"On the expressway to your heart That expressway, not the…read morebest way At five o'clock It's much too crowded" (The Soul Survivors) Located right off the Long Island Expressway, and a few zig zags through industrial and retail parking lots, you'll find the Residence Inn Marriott. Check-in went smoothly and we had a very nice suite-like room with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, sink area, and bathroom. The bed was comfy, the HVAC controls worked fine, and the TV and WIFI were excellent. The shower temperature and pressure were perfect. However, there were some Annoying, Disappointing, and Absurd observations that impacted this three-star rating. What was Annoying? The bathroom fan and shower were guilty of annoyance in the first degree. When you turned on the light switch, the ceiling fan would slowly fire up and soon hit such a loud volume that I thought someone in the room next door was taking a shower. And then when we were taking our showers, there was a bizarre beeping noise that came from deep within the bowels of the plumbing system. Seriously, I thought it was an alarm or a phone beeping. What was Disappointing? Simply put, breakfast was disappointing. They had had the usual breakfast offerings -cereal, muffins, yogurt, fruit, and a waffle maker. But there were only two hot trays -scrambled eggs and sausage patties. The lack of hot choices when compared to comparable hotel breakfasts was disappointing. Oh, and the tray of bananas was empty for quite a while, and we gave up waiting for it to be replenished. What was Absurd? This hotel is in an open suburban space next to a shopping center and a movie theater. I looked out the window of my room and must have seen 75 available parking spots in the hotel lot. So, all that makes it particularly galling and absurd that the Marriott charges a $12/night parking fee. What's also annoying is that the fee is kind of hidden, and the cost was never directly vocalized when we checked in- just a "we'll take a credit card imprint for incidentals".

They are dog friendly which is a plus for those traveling with their furries. My room was very comfortable, clean and sleep quality was good. I never did the breakfast, but big respect for the great morning coffee! I did find that they do not keep the common areas very tidy. Might be a staffing issue, but there was trash in several areas including the stairwells and my last day I could clearly tell nobody had vacuumed the stairwell the entire time I was there. I did have housekeeping the third day of my stay/after my second night but it was not thorough- they just made the bed, left fresh towels, emptied the trash and ran my coffee cups through the dishwasher. Totally fine but No vacuuming ( there was stuff on the floor from my shoes the day before), did not leave any coffee in room and had clearly not wiped the bathroom vanity area down. I am not very messy so it was a non issue. Some of the people that stay here may be a little strange (maybe that is everywhere) as on my third morning, I opened my door and there was a balled up dirty sheet that someone had clearly intentionally left right there! Very bizarre. Between the good and strange I would stay here again, I really liked the staff and my room was very comfortable!

So I go on Google to leave my review for the Hollywood Motel in Farmingdale, and the FIRST thing that pops up is this news article saying TWO MEN WERE FOUND UNALIVE IN THE JACUZZI. HUH?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! That's the SAME room we stayed in! We were literally sitting in that nasty old crusty jacuzzi like it was nothing. It wasn't even remodeled or replaced. So you're telling me two people died in that tub, they bodies were found soaking in there, and y'all just cleaned it up and rented the room back out like nothing ever happened? Ain't no way. I don't even care if they bleached that thing a thousand times. The thought alone got me sick to my stomach. I'm sitting here replaying it in my head and getting goosebumps. I would've NEVER gotten in that jacuzzi if I knew what happened in that room. Isn't there some kind of law where you gotta tell people somebody died in the room? Or at least remodel the place or rip that old jacuzzi out! Instead it's the same busted, ancient tub looking like it's been there since the '80s. I'm dead serious... I don't think I'm sleeping for a month after finding this out. This whole place creeped me out before I knew the story, and now it all makes sense. Never again. One of the most disturbing motel experiences l've ever had. One star is being generous.

Al and Mary, who manage the motel, were so helpful and kind as we navigated all the planning that goes into planning a wedding and providing overnight accommodations. The check in process was seamless, the rooms are spacious and clean, the grounds are lovely and the location is perfect. I definitely recommend Lands End Motel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Sayville!

As someone with a disability, I have a registered service animal who assists me with my condition, which includes seizures stemming from my time serving this country in the military. When I called to make a reservation, I was denied service simply because I have a service animal. The person I spoke to was not only unhelpful, but downright rude. They told me to "go to LaQuinta or elsewhere" instead of accommodating my legitimate request. When I tried to explain my situation and rights under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), the representative hung up on me and refused to answer any further calls. It's unacceptable and discriminatory for any business to deny service to someone because of their disability or service animal. I would advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere - especially if you expect fair and compassionate treatment.
