a free non-alcoholic drink (coffee was just okay), one biscuit with gravy, scrambled eggs from a powder mix, and three overcooked strips of bacon...all of which was lukewarm at best. For over $200 per night, highly disappointed. But, at least our room was clean and free of bedbugs.

I decided to find an RV park near Litchfield, IL where I could leave my camper so I wouldn't have to drag it back down South for a one day job. I called Lazy Days Campground inquiring about an RV spot for two nights, briefly explaining my situation. The gentleman whom answered the phone was initially helpful but made it clear that they could only accommodate me for two nights because they were booked up for the weekend. He then affected an extremely belligerent tone and warned me that he would hook a tractor to my travel trailer, drag it to the middle of the road and call a wrecker to haul it away if I hadn't returned by Friday. His remark made me laugh as I visualized him doing this and he became furious. I told him that I would be making other arrangements so as not to cause him any unnecessary distress and he blew-up at me saying that I wasted his time. I apologized and remarked at his rudeness and poor customer service skills before ending the call. He immediately called me back threatening to call my employer and get me fired. (I hadn't told him who my employer was.) In a very loud voice he informed me that he wasn't "Customer Service" but rather, "THE Manager!" Then he challenged me to drive to the campground so he could whoop me. After the second call, I began researching ownership of this campground so I could inform the owner, whom I learned is Lanny Leach, of the way his manager is speaking to potential customers. I'll be darned if I didn't receive another call from this guy asking if I was on my way over and making more threats. I told him I would be contacting Lanny regarding his behavior and he said that the owner was standing right next to him. When I asked if I could speak with Lanny, the man said that he didn't want to talk to me but rather, wanted me to dive over for a confrontation as well. This park looks beautiful but if my phone experience is any indication as to the customer service they offer... No thanks!

The beds in the Rose and Lilac Rooms are Tempur-Pedic and make for a good sleep if you have a bad back. The little things go a long way here - the inn has cold bottled water constantly available and the proprietors strive to make the guests feel at home. We had an elderly relative along and he used Helen's Room which is the ADA room in the Carriage House - it was perfect for him and all went well. The breakfast is just fantastic. Buzz, our host, was a great host and made sure we were happy. There is nothing like breakfast in the dining room with the fireplace making warmth and enjoying freshly prepared breakfast. No conventional hotel can match this. Buzz also recommended some restaurants and we were most pleased with his recommendation. We really enjoyed Market Street Inn and will return in the future. If you are looking for a great Bed & Breakfast, look no further - this is it. It is worth a special trip if you are traveling on the interstates and looking for the feel of home while on the road. This exceeds anything offered by most hotels on the highway. It is a destination place to stay. I highly recommend Market Street Inn.

We were touring Route 66 and stayed here for that specific experience which I remember from childhood. On those grounds it basically delivers - for an old motel, it's reasonably well kept up. The owner working the front desk was very hospitable. My kids and I swam in the large indoor (seasonal) pool. The room, redecorated in the 1980s to judge by the style, was a bit beaten up and shabby but certainly clean. Most everything works even if it doesn't all work well. Amenities included wifi and continental breakfast. If you're used to 3-star city hotels with a concierge and room service, you might subtract a star. If you are on Route 66 and hunting the experience of a bygone era of travel, though, maybe add one - few surviving classic motels in Illinois are better.

All taxi companies in Taylorville are absolute jokes but it really hits when there is only one…read morerunning. I schedule calls anywhere from the night before to 2 hours before and every single time I'm forced to call and find out that they don't know what I'm talking about. No one ever takes responsibility! It's always someone's else's fault or no one told them! They abuse the fact that they are the only cab in town and it's ridiculous! It would take a miracle for a respectable business to run a cab in this town. This has been an ongoing thing with all cab companies in this town for 10 years and with this company in particular for the last 5.5 years. It's a 100% fail rate when it comes to scheduled calls. That deserves an award. Sucks cause a lot of the workers are quite nice!
