I rarely write reviews for car rentals, but after doing extensive research, I was honestly shocked by the exorbitant fees that many companies add on top of the advertised price. I compared several companies, including the big-name U.S. rental companies, and this one was by far the best value and provided excellent service. Reserving the car was super easy, and they communicated with me through WhatsApp throughout the entire process. We were picked up at the airport and shuttled to the rental office, and then we were on our way! There were no unexpected extra fees, and the deductible hold was only around $300, compared to the estimated $2,500 deductible hold with Budget and Avis. My $300 was returned back. From the point I sent an email inquiring about renting a car, they were very responsive. I made a reservation about a week before my trip. The day before they reached out to me via WhatsApp and asked for my airline information. When I arrived in Cancun, they sent me a message with clear instructions on where to go to meet them. They were right outside the terminal doors. They were ready to take my party if 6 people to their office which was about a 5 minute drive. Once we arrived, our vehicle was ready for us. I read all the horror stories about renting cars in Cancun. Did my research and settled on this place. After all, what kind of rental spot not only has basically 0 negative ratings-- but actually, a ton of positive ones? The agents were very friendly, spoke English well, addressed all my questions and concerns. I got a standard Sedan. The car was scratched up on the exterior, but zero complaints about its performance. It had Bluetooth audio as well. As for driving in the Yucatán, there are so many speed bumps! Got stopped by the police crossing from Yucatán state to Quintana Roo, but they were pretty friendly. Driving in Yucatán as a foreigner can be very daunting, and the horror stories only add to that. Yes car rental Absolutely a YES! Before booking with a car rental company in Cancun, I read every review I could find. The advice conflicted so much I made a spreadsheet! Only at airport vs not at airport, local company vs US company, hidden fees, etc. I originally booked through a big US car company with pick up at the airport. However they were unresponsive to my questions and I became concerned the large car size I needed wouldn't be available- which would be a disaster for us (7people, plus a walker). I decided to do a second booking with YES! They were immediately responsive, answered my questions and were honest about size of car and amount of luggage it could hold (and that we were going to be a bit squished). The company is not at the airport, but they had us picked up in a van (our name on a sign as we exited airport) and it was quick and efficient. I have no criticism only positives: * We received text when we landed to begin the fluid communication (thru security, at baggage pick up etc). * Glad an expert navigated the high volume traffic at airport! * Pick up at car rental company was quick and efficient. * No cost to add a second driver * Allowed 21 yo to be added as driver * Allowed us to add a new driver mid trip (21 yo headed home and friends arrived) * Quick and efficient drop off of car at end of trip * Transport to our departure terminal by company * No hidden fees! * Most at of all very responsive even during trip for questions or updates. The rental car was a great little car to get around the cenotes with. Good gas mileage. Great, fast, clear service! Note to tourists, if you're driving in Mexico it's similar to the US. HOWEVER, you drive and assume that others will make space for you. It's an aggressive pace and some implied stops and lanes. We used YES last week and their service was superb. We had complications with both our arrival and departure at the airport and YES went out of their way to help us. The price you agree to online is the price you pay when you get there, unlike the car rental places with counters in the airport. YES will pick you up and take you back to the airport. I highly recommend buying the zero deductible insurance because drivers in Mexico are extremely aggressive, especially in Cancun. I would avoid driving in Cancun as much as possible. The roundabouts there are a weird design and scary to say the least. If you have a western Yucatan destination you can avoid Cancun by driving around the airport. Driving in Merida and Valladolid, and the highways, was much easier and safer than Cancun. read more

