This is such a friendly hotel! I left my backpack with a laptop in it and they tried to call me 5 times to tell me, but by the time I got the messages I was too far to turn around. They quickly offered to mail it to me and they sent me the tracking info. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. I really appreciated their help. For JUN 1-7 2025... There are times in life that remind you of other times in your life. We have retired and moved back to Ilinois (were first here 2017-2020). So what brings this Deja Vu to mind is the two weeks we spent at a Sonesta in MD when we moved out here back then. This time the "week" was spent on the IL side. It is difficult to describe how I wasn't able to separate those feelings from the PCS move to this a final move to a forever home idea. Litchfield is a nice enough town, and actually the big city compared to our little village. This is a good, basic hotel/motel. There is nothing to really complain about, nor does anything stand out as a reason to return. We got a good price through Booking.com...and there were not a whole lot of other choices. It was reasonably clean, the bed was comfortable and the plumbing worked. There is a breakfast, it was a decent offering of a hot protein, biscuits, gravy, a waffle machine, cereal etc. There was nothing special and nothing exceptional. We did have this odd thing of the mini-fridge being super powered and freezing everything. We told the staff and they gave a sort of shrug response. I am not entirely sure if this place is on the way up or the way down. Writing this as of 05-17-2026! 3 adults, 1 toddler & 1 baby We checked in from being on the road all day around 8pm. No bugs and room was pretty clean. Room however is outdated, small, stained curtains, outdated smoke detector, and I've seen port-a-potty's bigger than the bathroom. But for the price and only staying here for 12 hours I couldn't expect more. Did not use the pool due to the cloudiness of the water and the amount of people in it, also due to previous reviews. Our room didn't get cold just cool and muggy. Bed was very comfortable, lots of lights, plenty of outlets, not a lot of storage, huge TV, big bathtub, landlord special on the paint job Shower gets hot but I found myself frequently turning it hotter just to keep it the same temp until I couldn't anymore. Also after about 4 minutes the shower started making a very loud screeching noise that did not stop. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash was all watered down extremely! Also right off the elevator there was plastic laid down, drywall dust and chunks on the floor which made it difficult to get off the elevator and push the buggy with our luggage. Just kind of seems "trashy". Overall, not the worst place I've stayed, DEFINITELY get what you pay for here. I wasn't expecting the Taj Mahal but definitely room for improvement! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD WITH A HOTEL. Pool inspection didn't pass last year and was told to shut it down to make improvements and nothing was ever fixed and continued to keep the pool open ( this came from an employee and she wasn't allowed to tell anyone there was problems with the pool when checking in ) . I had 6 healthy kids with me and every single one of them ended up sick FROM THE POOL Including two adults. Coughing, throats burning, throwing up, chemical burns around their eyes!! I ended up having to take one of my kids to the ER for high chemical exposure and burns around his eyes And because he threw up 16 times!!!!! My kids were also not the only ones that were sick from swimming! The manager kept telling me that it was not his fault and that his pool was fine. No pool should ever make you that sick. I highly recommend NOT STAYING HERE!!!!! read more

First time at a Baymont, though I've had good experiences at Wyndham. The clerk who rented the room to me never mentioned a price, and I was exhausted from driving, so I didn't know what I paid until it showed up on my card. $113, which is about normal these days. Room was clean. There were ptactically hostile signs in the elevator telling smokers & vapers if they do it in the room, they'll be ejected with no refund & billed an extra $250. All fair...I'm a smoker, but housebroken. A simple 'No Smoking' sign would have been adequate; people like me will smoke outside without the threats, and the ones who ignore signs will probably smoke anyway. Just seemed unnecessarily unfriendly for a hospitality business. No other complaints, other than unenthusiastic employees & overkill signage, but next time I need a place to sleep I'll wait for a Hampton Inn or Holiday Express, where the atmosphere is always friendlier than this. read more

