From Amarillo to Galveston, looking for something out of the ordinary, we some how ended up at the Texas Ranger and glad we did. Clean, comfortable, quiet and a very rustic feel the owners have done a great job on the place. Gary and Paula, the managers, did a great job of making us feel at home. There isn't much around. We brought dinner with us (micro wave in room) and enjoyed dinner with a view after a nice swim in the pool. I read one review where the owners responded, saying if there was a problem they would have moved you to another room but almost all the other rooms were empty so I assume this was about as good as it got. For this awful experience I paid $72 and was not even offered a receipt.

The bunk house brings a fun, outdoorsy vibe that is perfect for hunting trips or just hanging out with a large group. And the newest addition, the Cactus Hotel, can be a mixture of both! You have the option of renting one room at a time or the whole thing, depending on how large of a group you have. Each has its own bathroom and access to the common living area (which is super cozy and great for just hanging out- we escaped a rainstorm in here our first night!) The Chaparrel Ranch has free range chickens and ducks as well as a pen of goats. You may also encounter the steer that roam the surrounding pastures. Instead of being treated kindly we were greeted with a stern and rude "When are you leaving?" The entire experience was very discouraging and uncomfortable.