Overall, I would highly recommend renting from Yes Car Rental given that it was hassle-free. I'm a frequent business traveler and used to renting cars throughout US and Canada. Normally, I rent from Avis or Hertz. We did a lot of research online about renting cars in Mexico and were a little apprehensive initially especially when it came to dealing with insurance. We were seeing other companies about $50 less for the rental, but online you read about the headaches of dealing with these other car rental places. Specifically, hassles with being upsold costly a la carte insurance or having to deal with a damaged car claim. We ended up renting a car at Yes because the reviews were great and overall very happy with the experience. I made a reservation about 5 hours before arriving at Cancun Airport. I communicated via text messaging and calling them through WhatsApp. They were incredibly fast in responding. They picked us in a Shuttle Van directly from the Cancun Airport and took us to their offsite office (5-10 minutes away). From there, they kindly gave us bottled water after hour 5+ hour flight. We filled out paperwork and had to leave a $300 deposit hold on the credit card. When we returned the car, the hold was released. In total, I paid $330 for 6 full days for an automatic economy car. They provided us with a VW Jetta. The car definitely was NOT new and had it's fair share of body damage from prior renters, but the car was absolutely safe to drive. Tip #1: Take a video and pictures of the entire car before leaving the lot since our vehicle had several scratches, dings, and dents. The attendant reviewed our call in detail when we returned it, but overall no hassle on the return. Tip #2: Ask for a full tank of gas at time of booking, so they have time do this before you arrive. This makes it easy to to determine how much gas to put in when you return. Otherwise, you'll get less than a full tank and have to do your best to guess when returning the vehicle and likely return it with more than when you rented the car. Tip #3: There is a GoMart / PeMex gas station just off the 307 Freeway heading North towards the Car Rental return. They take credit cards, but I got rid of some Pesos to avoid taking them back to the US. read more

I meant to do a review of this place last December 2020 when I was down in Mexico but forgot. Even though it's on my timeline to review so here it is. This is my first time going to a car rental place outside of the US and it's not much different then anywhere else. It was 5 of us and we was going to be using the vehicle for at least 4-days. At first they gave us a really small SUV mind you we all had luggage and it wouldn't have been able to fit regardless of how we maneuvered the luggage...please believe we tried! Lol. So they did give us an up grade for a little extra price which I thought we should have gotten for free (hint the 3-stars). So other than that they made sure we was good afterwards so I would recommend them, but just make sure that you over state how many people is coming so you know for sure that there will be enough room in the vehicle. Nobody wants to have to go back into their pockets to upgrade after you thought all was already paid for before you got in the country. read more

This was one of the easiest, most straightforward rental experiences I've had in any country, with any car rental agency. Super easy pickup (even though we were delayed about an hour in the immigration queue), lots of proactive communication via WhatsApp, even to the point of reminding of the drop off location a couple hours prior to return, and very open and honest explanation of coverage and rental contract. I'll echo the general warning about speeding - major roads are generally 80-100km but drop to 30km or slower immediately as you're approaching a town. Originally I was apprehensive about booking online w/ a local car rental place but went with it due to a few other reviews that had been left. Everything they say they will do, they do. They picked us up promptly from the airport and returned us to the airport as well as a courtesy. The staff are friendly and speak English too. The car we wound up with was nothing fancy, had no bells and whistles but did the job. It was hard to get used to locking the car manually though and I believe we had something stolen from the back of our car in a parking lot once due to my forgetting. We rented the car so we could drive around during our stay as we visited various places along the Mayan Rivera. We drove from Cancun to Playa Del Carmen to Tulum, to Valladolid, to Cancun. What you should know about driving here. Maybe even think twice about it. ITS CRAZY! It's chaos, especially once you get out of the touristy areas. Don't speed! I mean it! Don't do it! It's hard not to because EVERYONE ELSE IS! But believe me, the police will tag you and pull you over and more than likely they are LOOKING FOR YOU! You are a TARGET! Why?! Because you don't know their laws and they can exploit that and WILL! We were pulled over for speeding and running a light. I am 99% certain I did not run a light, but was probably going about 12 Km over the posted speed limit. That said, they don't post the speed limit often. SO PAY ATTENTION. They will threaten to take your license and tell you that you can pay it in 24 hours from that time at the police station. Then you will panic and offer to pay it onsite (which is exactly what they want) and will then exploit you and once you give in and say okay take my license, then will then tell you they have no tickets and you can pay them there to take care of it. They initially told us the tickets would be about $400 USD, and once we naively scrambled through our wallets trying to find $$ and told them we didn't have it, they took what we had which was $80 USD and some MXP totalling about $95. Then they let us go. Later we learned once home from an ex cop who happens to travel to Cancun a lot.. when this happens to call 911 and ask for tourist services and tell them what is going on. This should put a halt to any shady business. If it was legit, the officers should follow you to the police station after issuing you a ticket for you to pay right then and there. They will take your license but you go pay right there and then and get it back. Something else to consider. We were planning on stopping on along the way at various Cenotes and ruins while traveling from one destination to the next. What we failed to consider was leaving our car at any of these sites full of our belongings. Even though everything would be 'secure' in the trunk we wound up not feeling safe about it due to reading reviews about various places and the theft and also potential for car damage due to bumpy unkept roads at these places. I tell you all of this to assist you in making decisions about what car to rent. If I were to do it again (which most likely I won't) I would get a car that is AWD and can handle pot holes and such. One last tip. We traveled on a toll road from Valladolid back to Cancun. DO IT. Smooth new road! And no stops nearly the whole stretch! read more