Checking in was fine and the night clerk at the desk was really great. He helped get our fridge working which was pretty crucial for breast milk; he even traded out the one that had been off in our room for one that had been running so it would be cold. The furnishings were old and the carpet left something to be desired but it was manageable for one night. But the elevator was relatively quick and they did allow pets for a little extra so our cat was happy to be with us. The morning clerk on the other hand was rather unfriendly and cold. It was 11 o clock- check-out time and we'd called a few minutes before to say we were checking out and would need a few minutes and the woman had said ok. But our ajar door got a knock and this grumpy man tells us checkout is at 11. It was pretty obvious we were working on it with our luggage cart all filled up. This was our first stay in a hotel with our baby (3 months old) so we were still figuring out how to juggle it all. So I had to strike a star for that - a little pleasantry and then a friendly reminder would have worked. And the thing is, we got out to the lot and the cars there the night before were all gone so it wasn't like we were holding them up for the big rush of people coming g in. Room was clean and decent, check-in was easy. However, we got woken by cleaning service at 8 am with loud taping of key card on our door, even though the door sign was put out. Went to breakfast and 9 and the only things to eat was carbs and greasy sausage patties, biscuits and gravy. There were zero eggs put out. Not everyone is going to like 95% of carbs being the only thing available to eat. For the cost of the room make some scrambled eggs. We ended up going next door to Denny's since B&G with sausage was the only thing out to eat. That is not a healthy breakfast at all! read more

I'm a single woman and this place is very creepy with a lot of weird people walking around at times, smoking weed outside, dressed ghetto or like drug dealers then you have your regular once in a while family like folks! I didn't feel safe here at all besides the 1 flimsy lock on the inside of the door and door separating from the door frame. peep hole is weird. put a piece of towel in it cause sometimes someone could look in from the other side! This place reminds of cameras hidden in your room to watch you, bath tub water doesn't go down, so I was literally standing in suds water. this hotel is quiet to sleep.. You get what you pay for! The man is very nice, friendly! The young girl that works here in the day is very weird, strange, not friendly. she was looking at my debit card like if it was fake turning it at all angles. I never had anyone in my life do this!! pool is clean! breakfast terrible.. Old bagels, bread, BNG looks older the SH**! milk is in a huge gug for everyone to share in a fridge which i find " what if someone is really a big milk drinker or has a bigger family" to serve for. Coffee is gross and old! it sits in the machine never fresh! No donuts, or at least something fresh for someone to grab fast on the way out or just to get a snack! your better off going to the gas station to grab something or Dennys next door! No one hardly works the front desk, and there's always a sign to place key in a basket. What if someone wanted a receipt or has a problem that needs to be attended to. everyone hides i guess or doesn't work! I took my dog outside in the back and they have a toilet by the back door from being torn out from 1 of the rooms and it was such a great thing to walk, look at while going back in.. My Lord!! Needs better management!! absolutely a shame, cause this place could attract way the people if it was only ran better. read more

Nice clean hotel. Quiet. Breakfast was meager. No eggs, no butter or cream cheese for bagels.

If you are local they want a $100 cash deposit, fine that wasn't my problem. The next morning to check out she automatically was keep $50 of that deposit because of a small pink mark on a towel. I asked her "are you not suppose to use the towels in the room" she didn't answer me. I told her we wouldn't be back and she told me that was okay and chuckled. Very rude lady. The housekeepers I ran into were very nice. Sadly it is ran by people that do not care about their guest. read more

Mid. Elevator smells like a wet dog and/or public pool kids. Mini fridge doesn't get cold, toilet doesn't flush, kinda dingy and gross but hey it's only the most expensive room they have right?? Quick call out for a decent 1-night stay at the Baymont Litchfield. Check-in was seamless. The room was ready and clean. Bathroom spotless. Decent WiFi although no password needed (but never conduct secure business on a hotel WiFi anyway). The hotel was quiet and no road noise. Breakfast was sparse but well-organized and sufficient. Upon checkout owner/manager made an extra effort to provide our existing Wyndham rewards information so I could check my balance. Not important to me but thoughtful. read more

