Honest, Affordable, Hassle-Free Best Rental Experience in…read moreCancun If you're researching car rentals in Cancun, you've probably seen horror stories about hidden fees and airport scams. The experience: * Reservation confirmed within a day * Clear arrival instructions and contact info * Friendly reminder the day before * Shuttle ready to take us to their office The car: We had an older Chrysler - modest, showing some age, but the engine, tires, and A/C were all solid (A/C is a MUST in Mexican heat!). Plenty of space for luggage, easy to drive, and small enough for all the parking spots. The process: Sign the documents, make a deposit, and you're on your way. Returning the car was just as easy, full tank, tipped the staff for the shuttle back to the airport. Smooth and painless. The price: We paid exactly what we were quoted - no surprises. $198 for 5 days, including full insurance. A $400 deposit was required, which was promptly returned. A few honest notes: * Gas is expensive in Mexico, but that's universal * A slightly newer car with Bluetooth would've been nice, especially for rougher roads So happy to support a small business that actually does right by customers. Do your research and book Avant with confidence. I'd rent from them again in a heartbeat. Bottom line: straightforward, no-BS, highly recommended.

So we tried Avant. I thought the price was reasonable and when we arrived I asked about the possible possibility of paying more to get a car with cruise control and they provided provided one, a Chinese sedan for not much more than the original quote. I had a minor problem in the sense that some part of the door look that was external fell off, a small plastic part and I communicated that to them and they didn't charge me anything for this slight mishap. Overall, a fantastic experience. I would recommend them to anyone and rent from them in the future.

The price was exactly what I saw online, no hidden fees. Perfect. The car, however, was not. It was an absolute beater. Scratches, dents, and missing parts all over. Then I'm told if scratches/dents happen I have to call it in. There would literally be no way for me to know because it was covered in them. The engine was loud but the car worked, so off we went. I wanted to plug in my phone to see the directions but there was no spot to plug in my phone and no display. Not a big deal, my husband was my copilot. Two days after arrival we took the car out exploring. All went well. The next day I had planned to go to a cenote with a friend but the car was dead. Called the number twice. No answer. Messaged in. 30 minutes later I get a call back. They would send someone from a satellite office and he should be there within 20 minutes. He tried charging the car, no luck. He gave me the car he had, which was much nicer. Off we went to the cenote! Three days later we were ready to head back to the airport and it had a flat. There was a screw in the tire. The resort filled it up and we were on our way. When we returned the car the lady told a guy to check the tires and specifically pointed to the one that had the screw, as if she already knew. I'm thinking it was there when the car was delivered to us. The whole thing just felt shady. The price for a week was just over $200 with all the insurance, which is great, but I won't rent from them again.

Serious warning: do not rent from this company. What we…read moreexperienced was disorganized at best and intentionally misleading at worst. After the fact, it was obvious this is a pattern -- their Trustpilot reviews tell the same story. We provided our flight details and confirmed pickup time in advance, yet after landing we were left outside in extreme heat with no clear instructions and no one waiting for us. There was no sign, no uniform, and no identifiable staff. After standing around for half an hour, another rental company actually helped us locate their representative -- which is frankly embarrassing for a business claiming to be professional. Transportation to the rental location was in a rundown, dirty vehicle, and the "office" itself was in a remote, poorly maintained lot that looked nothing like a legitimate rental facility. It immediately raised red flags. From there, things only got worse. Despite having all our information and no other customers ahead of us, the process dragged on endlessly. Nearly two hours passed before we were finally handed keys. During that time, we realized they hadn't even prepared the vehicle yet -- it was being cleaned while we were already completing paperwork. On top of that, they placed an unexpected $4,060 USD hold on our credit card, even though insurance had already been purchased. This was never clearly disclosed beforehand. The car situation was the final straw. We reserved a Volkswagen and were given a Maxus instead. The vehicle's system was entirely in Chinese, making navigation and basic controls unusable. When we asked staff for assistance, we were brushed off and rushed out. When returning the vehicle later, we noticed something telling: the lot was full, yet there wasn't a single VW anywhere -- strongly suggesting they advertise vehicles they don't actually carry. Their entire fleet is made up of old and janky, near the end cars which are worth less than their surprise credit card holds. The condition of the car was unacceptable. It had very little fuel at pickup, a window that had been taped over and leaked when it rained, sand already inside the vehicle, and numerous dents and scratches that were not documented. We had to insist on marking the damage ourselves and recorded everything because staff repeatedly tried to downplay visible issues. What made this even more concerning was watching the same thing happen to other customers. Multiple groups around us were given vehicles different from what they booked and pressured to accept them without any adjustment in price. Bottom line: this company does not operate transparently. Customers are drawn in by online listings that don't reflect reality, then pressured into accepting inferior vehicles under chaotic conditions. I would strongly advise travelers to choose a different rental provider. This experience was stressful, misleading, and completely avoidable.