My car was in fine condition although with some seat stains. Make sure the car has Android Auto (mine didn't but they rented me a phone mount as a courtesy). Wow this place is amazing! I came to Cancun before and had a really bad experience with the other American car vendors at airport (Hertz, Firefly, you name it). I was really scared about renting a car and was so happy to find this gem. Thanks to fellow yelpers this is the place to go. They pick you up at the airport and have a sign. Airport tip: do not change money at airport unless you need to and if you do change not your whole cash amount since their rate sucks. -And all the people waving you down to "tourism counters" sell timeshares and tickets at "lower prices" but you have to waste a day to sit down and listen so please keep walking. Okay so once you leave make a left where it says family and friends and that is where the Yes person is at. Orlando picked us up and took us to the car rental place which is 4 minutes away. There are no hidden fees or surprises. I paid what was written in my reservation ($110 from Tues-Sat). I had to do a small deposit of $10 beforehand and I think they did a hold on my credit card for $200. Not bad compared to other places that wanted to hold $600 plus. I got a Chevrolet Aveo and it was roll down windows with no alarm. I realized this as a drove away one block away to the money exchange place. I immediately called them to see if they can upgrade me and they did for $12 for the whole trip. I got a Volkswagen with an alarm, bluetooth and automatic windows. Now definitely worth it! So make sure to check your windows and alarm if that matters to you. Orlando and Guadalupe were amazing and went above and beyond. Once we returned the car, Orlando inspected it and drove us to our airport terminal. Great service, highly recommend!!!! read more

I did a lot of research about rental cars in the area, and I had initially decided to go with a big-name company. I was searching google maps to see the actual locations of the rental agencies, as far as I can tell your car is never at the airport you have to be driven to it, and I ended up finding Yes Car. Based on the excellent reviews I got a quote and here's the important part, their quote is the exact number you're going to pay all included. A lot of places will try and sucker you into a good deal only to hold you up later when you get the car. Not here. The car was brand new, in perfect working order and the pickup and drop off paperwork was done in less than ten minutes. From the guy who gets you from the airport to the office staff, everything went flawless. I highly recommend this little guy company. Proper service and extremely honest. Traveling to Tulum often each year this is the best rental car experience from the Cancun airport! Do not go to the others as you will end up paying way more for the car by the time they add in extra insurance fees which are usually mandatory. Unlike most rental car companies in Mexico, we paid the price we were quoted on the internet. Beware, most rental car companies will not tell you about the insurance that is required in Mexico. This can be very expensive! Their website is not the greatest. Make your reservation and then reach out to them through WhatsApp for confirmation.