DON'T DO IT!! I booked the hotel for a 9 year old swim party from 1 to 4. I was told we could have food and drinks at the pool before I booked the two rooms required for the pool party. When we arrived the rules were changed. I was told I could not have food and drink at the pool but they could give me a meeting room. I was disappointed but whatever we moved on. At 3:45 I was told I needed to clean the meeting room and vacate because another party was starting at 4. Once again not super happy, but it's a party let's move on. The next morning we decided to leave early because the hotel reeked of chlorine and pot so badly my boys were coughing. When checking out we were suddenly charged $60 for the meeting room and $10 for an early check in fee. When we booked the party for 1 pm start no one mentioned an early check in fee and meeting room was offered as a peace offering for the miscommunication about the no food and drink rule at the pool. When we tried to work through the charges at the front desk we were told that they told us about the charges in advance. No one discussed any additional charges at anytime. The charges were just placed on to my credit card like maybe I wouldn't notice. Harry Patel, this was a poor business move. The hotel is dirty, poorly run, and I would double check your bill before leaving - if you decide to go at all. Zero stars from me... read more

okay only good thing was honestly the hottub n pool, the breakfast was shitty. there were ants literally everywhere even after all food products were removed from room. even in the bed. in my whole entire life have seen this many ants in a hotel room. breakfast was just cereal and waffles. the service was also very rude. you wake up to ants all over your room of course you're going to be panicky and mad you dont want to be yelled at by a maid when you go to them about it. and that's exactly what happened. will not stay here again and i recommend not staying here over the summer especially if you dont like bugs. we were also charged twice for one night and they are saying it is a glitch, either way thats 92 dollars from my account thats either gone or frozen. read more

Stayed the night here with my Mom and Step Dad. The location is kept clean, even the grounds are tidy. The rooms are classic but a tad modern. Couldn't complain, they have nice pillows as well. Also pretty handicapped friendly. Which is nice because my Mom is in a wheelchair. Would stay again, also Denny's next store gives a discount if you show the hotel key. read more

Brenda is rude and very short with us during our stay there. She came down 10 mins early to shut the pool down and when we mentioned it was 9:50pm she shut the lights out. It was hard to see on the way out, it was so dark. I guess our safety did not matter to her (Brenda). I've stayed there several time before and have alway been happy with their service. But, i don't think i will come back to this hotel if i have to deal with Brenda again. read more

By registering online and having a wonderfully nice and efficient desk clerk I literally was checked in had my room key and was in my room in 5 minutes. And since it was nasty wintry weather I went straight to the hot tub which is in a separate outdoor like greenhouse building really nice. The hotel shares a parking lot with Denny's if you don't want their decent breakfast. The coffee is in a separate area then the breakfast nook so be prepared. read more

We have stayed at this hotel many times as it is a midway point for a long drive we take every few years. The hotel is clean, well run, accommodating, just next to Denny's with several options for food and necessities shopping nearby. There is even a movie theatre close by. Visted this weekend on vacation with my family. When greeted at the front door by Mark and he was very unprofessional and he didn't follow proper protocol and neglected to take my Identification when checking in. He told me one of my rooms was ready and that when we came back from dinner our other room would be ready as well. After returning from dinner we got our room keys from Jennifer at the front the Front desk, everything seemed fine and we headed up to our room. About five minutes after being in a room Jennifer called up and said our card has been declined. We told her that was incorrect and that there was no way that would happen and that we will be right down. When we got downstairs she told us it declined again so we headed back up to our room and called the bank come to find out after my card got declined because she kept running it over and over again resulting in a $700 charge for the room on our credit card. After going downstairs and talking to her she lied to our faces and told us that it wasn't from the hotel even though when we called the bank they verified that the transactions were made at the hotel. After telling her to call the manager Jim or the owner Nancy to figure out what she is going to do about the situation we waited about two hours and she couldn't get ahold of the so called "24/7" on call manager. After waiting all this time when she finally got a hold of the manager Jim he told her that he there was nothing he could do about it and that he wasn't going to show up. After being very frustrated and dealing with Jennifer not being helpful and very disrespectfulshe then proceeded to make us pay for the two rooms on a different card and never once offered up an apology for her mistake. After four hours of dealing with her mistake we finally got settled into our rooms and realized that the rooms were very dusty and some of the hand towels we had had make up all over them. We had a very bad experienceand we will never return because of lack of respect and professionalism. read more