I had a very disappointing and costly experience renting from Enterprise in Cancun…read more I booked my rental through Expedia for $245 and specifically selected additional insurance coverage, which was included in the price I paid. A few days before my trip, I received a text from Enterprise confirming my reservation and asking if I wanted to add insurance. Since I had already purchased coverage through Expedia, I checked "yes," assuming it referred to the same coverage. At no point was any price disclosed. When I arrived, the office environment felt more like a high-pressure sales floor than a professional rental counter. The agents acted more like commission-based salespeople, repeatedly pushing upgrades and additional charges. I declined multiple attempts to upsell me to a larger vehicle, only to be told they didn't even have the class of car I reserved and had to give me a larger one anyway. The real shock came when I returned the car. I was charged an additional $987. I later learned that by checking the box for "additional coverage," I had unknowingly agreed to insurance costing about $60 per day--far exceeding the cost of the rental itself. This was never clearly explained or disclosed. After returning home, I contacted customer service to explain that I believed I was confirming the insurance I had already purchased through Expedia. While they acknowledged the situation was "regrettable," they refused to issue any refund. I travel to Mexico frequently and have rented many cars, but this was by far the worst experience I've had. The lack of transparency and aggressive sales tactics are extremely concerning. I'm honestly surprised this location has so many positive reviews--my experience suggests many customers may not even realize how much they're being charged. I will never rent from Enterprise again in Cancun and strongly advise others to review every charge carefully and be extremely cautious when accepting any add-ons.

Abusive and retaliatory management…read more We had a confirmed reservation with Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Cancun Airport that was canceled by the location, despite the fact that when we called the Enterprise customer service number, we were explicitly told the reservation should have been held for 24 hours. At the airport counter, we were told the only option available was a different vehicle at four times the price of our original reservation. Because we were desperate for transportation to Tulum, we agreed. An Enterprise van then drove us to the rental lot. It was at the rental lot that we encountered the manager, Prats. When we calmly asked for written confirmation of the original cancellation and expressed frustration that we were receiving conflicting information from different Enterprise employees, his demeanor immediately became hostile. He stated that he would not rent a car to us because we were "arguing too much." At no point did we raise our voices or behave inappropriately. We asked Prats to explain what he believed we were arguing about, and he was unable to provide any explanation. Despite the fact that we had already agreed to rent a vehicle at a much higher price, he then refused to rent to us at all, claimed there were no vehicles available, and refused to provide any written cancellation notice. We were left without transportation at an international airport at night. Even one of his own employees encouraged us to document the incident. This was retaliatory, abusive, and completely unprofessional behavior from a manager. Enterprise corporate should seriously review who they allow to represent their brand at this location.

Ive rented now 4 times in the Yucatan from 4 different companies and the basics are all the same. I actually found that on my recent 1 week rental from America Car Rental / Economy I got the best deal so far. First things first. Always get the full insurance. There is no getting around this. We are so spoiled in the US and Canada by our credit cards or personal car insurance being accepted. America gave me a price for full insurance with NO-Deductible. Thats what you want. It was basically $50 US a day. Not bad when my rental was only $18 US a day. LOL This is what gets ridiculous in Mexico - the pricing schemes. That being said I reversed into a palm tree and busted the rear door and completely shattered the rear window exposing everything. They drove from Cancun to Tulum (2 Hours) with a replacement car that day. When I returned the car, I thought perhaps things are going to go sideways. Nope, they returned my deposit (500 USD) and that was the end of it. I even checked by credit card after returning a few times. All good. My total cost for the week rental was $328 USD fully insured. My trip was October 2023. As long as they keep it up, Id say this compnay is great.
